The Gulfstream V (GV) Business Jet

The Gulfstream V (GV) was introduced in 1995 and first entered service in 1997. It is an upgrade to the G4 model with a number of improvements including a longer cabin / fuselage, increased baggage compartment and increased wingspan.

One of the motivations behind The Gulfstream V was the ability to extend the range to ultra long. Completing this would be a first for the company and introduce a longer range aircraft to their lineup. This would push the range to approximately 6,500 nautical miles. Which apparently at that time, only large aircraft / airliners were capable of completing.

Powered by two Rolls-Royce BR710 engines with 14,750 lbs thrust each. The Gulfstream V has a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.885 and a maximum range of 6,500 nautical miles. In terms of maximum altitude, the aircraft can reach 51,000 ft.

Approximate measurements of the cabin are 6' 1" in height, 7'3" in width and 50 ft 10" in length. The baggage compartment is approximately 226 cubic feet and is accessible in-flight. The GV can seat up to 18 passengers including pilot and crew. Plus, depending on its configuration, can have up to four living areas.

Also: -The GV was also awarded the 1997 Robert J Collier trophy. -The wingspan on The Gulfstream V has increased by approximately 16 ft 4". With an increased wingspan, this helps the aircraft to reach higher altitudes.
