Happy Memorial Day, Turkmenistan.  On this date in 1881, the Siege of Geok Tepe was broken by Russian commander Mikhail Skobelev, following which the town was slaughtered and the Russians took control of Turkmenistan all the way up until the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.
