I didn’t try it -- Takeout only archives emails in MBOX format, which as far as I’m aware is useless if you want a document file of your emails rather than a backup that can only be read by uploading them back into an email client later. Thunderbird with the importexport add on also allows much greater flexibility in how you download the emails, as pdf/html/txt and whether or not you take attachments with you.
