Jack Harlow Addresses NFL Halftime Performance, Had to 'Bring It Home' for Late Grandfather

Fans slammed Jack Harlow’s halftime performance on Thanksgiving, as viewers criticized the cheap-looking set and called it the ‘worst halftime show ever.’

In his Instagram Stories on Friday, Harlow, 25, wrote about his decision to headline the midgame show on Thursday. “On some real shit, the main thing that pushed me to say yes to this Thanksgiving halftime show aside from the opportunity itself, is how much family I have in Detroit and all of the times I spent growing up visiting the city,” he penned.

The Kentucky native also imparted a tragic story about his late great-great-grandfather, who was a Lions fan. “I kid you not, my great-great grandfather had a heart attack and passed away in the stands at the Lions Thanksgiving game in the 1960s,” he said. “I’m not even bullshitting and you know I had to bring it home for bro.”

Despite Harlow’s heartfelt post, the jokes flew during his performance, which has been removed from the NFL’s YouTube page, with some viewers claiming that he ruined the holiday. Social media users also targeted Harlow’s inflated set and random hype man, who didn’t seem to know all the words to “Tyler Herro.”

Harlow has since moved on from the Lions-Packers game to attend a Louisville Cardinals event on Saturday, and throughout December, the artist will perform the multi-city No Place Like Home tour in Kentucky.

El viaje a Australia fue largo. 3 aviones. Escalas. Cambio de compañías. Compañías baratas e incómodas. Scott es lo peor. Pero es la más barata. No hay televisión, ni cargador, ni te dan comida... Me acuerdo al llegar, que fue como ¿y ahora qué? estoy sola, con Diego claro, pero al final solos en un continente nuevo. Menos mal que por lo menos el inglés lo llevamos bien. No teníamos conexión a internet porque obviamente no teníamos SIM y conseguimos una wifi que nos decía que autobuses coger hasta el hostal. Esta fue nuestra primera compra en Australia la GoCard para llegar desde Coolangatta hasta Surfers Paradise. Cogimos el bus hasta Broadbeach. Obviamente en ese momento no sabíamos ni donde estábamos. Todo nos parecía chulísimo y siendo objetivas no lo es esa zona de carretera. La costa preciosa sí. Pero la carretera no. Después cogimos el tram y fuimos caminando hasta nuestro hostel. Estábamos muertos, eran como las 9 am y solo queríamos dormir. No podíamos hacer aun el check-in así que nos fuimos a ver la playa, a comer algo, y a conseguir wifi porque necesitábamos saber como conseguir una SIM. Yo tenía un conocido que llevaba aquí unos meses así que le preguntó y me explico las cosas básicas pero que obviamente no tienes ni idea: qué compañía de teléfono coger, donde abrirnos una cuenta bancaria... fuimos bastante gilipollas y se nos ocurrió pedir la SIM por correo, lo que tardó como 5 días por lo que no tuvimos número de teléfono que poner en los CV y era imposible contactarnos. Pero bueno, la novatada. La venden en cualquier supermercado, asi que ir al Coles o al Woolworths y compraros ahi una. La compañía barata es Lebara pero luego en otras zonas más rurales hay una conexión malísima. Y la cuenta bancaria la hicimos en CommonBank.
