Introvert at Guide School

I’m currently attending guide school in Spain. The weather’s great, the food is good, and... I’m an introvert. And of course anxiety decided to kick in here on day 9...

The weird thing is... here, we’re taught not to let anything personal shine through. The rumor around guide schools is that it’s party 24/7. Writing this, anxiety has a good grip on me. My classmates are out partying and celebrating one of the other’s birthday. Where? I don’t know. ‘Till when? I don’t know. I haven’t been invited. I’m sitting in my hotel room, alone, as I just said goodbye to my roommate.

This is not a complaint. I’m just giving a little insight in the life here. I haven’t been asked out to lunch, ice cream or drinks at any point during my soon 2 week stay, though I daily ask for someone to do this with. The loneliness of being an introvert here is killing me. I don’t want to ruin the other’s night or bothering them. I’d like to go out for one drink at one of the nice bars just down the street where you can sit outside and enjoy the evening. But I don’t want to bother them. I don’t want to be annoying. I don’t know anything about this arrangement, except that 52/73 of my classmates are participating tonight...

The next 2 weeks will be tough. I spent money on this that was intended for something else, just to experience something new. I’m more than 5000 kilometers away from my friends and family, and here, I’m just the odd one out again...

Looking back at my trip that has spread 58 days, multiple states, all my money (and then some) and a new outlook on life... I couldn't ask for anything better at this point in my life.
