TQ was released one year ago today, and it not only gave me a story with a cool concept and fun characters that I adore, but it also introduced me to a bunch of awesome people and creators online who love this game as much as I do
So, to commemorate the game’s release, I give you this Polaroid of the counselors having some summer fun
Happy Anniversary Hacketteers! 🐻
Fun Fact: I didn’t wanna draw the background or the floorboards bc I’m ✨lazy✨, so I just reused a background from a tarot card project I never posted and the wood beams from the TQ themed 80’s horror movie poster I made last year

What careers I think the counselors pursued after the quarry.
Most of these are based off the jobs they worked at camp.
Laura - Easy. Veterinary medicine. Specifically I think she’d be more comfortable working at a zoo or a wildlife reserve with tigers or bears (real bears) instead of putting animals down all day.
Max - after not getting accepted into whatever college Laura did, he decided not to pursue college. Or maybe he did, and just took online courses instead so he wouldn’t have to be away from Laura. either way, he ends up becoming a mechanic.
Jacob - I’m honestly not sure, but he definitely has a sports scholarship. I’m not sure he knew himself what exact career he wanted to pursue during the events of the game, but he would probably I could see him becoming a physical therapist or a personal trainer. Maybe both.
Kaitlyn - Gets a degree in business and runs her own. Not sure what type of business, but boy is she running it. She starts small but definitely climbs the latter and becomes a rather impressive business woman (KAITLYN IN A SUIT KAITLYN IN A SUIT)
Ryan - He does end up going to animation school, but halfway through one of his grandparents gets really sick and passed. The other dies of a broken heart less than a year afterwards, so he’s forced to drop out to provide for Sarah. Luckily a small indie studio hires him despite not having a degree and he’s able to make ends meet.
Nick - Culinary arts. My only reference for this is the fact that he works in the kitchen at camp. But it’s fitting. I’d imagine he’d the type of person who can make a really impressive meal out of seemingly nothing. Yelling for runners is also a pretty good way to purge those anger issues of his.
Dylan - Quantum Physics, obviously. I could definitely see him using science theories to try and explain the whole werewolf incident. Eventually I think he’d end up working at a research center trying to figure out nuclear fission. He ends up becoming the breadwinner between him and Ryan.
Abi - She went to art school and dropped out because she didn’t agree with what she was being taught. She ends up doing commissions online with the help of Emma for publicity, eventually she also ends up working with Ryan at the indie studio as a character design artist.
Emma - You can’t tell me this diva isn’t going into theatre. She’ll probably play Sharpay at least once. She also keeps up her online presence, but goes on hiatus for a bit during college.

I think we can all agree that watching the cast of The Quarry getting grilled by the cops Until Dawn style would’ve been INFINITELY more interesting than that hellish podcast (then again, that’s a low bar 👁👁).
Until Dawn had PLENTY of flaws don’t get me wrong, but the credit sequence was fucking genius. You’re just sat listening to all these poor kids recapping the most horrifying experience anyone can go through, and you can see exactly how much they’ve changed since the beginning. Just imagine the interactions we would’ve gotten out of it! WAY more closure story-wise, and it could’ve been used to drive home the consequences of your actions through different dialogue options based on player choice.
I liked how it was used before and I think it could’ve given us further insight into our characters, the newspaper clippings could’ve been used in conjunction to communicate the outcome they faced after the interrogation and how the evidence collecting mechanic effects the ending.

insane headcanon/AU that the Until Dawn kids were camp counselors for the Hacketeers.
head girl's counselor is Emily, Emma loves her and they take super cute "Big Em, Little Em" pics together all the time. She (and Jessica) teach little Em how to do her eyeliner and crop all of her clothes and how to deal with stupid boys. When Emma feels insecure and doesn't think perfect Emily will relate, Jessica teaches her about 'fake it til you make it' confidence. By the end of the summer, Emma has Jacob wrapped around her finger, but Abi is the one she'll be keeping in touch with.
head boy's counselor is Chris, he's the most popular of the group, both with his friends and the kids. After seeing Dylan by himself the first few days, he teaches him how to make friends using humor and pranks.
Ryan's favorite counselor is Josh--he thinks it's amazing that Josh's dad makes horror movies, and Josh tells him all kinds of behind the scenes facts. Josh also helps him make the spookiest ghost stories. Chris, Josh, Ryan and Dylan are kind of menaces when they're all together, but it's hard to stay mad at them.
Ashley, in charge of arts and crafts, and Abi bond immediately, though this causes some friction as it makes Abi and Emma argue over who is cooler--Ash or Emily. Ashley encourages Abi's art, and giving Abi advice about her crush on the more popular Emma makes Ash realize she needs to do something about her own crush on super popular Chris.
Sam quickly takes Kaitlyn and Laura under her wing, with lots of chill, practical survival advice. Sam takes the classic camp experience seriously, but not too seriously, and both Kait and Laura want to be a counselor just like her. Kaitlyn turns out to be a crackshot at the range and Laura is talented in first aid.
Max and Jacob initially gravitate to Mike, seeing how cool he is and how both Jessica and Emily like him (Laura is Max's neighbor and first love and this summer, he wants to be more than friends). When Mike's relationship drama stirs up, Max shifts to the quieter Matt--but Mike's love of animals shows Jacob that it's okay for a popular, macho guy to have a softer side.
Matt is in his first year as a counselor, and although he's in charge of sports activities, he still feels like a camper himself. Working with quiet, newly immigrated Nick is a perfect fit, as they bond over sports and Matt is able to use his connections with the other counselors and their Hacketeers to help Nick make friends.
