I have a personal affliction with Francisco Goya. To me he is one of the greatest artist of his time. Although he painted portraits to make income but his most profound works such as prints, little sketches, and this one are some of the most powerful statements visual artist can make and contribute to #humancivilization Perhaps one day I will paint something to express these ideas in my own #language, in my own #artsymbols , in my own #artwords , with my own #brushstrokes I have learned my brushstrokes from Goya, #claudemonet #edouardmanet and #VincentvanGogh dog. I didn’t learn my brushstrokes from #LeonardodaVinci because you can’t see any brushstrokes in Leonardo‘s paintings. He developed a technique called “sfumato” in plain English it’s called the foggy. Goya was one of the greatest thinkers of his time and I believe #Spanishcourt didn’t appreciate his talent fully. From the point of view of “#surrealistic #art #visions “ he contributed to “#visionaryart “ more than anyone in the 20th century. You may disagree and use as a “strong card “ #SalvadorDali But I would like to point out “visions of Salvador #Dali are profoundly #Catholic or very personal struggles”. I met Dali in 1987. I visited him when I was living in Spain he looked at my drawings and all he could say is -“go with God!”…(-“ Anda con dios!” ) When I try to get into Francisco’s mind I realize how self-confident, #independent and futuristic he was. It was a man ahead of his time at least 200 years. You cannot say this about every one of the artist we know today. There is nothing prophetic in the artworks of Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, #kandinsky or #malevich . Many #arthistorian consider #JeanMichelBasquiat a visionary who looked into the future but I personally disagree. Jean Michelle was a victim of corporate abuse, personal abuse, drug abuse. Basically he was a victim of social struggles still going on in US. #basquiat knew that well. #goya #goyaart #goyapaintings #franciscogoya #prado #pradomuseum #artmuseums https://www.instagram.com/p/CR7zvj8rFNm/?utm_medium=tumblr
