You mentioned before that the people who would have access to Machete's bedchamber would likely already know about Vasco. How did that come up in your mind? Did they get caught in the act or was the subject broached with enough trust? How did those people handle it? Sorry if this is a bit vague but I thought about it today and I'm very interested. :)
I think it just has to be the case, I can't imagine how they could manage to hide the fact Vasco is bunking with him from everyone, for years and years. Machete doesn't live alone, he has staff and servants who do his housekeeping and run his errands. Even if Vasco didn't stay there for any extended periods of time and snuck out the back door to avoid attention, I'm assuming at least the people who do his laundry and change his sheets would eventually detect that some sort of funny business had happened. But the number of people who are in on it is still very very small and tightly controlled. His assistant Vittorio definitely knows and helps to manage this situation, so does his personal doctor, and on top of that maybe a handful of most trusted high-ranking emplyees, which he has vetted extremely carefully and pays handsomely for their discreetness and prudence.

i stopped habitually opening twitter this week because i realized how bad it was for my mental health and focus and how useless touching the poison ingot was as opposed to doing literally anything else
i was expecting it to be the full trainspotting buckets-near-bed withdrawal experience but tbh shit was easy, especially once i realized being bored is sort of a push to either think thoughts (I KNOW), and confront them even if they are unpleasant, or go find something to do that isnt getting mad and exposing myself to bad takes to power elons chugging money printer
feels good

parallels (warning- spoilers)
knowing from what we know of kingdom hearts timeline, we know that there are some parrallels, some not noticable unless you played a certain part or played a certain game.
but one thing ive noticed is how xehanort and eraqus are parrallel to sora and riku.
xehanort was originally from destiny islands, but like sora, he was basically a person who was trying to fit in with others and had many friends. He was known as a chosen one, and he felt he was one to himself. (sorry if thats not correct, i only know from certain parts of the story, never played dark road.) However unlike sora, he's smart, tactical, and was clearly a good stratagist. but he was awkward.
eraqus was the friend who was loyal to xehanort, just like riku was to sora. a friend loyal and tried his best to stay with xehanort. unlike riku, he's goofy, not very bright, and was very easy to anger. but however, he wanted what seemed best at the time.
their personalities swapped, but clearly there. But as time grew by, something happened to xehanort. memories lost, curiousity turned to insanity, and we get the lovely shot of xehanort handing over the x-blade to sora. bequithing. basically passing on his legacy to sora.
I think what happened is that something, or someone, prevented riku and sora from turning into eraqus and xehanort, not exactly but close. and i think that person is kairi.
In the first game, she's both their goals, to find and save her. she clearly has a really powerful connection to both of them. she clearly respects them both. she is clearly a link between both of them, and thats what saved them from a dark demise.
xehanort and eraqus didnt have that. After losing their friends, they only had each other to comfort and make sure they're ok, and they probably didnt take it so well. they had no third link, just themselves and their own issues. they didnt have a third link, or goals after that, and thats what caused their dark endings.
I could be overthinking it, but there could've been a darker version of the destiny trio.
a version where kairi never came to destiny islands. Sora could've easily fell into xehanort's grasp in DDD. Riku could've easily been maleficent's puppet. because they had no one to stop them. Axel only chased kairi because of her connection to sora, and therefore roxas. Without kairi, axel would'nt be dead, and lea wouldnt be alive to save sora in time.
a horrible timeline- many things couldve easily happen.
xehanort and eraqus are the darker timeline in what could've happened with riku and sora.
and sora and riku are what they could've been had they gone to therapy.
