The recipient of January's Giving Tap is Found In Thyme, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit farm sanctuary in Wantage that specializes in welcoming disabled, neglected, senior and special needs barnyard animals. Co-founded by Stephanie and Trevor McPherson, their mission is to provide every animal placed on their farm a soft and loving place to land, ensuring that they receive the proper care and treatment that they deserve. As a recipient of the Giving Tap, Found In Thyme will receive $1.00 from every draft sold on that tap this month, but to go one step further, we are collecting Christmas candy canes and peppermint candies for their horses! The candy is good for the horses' digestion and it stimulates their appetite, which is great for the older horses they care for! A drop-off box can be found inside Krogh's main entrance and it is accessible during business hours daily. Did you know that despite popular myth, cows don’t automatically produce milk?

Just like humans - cows only produce milk if they are pregnant or have recently given birth. They’re often artificially inseminated in order to give birth each year and continue producing milk. When we drink their milk, their babies can’t.

They aren’t “dairy cows” - they’re cows used for dairy, and it’s time we treat them as someone - not something for profit. 💚

How Wanting to Start a Farm Sanctuary has Changed my Life...

...in only a month. It seems obvious in hindsight, but I didn't know I was going to become an ethical vegan. At least not in four weeks. I mean, I'm not completely there yet, but it's coming. Already a vegetarian, will be eating vegan by the end of 2021, and planning to be totally vegan (clothes, toiletries, etc) by March 2022.

What's interesting is how it's happening... it isn't necessarily my thoughts, but a physical reaction I am having to eating animal protein. I feel out of control, I don't have a choice in the matter. In the end, I do want this. I want to do best by every living creature on the planet, but ya know... it would have been nice if my mind and body had asked me first. lol

I symbolically adopted a flock of turkeys at the Farm Sanctuary. The birds have seen a lot of suffering, and though 35 bucks a bird doesn't sound like much when you think about the cost of food and vet care, it feels great to contribute even in this small way. Every dollar counts. To Tutu, Sandy, Jackie, Venus and Ferris: may you be happy, safe, protected, and free from harm forever and ever.
