Der Ursprung vieler Wasserkraftwerke im Alpenraum liegt im Gletschereis. Die langfristigen Auswirkungen der Gletscher-Schmelze auf die Wasserkraft sind nicht seriös prognostizierbar. Eine aus Gletschereis-Bonbons erbaute maßstabsgetreue Akkuzelle soll veranschaulichen, dass sich Eis in Energie umwandelt und in flüchtige Bestandteile speichert.

Der Akku wird zum Symbol einer Epoche im Anthropozän, dem Batteriezeitalter. Die im Gletschereis gebundene Energie, welche über den Gletscherbach den Speichersee passiert, durch eine Turbine umgewandelt, über das Stromnetz verteilt und für kurze Zeit in Akku Zellen eingelagert wird, macht für einen „süßen“ Moment unser Leben komfortabler. Bevor die Energie aus dem Eis für immer verschwindet. Gleich einem Bonbon, einem Gletschereis Bonbon, das auf der Zunge zerfließt und für einen Augenblick Glücksgefühle auslöst. Ein flüchtiger Augenblick, gleich der verbleibenden Lebenszeit der Gletscher.

What is the freshest water you’ve ever tasted?

It might sound cliche, but there really is nothing that quite compares to glacial water. When visiting the Perito Moreno glacier in Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, we were encouraged to drink the water straight from the lake! It was just as fresh on the actual glacier (more on that later).
