Alright, so given that I accidentally deleted the original prior to posting (call it queued posts or call it scheduled posts, not both), I might as well do this again
Given that I’ve been talking about it a lot lately, what do I think of the Gundam Gusion’s designs?
Tumblr media
First up, the “original” Gundam Gusion, as it appears when being used by the space pirate organisation Brewers. Honestly, I love this thing. It’s one of two High Grades (the other being the Kimaris) that I bought when season 1 was coming out (a practice that I regrettably didn’t have the opportunity to repeat with G-Witch). But yeah, a big chunky, round, frog-looking Gundam, it really stands out in a lineup, but without being too flashy. Another part of it will be my preference for specialised suits over generalists - the original Gusion’s armed with a hammer, submachine gun and grenades (and an axe if you read the manga) in addition to the built-in anchor cannons. I really like how tight it’s loadout is - it can carry it all, and still retain its mobility for fighting in the debris zones. It’s a superheavy raid suit designed for very-short range anti-ms and anti-ship combat - tailor made for a space pirate outfit. All that said though, I think it’s good that it’s essentially just a brief foe to Tekkadan and doesn’t outstay it’s welcome - it’s a unit based on Kudal’s style of excess, so once he’s dead, it shouldn’t hang around long enough for it’s flaws to become apparent and it’s a memorable foe nonetheless.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next up, the Gundam Gusion Rebake. Honestly, I didn’t like this one so much when it first appeared. Partially because there’s so little fanfare, but I thought it looked too similar to the Barbatos (especially compared to its predecessor and the Kimaris). Not helping matters is my understanding that both Gusion Rebakes were shafted from a High Grade perspective (The Axe is in an option set, and they both contain a lot of white wraparound colour correcting stickers in addition to requiring further colour correction - I try to paint instead of using wraparound stickers, but white can be a struggle). With the reveal of the Gusion Rebake Full City, I went back and reevaluated it. I came to appreciate the smoother form, the rounded lines. I like how it clearly retains some elements of the original Gusion (the shield and the backpack being made from Gusion’s back and legs, respectively), while taking some from the Barbatos (along with some spare armour). It makes a nice halfway house between the two designs, while still having its own unique elements. I do like its head very much, it’s sleek and rounded and the long-range emphasis helps it considerably. I’m quite fond of the rounded legs too, they remind me of the Gundam Ground type, another unit that was equally comfortable at range or close-quarters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, the Gundam Gusion Rebake Full City. Given that I said that this caused me to reevaluate the Gusion Rebake, I mustn’t like this one so much? Not so! The Gusion Rebake Full City has a wonderfully blocky design that lends it much more weight than the original, even though it’s overall mass doesn’t increase that much. The aforementioned unique elements of the Gusion Rebake have blossomed wonderfully, fully divorcing it from the Gusion and Barbatos. It’s new, more inhuman design plays into Tekkadan’s reputation as “the devils of Mars” and this is very apparent during its fight with Galan Mossa (the bearded gentleman). Armament-wise, it’s not too much over the Gusion Rebake. I do like it’s arm rockets, but the Variable Scissor rear armour….. okay, yes it is silly, because I alway think Akihiro should get shot in the middle of using it. However a) if any suit can multitask it’s probably the Gusion Rebake Full City b) it’s typically only used against single/armoured enemies. And c) it is essentially the last word in anti-armour weaponry, so it being unwieldy is perhaps an acceptable trade-off. I have a habit of considering a lot of IBO’s weaponry as silly until I actually consider the setting (Mobile suits have a *slightly* different origin in IBO when compared to other settings), so I’m perhaps lenient on it. The Gusion Rebake Full City also has the distinction of being in one of my favourite scenes in Iron-Blooded Orphans, which gives it brownie points (though to be fair it’s hardly unique in that regard, with Flauros and Bael also having similar honours).

Shino, Yamagi and Eugene give some adorkable meta commentary on the Mobile Suit Gundam: Try Age cards:
[Shino] and Try-Age "It's amazing, isn't it! I can't believe there's a card of mine that can be used in a machine called Try-Age!! If you use it, you'll be able to admire my cool and brave figure! I'm so excited! My card must be more popular than Mikazuki's or Akihiro's! Whoever gets it is super lucky, they must be so happy they won't be able to sleep tonight, right!? (Norba Shino) [Yamagi] and Try-Age "This is Gjallarhorn's....... this helps a lot. I think the try age cards are very useful as mobile suit data, even if they are just for fun. As usual, we don't have a lot of leeway, so we'll use whatever we can ...Um, in that case, if you have any other cards, could you please give them to me? Like Shino's Ryusei-Go ...they're based on the same Graze model, and I was wondering if I could have one for comparison." (Yamagi Gilmerton) (Isurugi's Schwalbe Graze card)
[Eugene] and Try-Age "Huh, if you take this card to a machine called Try-Age, you can play with it like fighting with mobile suits. Since this one has Gusion Rebake drawn on it, does that mean there are other cards with Isaribi as well? .....Whaat, you don't have any~! Sure its a battleship, but it moves super fast you know? Let me show you next time, it's fine, it's fine! That's the authority of the deputy boss! (Eugene Sevenstark)

I built my second gunpla- Gundam Bael from Iron Blood Orphans. Hate the Pilot, but damn if that ain't a cool looking mobile suit
It took me about 2 days- not 48 hours, it was more like 6 total. There's a lot more pieces than I remember from last time, and this one is more flexible too. Lots more tiny pieces as well. Still, a good way to work my hands.
I might consider another in the future. I'd REALLY love to find Barbatos Lupus Rex and Gusion Rebake Full City, but generally I am open to whatever looks coolest and is on sale at the moment.
Fuck those stickers though. Why are they so TINY

a few of my thoughts on the 3 new G-Witch kits:
Not!Gundam Lfrith
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it’s totally another Lfrith. Why is Bandai so secretive 😂 is the name itself a spoiler? “Mass-produced Gundam” or something?
It could be a Gundam for a major character, but its loadout seems too basic. Not even a GUND-BIT shield?
Lots of shared frame parts with the pink Lfrith. Check out the diagonal panels on the upper legs, the two pipes behind the knee joints, and the drum-shaped feet joints. Not to mention the shoulders and elbows
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gundam Schwarzette
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Very Jeturk elements, especially the Darilbalde. The halo, backs of the legs, the location of the shell units, shape of the torso. Cloven hooves are almost like the Dilanza
Hopefully the sword will have some nifty features (it splits into two?)
Double-jointed elbows! Lfrith and Aerial, eat your heart out!
Might be Guel’s new MS, but 1. it doesn’t have a polearm when both his MS used polearms, and 2. the colour scheme doesn’t scream Guel to me. It fits Lauda though
Demi Barding
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Likely Chuchu the Chad’s new MS. Colour scheme reminds me of Gusion Rebake. If this had four arms it would be even cooler than it already is!
Very intricate shoulder design, I’m worried some of those circular details will be stickers
Honestly kind of loving that Demi Trainer head on the backpack, it’s like a discount version of Seraphim. It would be cool if it could detach and act like a drone of sorts
“barding” is a term for horse armour, so extra mobility can be expected
Also like that the new rifle has no attachments/wires, so it can be posed more freely
Unrelated but Demi Trainer fans rejoice! Bandai liked it so much, they ported it to 30MM!
Tumblr media
and the mystery of New Product A continues...

Title: Dade's Gusion
Dade is now transfer to Tekkadan organization after joining forces with Harvey and they went separate ways. He's now the heavy muscle of the Tekkadan with his two New "Cuteness Mecha Armor" depend what he chose. 💪🙂
Dade's Gusion & Gusion Rebake. Came from the real ASW-G-11 Gundam Gusion and Gundam Gusion Rebake.
Gusion Dade's Armaments:
• Gusion Hammer A hammer used by the Gusion that uses its mass in order to deal heavy damage. It weighs in excess of 15 tons, and has four thrusters at the back of the hammer head which help control the weapon's trajectory as well as its impact shock. It is stored on the back when not in use.
• 90mm Submachine Gun A mobile suit-use submachine gun that is widely circulated, pirates favor the weapon due to its relatively low price.Due to its light weight, it is easy to handle. It is stored on the rear waist armor when not in use.
• Vulcan Gun A pair of vulcan guns are mounted on the top of Gusion's head, they have a high-rate of fire but little power. The vulcan guns can however damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors and are ideal for intercepting incoming missiles or enemy units at close range. Gusion's vulcan guns can also be used to fire signal flares.
• Hand Grenade Two hand grenades are stored behind each side skirt armor, for a total of four hand grenades. The hand grenades can be released from storage directly to act as space mines, deterring pursuing enemy units.
• 400mm Buster Anchor The Gusion's chest houses four 400mm Buster Anchors, they are high-caliber cannons used for attacking ships and mobile suits.
• Gusion Chopper A short size hatchet-like weapon that increases the mobile suit's power in close combat. There are thrusters on the opposite side of the blade, and they can be activated at the time of impact to deal greater damage. Can be stored on the rear waist armor when not in use. This weapon was most likely confiscated by Tekkadan, since it was used by the Gusion Rebake.
Gusion Dade Rebake's Armaments:
• Shield Modified from the Gusion's back armor, it is one of the final remnants of Gusion's time as a heavily-armored mobile suit. As such, this large shield has very high defense capabilities, being able to withstand and even deflect the opponents thrust at full speed with no apparent damage to its surface. The shield is mounted on the left forearm when used, and when not in use, it is mounted on the rear-waist, serving as the rear skirt armor and provides additional thrusters. The Gusion Rebake Halberd can be stored on the shield's underside.
• Gusion Rebake Halberd A battle axe with an extendable handle. When the handle is fully extended, it has higher attack power when swung as well as a broader effective range. By retracting the handle, it can serve as a short axe for close combat at shorter range or to serve as a throwing weapon. When not in use, it is stored behind the shield in the short axe form.
• Long-Range Rifle A modified, long range version of the Graze's 120mm rifle that was created by Teiwaz engineers that are with the Turbines. Thanks to the longer barrel and the added scope, its long range accuracy has been greatly improved. However, its firing rate is slower than the Graze's 120mm rifle.
• Smoothbore Gun The same weapon as used by Barbatos. It is a 300mm caliber gun with a 60mm machine-gun at the bottom, though its emphasis was placed on power rather than accuracy. Although it is produced for use mainly in zero gravity environment and space, it seems to function fine when used under gravity. The Gusion Rebake wielded a pair of these during its first battle on Earth.
• Gusion Chopper A short size hatchet-like weapon that increases the mobile suit's power in close combat. There are thrusters on the opposite side of the blade, and they can be activated at the time of impact to deal greater damage.
• Battle Blade Obtained from the EB-06j Graze Ground Type during the battle outside Edmonton, the battle blade is a sword-type melee weapon that is developed for ground combat and is easy to wield due to its lightweight.
Gusion Dade Rebake's Features:
• Sub-Arm Derived from Graze's arms, a sub-arm is stored in each of the backpack booster pod. The output of these arms are comparable to the Gusion Rebake's main arms, and can fire the Graze's 120mm Rifle with high accuracy. They can also be used in melee combat, attacking the enemy with the halberd.
• Aiming Mode The top head scope of the Gusion Rebake can reveal a green light projector visor, the configuration better suited for long range combat. In Aiming Mode, the high sensitivity sensors in the head performs at their maximum capability. For users of the Alaya-Vijnana System, this mode not only grants them visual range beyond those of the normal human's but also the ability to visualize the flow of the electromagnetic waves.

Note
Yo, remember when I asked you about HG Kimaris Vidar and you said it had some terrible colour correcting stickers? Well I'm working my 5th HG right now, and I think it's an issue with all the IBO MSs, or at least the Gundams. Aerial and Darilbalde had few and manageable stickers, but Bael and Barbatos Lupus Rex had some egregious ones, and the stickers on Gusion Rebake Fullcity legit made me want to learn how to paint models.
The consensus seems to be that G-witch high grades are just better all round in that regard. The thing is that I know it doesn't have to be that way, the MG Barbatos can be built without any stickers whatsoever and still look good, I think the 1/100 full mechanics kits are better too, though maybe comparing HGs to 1/100 scale kits isn't entirely fair. Does make me wonder what RG IBO kits might look like.

So I have finally played my first Gundam video game and that happened to be SD Gundam Battle Alliance and I am really glad it was because playing this game give me the realization that there are good Gundam video games out there.
This game is really good fun. The combat is fun and fast paced, as it should be. There is a wealth different mobile suits from a lot of the different anime. I am going to list every mobile suit in the game because I can.
RX-78-2 Gundam, Guncannon, Guntank, GM, Zaku II Type F, Dom, Char’s Z’Gok & Char’s Gelgoog.
Gundam Ground Type, Gundam Ez8 & Gouf Custom.
Gundam Alex, GM Sniper II & Kampfer.
Full Armor Thunderbolt Gundam, Psycho Zaku & Gundam GP03S Stamen.
Zeta Gundam, Hyaku Shiki, Qubeley & The-O.
ZZ Gundam & Full Armor ZZ Gundam.
Nu Gundam, Sazabi & Hi-Nu Gundam.
Unicorn Gundam, Full Armor Unicorn Gundam, Banshee, Banshee Norn, Kshatriya, Sinanju & Narrative Gundam C-Packs.
Gundam F91, Crossbone Gundam X1, Crossbone Gundam X2 & V2 Assault Buster Gundam.
Turn A Gundam, Turn X, Burning Gundam, Master Gundam, Wing Gundam Zero & Gundam Epyon.
Gundam Double X, Freedom Gundam, Justice Gundam Providence Gundam & Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina.
Destiny Gundam, Strike Freedom Gundam, Infinite Justice Gundam, Legend Gundam, Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai & Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second Revise.
00 Raiser, Cherudim Gundam. Arios Gundam, Seravee Gundam, Gundam Exia Repair II, Arche Gundam, Reborns Gundam, 0 Gundam (Type A.C.D) & 00 QAN[T}.
Gundam AGE-FX, G-Self (Perfect Pack), Gundam Barbatos (6th Form), Gundam Barbatos Lupus, Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex, Gundam Gusion Rebake Full City, Gundam Bael, Gundam Kimaris Vidar & Reginlaze Julia (Final Battle)
Musha Gundam, Knight Gundam, Command Gundam, Gundam Latreia, Liu Bei Unicorn Gundam, Cao Cao Wing Gundam, Sun Jian Gundam Astray & Phoenix Gundam.
So, yeah, there are a lot of mobile suit to play and collect in this game. Now, personally, I find that can be the one downside to this game as well. See, once you do the main story and the DLC stories, there isn’t much left to do. The only thing you really can do is replay story missions as chaos missions and yeah it’s just going after blueprints to mobile suit you may have some but not all of or just not have yet. Some people may find that fun but I personally have already become bored of it. But that is really the only negative thing I have for this game. I definitely recommend giving this a play.

*the following contains spoilers for Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans Urdr Hunt*
Alright, so I’ve finally finished Gundam Ibo Urdr Hunt, and I’ll be doing a proper post on it momentarily, but I do want to get one thing out right now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I kind of really love the Hajiroboshi Second Form.
Which is a little odd in isolation, since it’s not actually that different from the original Hajiroboshi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s really just got new shoulders, the new boosters on its backpack (the head might have been reworked slightly, but I think that might just be me) and a new sword. However, two of these features (the Boosters and Sword) bring it closer to its original form.
Tumblr media
Just looking at its armaments on their own, I like them. I will admit I have a weakness for suits that are “We have a sword, let’s just use that really really well”. I like both the Destiny and the Throne Zwei for those reasons. But the Hajiroboshi second form has some points in its favour that those two don’t- it’s in Post Disaster 324, a setting where that is a very viable strategy, and it’s got those lovely thrusters on its back that seem to primarily serve to get it into melee range (not to mention the harpoons). I also like the shield -it’s streamlined, but not to the point of not being protective, and while I like how it’s got the claw tips for thrusting, it’s nice how there’s so little emphasis on them (though that might just be from the last protagonist suit I looked at being the Lah). But the Cross Mace hearkens back to the main sword of its original armament and the thrusters also bring it closer to the original silhouette of the Marchosias
So it kinda just feels like the ghost of the Marchosias.
Which is great, because both the Hajiroboshi and Barbatos seem to have something going on in that regard. Mikazuki talks to the Barbatos during the battle against Ein in Edmonton as if there’s some last vestige of its former pilot present, while the Hajiroboshi seems to react on its own when encountering mobile armours. Based on what we know about Gundam Frames from the original series, it’s typically some form of interaction with the Alaya-Vijnana (like when the Gusion Rebake gets shut down when attempting to engage the mobile armour, since Akihiro gets overwhelmed by the feedback). The Barbatos’ connection is obvious - Mikazuki’s in a high stress situation when using the Alaya-Vijinana, and presumably he’s doing something similar to what the original pilot did - using the sword to fight an enemy not too dissimilar to a mobile armour. However, the Hajiroboshi’s is considerably less clear. It seems to either lock up, as the Gusion Rebake did, implying it’s fitted with a limiter; or it seems to “flash back” to a similar fight from the calamity war (at least that’s my read on it versus Harael) and from there act as if it has the “True Alaya-Vijinana” installed (it’s only in speech marks because I don’t really have a better term for it). It’s honestly a little unclear on whether it’s Hajiroboshi, the Mobile Armour or both that has the flash backs, since it’s from Harael’s perspective but Wistario mentions seeing them.
So presumably, the Hajiroboshi’s fitted with some kind of system that mimics Alaya-Vijinana, but I would like to offer another suggestion; What if, on some level, the pilots are still in them?
Now, we know that Alaya-Vijinana is a man-machine interface developed prior to the calamity war, but there’s two specific pieces of information that we’re told about it I want to focus on;
“The Alaya-Vijinana creates a Pseudo-brain lobe in the pilot’s body using nanomachines, allowing the pilot's brain to directly process mobile suit data fed through the physical connection.”
“Furthermore, this continuous link can cause consciousness to be forcibly maintained even in situations where the pilot is supposed to faint or even die instantly.”
So, an extra brain lobe to process the information and the system will keep the pilot alive even in situations where they shouldn’t be. So, is it possible there could be some sort of feedback loop or that the mobile suit could retain some of the pilot’s habits (the Barbatos telling Mikazuki how to use the katana through a sort of frame-wide “muscle memory” of its previous pilot).
It’s also interesting that this seems to happen during moments of great stress for their modern pilots - at those points when the greatest amount of data would be moving from the person to the mobile suit. So, if, say for example, a pilot was regularly facing strong enemies in life-or-death situations, might the system retain that data too? The heightened reaction speed, the chemical reactions leading to emotional output, the movements of the pilot to resolve the situation. The Calamity War was a time when humanity was desperately pushed to the brink by the mobile armours, it’s very unlikely that they would have taken the time to work out all the bugs in the system (heck, if they were taking high pilot losses, it might have been seen as a bonus).
So yeah, the Hajiroboshi might be haunted.
As the Hajiroboshi appears as a ghost of the Marchosias, there might also be another ghost in the machine.
I just thought that it’s a rad connection.

Once, men gave minds to machines, only for them to turn against humanity. Once, men built machines to fight monsters. Seventy-Two were made to stand above all. Now, only Twenty-Six remain.
They are the protectors of humanity. They are the demons we made deals with to strike against the Angels of our creation. They are the reminder of the Calamity
They are Gundam.
