THANK YOUUUU ANON!!! I'm so sorry I didn't post this sooner, it was saved to my drafts o(-(
answers under the cut cuz there's a decent amount of text :P
Does your OC find it easy to express themselves in words? Or do they sometimes struggle to find the appropriate word or phrase? Are they eloquent in one language, but less practiced in another?
-Lea is concise and deliberate with his words, especially so when expressing his own feelings. His secret hobby of reading fiction aided him in learning the right words to express himself but he is hardly ever transparent about his feelings. His writing is more complex, detailed, and structured than his actual speech, however. in short Lea is straightforward and easy to understand, and his writing allows him to be detailed and express himself a bit deeper. ( also he likes to be poetic in his native language c: )
-Cidra very much struggles with expressing herself through words. She is much more open than Lea, but has always struggled to pinpoint specific feelings within broad emotions. Her writing skills are limited and she was taught little in regards to reflecting on her feelings. I think it's definitely impacted her and has made it really difficult for her too communicate with people in general. Overall, Cidra finds it easier to let actions speak for her emotions. (Lea is good at determining her emotions, thanks to working with her for years)
Does your OC adhere to any particular religious faith? To what degree do they follow the tenets of that faith? Are they a believer in name only? Or are they zealous in their convictions?
- Cidra is/was a loyal follower to her father/Bha*l, and her loyalty came from a sense of self-preservation and a desire for power. But she had very little emotional connection to her family/God, simply for mistreating her in childhood and denying her the true freedom she craved. Cidra hates feeling leashed and finds religion, in general, to be too restrictive for her tastes.
- Lea has felt a deep desire to be loyal to a god/ religion and has attempted to do reach out/dedicate himself more than once. (and failing because he's Bh*alspawn.) Over time, he'd develop a distrust for the Gods themselves, which conflicts with his outlook mentioned before. However, Lea respects faith and prays on occasion despite not being dedicated to any God. He doesn't know if it brings him comfort anymore, though.
How does your OC feel about striking disparities in wealth or access to essential resources? Do they feel such things should be distributed more (or even totally) equitably? Or are they disinclined to interfere with the current ordering of society? Do they believe in paternalism and charity as an effective means of sharing the wealth of the rich with those less fortunate? Or are they cynical about this approach?
- Lea came from poverty only to eventually become a slave, and his outlook on wealth changed numerous times based on his own experiences. For a brief time, he cynically accepted that wealth wasn't to be shared. Lea wanted an easy answer to why he was stuck in poverty. He does grow and recognizes the corruption of wealth disparity, which makes him far more charitable when he has anything to spare. Unlike Cidra, Lea doesn't have any trust for the super-wealthy. He's been taken advantage of too much to feel any other way.
- Cidra was always well-off but not offered any freedom or control over her wealth; the cult needs to keep people in line through multiple methods, and taking money is one of them. Because of this, she tends to keep her money to herself and doesn't care about sharing. Although not entirely against the idea of sharing wealth, she is inexperienced in the dynamics of classism and is slow to understand the greater implications of insane wealth. Cidra will eventually have a change of heart in her life, but holding onto her own wealth will be a hard habit to shake as she feels more in control and secure doing so. I also imagine being charitable isn't popular in the Murder Cult lmao there is definitely a lot more to unpack here
anyway Thank you again!!! I love getting to ramble about this sorta thing
