Remember James, construction master extraordinaire? He had a brand new baby boy a few weeks ago and has now returned to finish up Oscar’s new pad with a custom gate! He’s super skilled, knowledgeable, hardworking, and always comes up with exactly the right designs to maximize the safety and well-being of our rescued residents. Oscar is supervising today and making sure James provides plenty of snacks. 🍃 🐢 If you’d like to donate to Oscar’s new habitat (fencing, gate, predator-proof house, dig-proof rebar border, sprinkers, gates, edible plants, and James’ labor) you can do so at Venmo, PayPal, or the link in our bio! This wonderful new habitat will grow with him and protect him for many, many years. 💕 #grateful #handyman #constructionmaster #tortoise #habitatconstruction #oscar #thankyoudonors #thankyoujames #sulcatatortoise #sulcatasofinstagram #rescuedanimals #sanctuarylife #blackberrycreek #loveoneanother #workhardandbenicetopeople #thankyou #farmanimalsanctuary #tortoisesofinstagram @jimmykropp (at Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary) https://www.instagram.com/p/CR6_l8UpP0M/?utm_medium=tumblr

Anna and Kristoff taking a refreshing swim in one of their little pools. That green spot in the background is a large pond completely overgrown with cattails and blackberries. Our GIANT project this fall will be rerouting the creek to dry the pond (after safely relocating any wildlife living in to another nearby pond), excavating to remove settled sediment, reeds, and brambles, clearing and refencing the back bank and, constructing safe duck and goose houses along the shore. This will allow for a large, healthy, and more natural habitat for our dicks and geese along with the ability for us to rescue more waterfowl in need. We will also be adding a pond pump and water storage tanks to help with property irrigation and fire protection of the property. We will have an awesome Boy Scout working with us and will be reaching out to the community for help with funding, equipment donation, and construction. If you’d like to help we will need: 1.) Donation of a backhoe and forest masticator/brush cutter rental for 2-4 days. 2.) Volunteers to move the cut brush to chippers and burn piles. 3.) Sponsors (private or company-based) to sponsor funding of multiple waterfowl houses with safety features including locking doors, hardware cloth window screens, etc. 4.) Donation of wooden posts, t-posts, three 100’ x 6’ woven wire fence rolls, landscaping rocks, water storage tanks, and all-weather feed stations. 5.) Volunteers who are familiar with plumbing and/or outdoor water features to install a pond fountain and a pump for water storage tanks (for irrigation and fire safety). If you’d like to help with this project in any capacity (funding, volunteering, rental equipment assistance, material donations), please reach out to us at [email protected] #blackberrycreek #loveoneanother #habitatconstruction #sanctuary #farmanimalrescue #goose #duckduckgoose #waterfowlhabitat #duckofinstagram #duckoftheday #geeseofinstagram #helpothers #rescuedandloved #bekind #sacramento #sacramentovegan #sacvegan #veganfortheanimals #annaandkristoff #rescuedanimals #animallovers #volunteersrock #donorsrock #placercounty #animalrescue #animalsanctuary #farmsanctuary (at Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRPQ-WOJfrr/?utm_medium=tumblr
