It was nice catching up with old band mate Greg Ginn and Black Flag in New Orleans tonight. The time I spent working with this man were the most inspiring, intense and ultimately rewarding years of my life. I learned so much about discipline, hard work, taking chances and giving your absolute all from him. No one in music ever worked harder or gave so much to so many. How many musicians would be willing to spend a week locked up in the LA County jail for the right to control their music. How many could survive 8-12 hours of rehearsal a day, every single day for months on end to make sure everything was as tight and intense as possible all the while running the largest independent rock music label in the world and being considered one of the most influential guitarists and punk rock songwriters of the past 40 years. Everyone from Nirvana to Metallica to White Zombie have been directly influenced by this man and his many accomplishments. There is no one else who could have done all of this but Greg.
