It would have been so easy for Crowley to not declare his love after Aziraphale interrupts and drops his bombshell. It’s so often the trope that someone finally works up the courage to confess something but is then interrupted and when asked, ‘what were you going to say?’ they respond with ‘Oh it wasn’t important’ or something along those lines.
That would have been the easy choice. There still could have been a fight, it still would have been devastating and all of that subtext and all of those unspoken feelings would still have been there but no, they decided to pull out every.single.stop. on the heartbreak front.
I think that was absolutely the right (and brave) decision for the level of drama needed and for that scene. And for their relationship.
But also, I just can’t stop thinking about WHAT IT MUST HAVE TAKEN for Crowley to do that.
He worked up the courage, was interrupted, was given horrendous, shattering news and then STILL DECLARED HIS LOVE ANYWAY
And yes he had to try and he had to make Aziraphale understand but THINK WHAT IT MUST HAVE COST HIM
And then even after the confession not working out and his heart being stomped on again HE STILL WENT FOR A KISS
HE PUT HIS WHOLE ENTIRE HEART ON THE LINE
FUCKING EVERYTHING HE HAD
Imagine what that would take for anyone, LET ALONE CROWLEY
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Bro, can the Good Omens season 3 trailer just be Neil saying "Wait and see"? Like... this last one gave us so much of an emotional ride, maybe not having any idea of season 3 would be better.
Also, Michael Sheen & David Tennant could be in the back fangirling and jumping up and down. That'd be enough for me to watch it, and that's what they are already doing so...

One thing about the Good Omens 2 ending is that it's an ugly kiss.
Like, the kiss itself is ugly to look at, probably uncomfortable to have and just overall not the sweet and tender kiss you want to see.
Which makes sense, since they both have a lot of shit going on.
You hardly ever see couples on TV have ugly kisses, unless one of the characters has bad intentions. But they don't. In actual fact, they both love each other very much. But even loving couples can have bad kisses sometimes. And I imagine neither of them have kissed anyone before.
But even if it's a bad kiss, it's filled with so much raw emotion. It also got the point across, both Crowley and Neil's point. It's brilliant writing because you know you will sacrifice everything to watch Season 3 for the hope of a better kiss. The kiss you want to see.

I finally re-watched the end of Good Omens season 2 episode 6. In the intervening week+ since this episode destroyed me I’ve read all the theories, first as a coping mechanism and then just having fun with what everyone was finding.
I don’t have a big, unique, in-depth theory. All I can share is what I see now that I am not as clouded by emotion, which isn’t difficult as I was sobbing the first time I watched it and still cried this time. Here we go:
It feels like Aziraphale is lying.
He stumbles so many times at the beginning of what he’s saying to Crowley, like he’s still trying to come up with the story or how to tell it without the parts he doesn’t want to share or to get his desired result.
He almost backs out.
After the kiss when the Metatron is asking if he’s ready to go Azi keeps looking to his right, out the window to where the Bentley is parked and where we see Crowley standing next to it in the next scene.
And Azi almost takes back his acceptance. He goes “I think I…” and then he looks, back to where Crowley is, and he struggles to put on a fake smile and he goes.
Those are not the actions of a man-shaped being who is drugged or brainwashed.
Those are the actions of a man-shaped being who is breaking his own heart to protect someone.
I don’t know what really happened in the conversation between Aziraphale and the Metatron but there was a threat made against Crowley. And the face we see him making in the elevator? When he goes from absolute heartbreak to what looks almost sinister? That’s the face of an angel who has been pushed too far. He is determined. And I hope with all of my heart that we see som BAMF!Aziraphale in season 3.

Ok, can I point out something?
Aziraphale got involved with Gabriel especially for one reason:
Tumblr media
he thought the archangel was in trouble and he was ALONE.
So he took care for him.
But there was someone for Gabriel all along.
Tumblr media
Beelzebub 🪰
However Gabriel, without his memory forgot about the Hellish Lord.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder why Gabriel is "attracted" to Aziraphale's place... ...if maybe he could sense something there (I wonder if this would be addressed in the next season or not).
Even Beelzebub recognise Aziraphale's effort there:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm a bit sad that the Lord doesn't mention Crowley too: he wasn't enthusiastic about being a babysitter but he did his best.
Tumblr media
(look how pleased the angel is!)
However it hurts a bit seeing how Aziraphale's caring attitude is often his "downfall".
I hope Aziraphale and Crowley will resolve everything in the next season (meanwhile, I'll probably die inside a bit more every day).
A little extra:
Tumblr media
Can I say Gabriel was super cute when he was thanking Beelz? (Kudos to John Hamm because he was great in this season!).

Good omens season 2 spoilers!!
Oh my god oh my god. In episode three when Crowley and Aziraphale are talking about how to get Nina and Maggie to fall in love, Crowley says “one fabulous kiss, and we’re good” meaning that if Nina and Maggie kiss, they will realize that they love each other.
So, one question:
In episode six, when Crowley confesses his love, and Aziraphale still threatens to leave, what does he do?
He kisses Aziraphale. “One fabulous kiss, and we’re good”…

good omens s2 spoilers below

I wanted to write something about the "coffee theory" that's been going around, where some people believe that Aziraphale only decided to become the Supreme archangel because the Metatron spiked his coffee. I really dislike this theory for a few reasons, mainly:
1. Its purpose is to absolve Aziraphale of any guilt - yes, I love Aziraphale just like everyone else, but a good character isn't infallible. A good character makes mistakes. A good character can be mislead or manipulated without being spiked somehow. I personally believe that the Metatron gave him coffee to manipulate him, yes, but it wasn't spiked with any miracles - he used something he knew Aziraphale would like & would get him to trust him. That's why he mentioned that he too had 'ingested' things from time to time - he wanted to say to Aziraphale, look, even I did those things that you feel guilty about (because Aziraphale certainly does feel guilty about partaking in earthly pleasures). But note that the Metatron, when convincing Aziraphale to become the archangel, doesn't tell him that it's okay to be close with the demon Crowley - he tells him to make Crowley an angel again. This is the Metatron doing the exact opposite as he did with the coffee - telling Aziraphale that no, it is not okay to be close to a demon, only an angel, and in doing so he reinforces the guilt that Aziraphale has over his loving a demon (I also believe this is why Aziraphale looked so upset after the kiss, I think he was angry at himself)
2. It rejects what we already know about Aziraphale - he has always been too forgiving, especially of Heaven, and he always acts 'holier than thou' when it comes to their two separate sides. Since season 1, Aziraphale hasn't been able to relinquish the idea that Heaven is innately good even when Heaven had hurt him and Crowley, and all of the earth to boot. Partially because Aziraphale is too forgiving, and partially because Aziraphale is subject to Heaven's propaganda machine. He deeply believes that Heaven is always in the right, and therefore he must be in the wrong when he goes against them. Most importantly, Aziraphale is constantly trying to change Crowley into someone he isn't in order to pacify the guilt he has over being so close to the 'enemy' and on the side of evil.
3. It doesn't make thematic sense for this have not to have happened - as I said above, Aziraphale has been doing this since season 1.
4. It's an easy way out - I don't think Neil Gaiman would try to reduce the meaning of this interaction and important character development by reducing it to "oh, it was Metatron all along".
I've also seen a lot of people mention how impossible it would be that Aziraphale would give up his bookshop and earthly pleasures to go back to Heaven - and I'd like to note something I found significant. Aziraphale told the Metatron "but I don't want to go back to Heaven" originally, but then the Metatron, fully aware he was manipulating Aziraphale, told him "but you can make Crowley an angel again". This would make Aziraphale think he is sacrificing what he loves on Earth for the sake of Crowley - which certainly changes things. He believes that by giving up these things, he can make Crowley a "good guy" again and thus relieve himself the guilt he has over loving a demon. Aziraphale loves the bookshop, yes, but he loves Crowley more.
Anyways, I don't mean to hate on anyone who believes the coffee theory, I just don't think it would make a lot of thematic sense and would kind of diminish the whole meaning of the interaction to begin with. I get it, I'm sad too. I'm devastated. But this is a lesson that Aziraphale HAS to learn in order for there to ever be a happy ending with him and Crowley.

Wrote a little something:
Title: An Extremely Alcoholic Breakfast at the Ritz
Rated T, 1720 words, no archive warnings
Summary: They’d toasted at the Ritz, again, and had a rather lovely breakfast (or perhaps it was closer to brunch with the amount of alcohol involved) to celebrate the occasion. Well, Aziraphale had breakfast; Crowley had simply settled in to watch and opted to, instead, drink his fill on top shelf alcohol.
“You know, angel,” Crowley pursed his lips around another swig of excellent champagne, “you had me going for a moment there.”
Crowley gets his alcoholic breakfast at the Ritz and Aziraphale gives him a proper first kiss
**this should go without saying, but this is a fix-it for the end of S2 ep6**
