i like that they used piccolo as the vehicle for parental expectations and the way those pressures manifest in gohan i feel like its too literal to use goku or chichi. chichis flaws have been discussed to death and personally im not interested in seeing supers take on gokus parenting. but i feel like with piccolo there was just a lot of room to make piccolos worries (ie: gohan not needing or valuing him, gohan not living the way Piccolo Thinks He Should, the obvious fear for his safety) seem valid while still stressing that gohan does kind of have his own life and that he deserves to be accepted as he is and given his own time without being forced into behaving The Way His Parents Want Him To.
