Tonight was your first date ever after parting from your ex-boyfriend from eight months ago. Your friends have tried getting you to go out with them to the clubs or have tried sending you on blind dates with their guy friends, but none of that worked. Once you parted from him, you put yourself first before anyone else. It was a selfish thing to do but you knew you had to recover somehow from that break-up. And going to clubs or meeting multiple men weren’t going to solve the case. About five months into your recovery, you set your business aside and decided to step out for the first time into society after closing yourself up for a while. While being out with your friends on a brunch date, you stumbled across a man who took interest in you and asked if you would like to go out with him some time as he was ordering his iced chocolate-to-go. He found you pretty cute and he really liked your smile. His name was Jaebeom. I’m Jaebeom. He was a year older than you, had broad shoulders and was laidback. And surprisingly beautiful, for a guy. At first, you denied politely as you weren’t looking for anyone at the moment. However, when that cafe became a place for brunch meet-ups with your girls and you coworkers would go there for lunch, you saw him often. He came three times a week; once with his friends and twice by himself. He’d buy your iced caramel macchiato for you and it’d always come with a note. There would be times where he’ll wait outside for you when your lunch was over and he’d walk you back to work with your coworkers. It continued like that for almost a month and people began to say that you should give him a chance since he’s persistent and it seems like he really likes you. It was then you realized that there’s more opportunities and more to your life than bottling yourself up because of a stupid break-up. And he seemed trustful and very caring. And so you finally gave in, giving him a chance. About a month later, he finally asks you to go on a date after three months. You and Jaebeom have gotten really close and both have expressed feelings for each other through phone calls, text messages and him swinging by your apartment complex once a week to give you daisies that he’d pick from his neighbor’s house. You’re as excited as if one of your friends got you something that you really wanted for the longest. You came home from your job that you really enjoy working at and showered to get ready for your date. When you came out, you went straight to your closet and began searching for what to wear. You didn’t feel like going all out, dressed up and wearing make-up. Therefore you went for your usual casual look: a pair of blue jeans with a graphic shirt and sneakers. You put on a little bit of lipstick, to brighten the complexion of your face. Leaving your hair half dried, you combed through it and ruffled it a few times before heading out to meet Jaebeom at the theaters. When you arrived at the theater, you went to sit down at the waiting center near the mini arcade. Then, not too long, a young man sits about two seats or so down from you. He was very tall, nice but pale skin and had soft-looking brown hair. In his hands, he’s got a cup holder with two sodas, a large popcorn, his movie tickets and a wrapped single tulip. How lovely, you thought to yourself. You knew right away that he had to be meeting his lover or someone he’s been seeing for some time and is planning to ask her out. Smiling to yourself, you thought if Jaebeom was going to show up with a bouquet of daisies to surprise you. You checked your phone to see if there were any text messages or calls from him but sadly, there were none. Looking at your watch, it read 6:38 PM. The movie starts at 7 PM and you began to wonder where he was. You called him four times and texted him as well but there was still response. So you waited. And waited. And waited even more. The young man who sat down from you had already gone inside, though he didn’t meet his partner yet. But that’s okay, they’ll meet inside. Until it was fifteen minutes into the movie already. It made you upset that he didn’t show up. Checking your watch again, it read 7:20 PM. It’s been twenty minutes now that you’ve waited. ��Miss, are you not going to watch the movie?” The security guard asks. “If not, we’re going to shut the doors now.” “Oh, uh, sure. That’s fine, you can close it. I can always come watch it another time.” You tell the elder. He smiles and walks back to the auditorium of the movie you both were suppose to see. Sighing, you stood up and began walking towards the exit when someone shouts after you. “Hey!” It’s a man’s voice. Turning around thinking that it was Jaebeom, you see that it’s the man from earlier who was sitting down from you. He catches up to you, clutching the tulip tightly and panting. “Oh? Weren’t you inside already?” You asked. “Aren’t you...meeting someone?” “Well, I was.. But she never showed up. I’ve been waiting at the door the whole time, hoping to see her.” He tells you. “What about you?” “Well, sad to say that my date didn’t show up either. Therefore, I was going head home.” You tell him. “Hm, in that case, care to join me? I do have an extra ticket.” He asks politely with a soft smile. You blink twice, wondering if you heard correctly. “And... I can’t finish two sodas and a large popcorn by myself, you know.” He chuckles. Smiling softly, you nodded your head. “Well, I’m honored to join you.” You respond and the man smiles widely right away. “After you.” He says, using his arm to direct you towards the auditorium. He quickly stops you and says, “This might sound weird but I hope you don’t mind tulips.” He shyly tells you, as you both walk side by side, handing you the wrapped tulip. Laughing, you accepted his tulip. “Tulips are meant for declaring love.” You tell him and he seems to know that already. You give him a shy smile then continued walking. As you observe the pastel-colored tulip he handed to you, you missed him looking at you so lovingly while you ramble on about flower symbology. In the middle of that, you stop to introduce yourself, “By the way, I’m Y/N.” “I’m Yoogyeom.” He gently responds and you guys enter the auditorium and proceed into finishing tonight’s movie date.
