Love you

Getting my portfolio in order. Scanning old drawings and sketches so you can get more of the behind the scenes experience with my work.

This one was sketched out as an idea for a show at @atomicroosterottawa. I had entered the show with @casperz89 and it was the first collaboration that I had ever had with @caffeeblack. The theme to the show was art inspired by music. I had chosen #liecheatsteal from @runthejewels

My work didn’t sell at that show, however it most definately taught me so much in where my progress stands in my art journey.

Shortly after that @casperz89 And I got together and created @gingerd.crafts. we have since been in 3 shows together and I forsee it being a more involved new year.

When I see this now I realise I need to do more flash images. Practice smaller and less intense patterns, and start to work more on planning compositions in my work.

Early summer when we were stuck at home (the og part one, not this sucky sequel) I decided to try my hand at @gypsy999 #icad2020 challenge. To the best of my knowledge I was only able to make it to about 3 weeks in however it gives me the opportunity to try new mediums and subject matter. In the before times I was experimenting with flourescent paint and gel pens. It's nice to just play with colours and see how far different mediums can go. This was acrylic paint, watercolour pencil and gel pens on lined school notebook paper. The importance of selecting the correct medium. That is what I feel like I've learned this year. Make sure to have paper that doesnt warp when you put water colour on it, make sure to have paper that doesn't pill when you use certain inks. It's important to have consistency in ones pens as well. Certain inks dont photograph well. Others can be blotchy. I started with Deli 0.5 gel pens, (half the time the ink had dried up)slowly switching to gelly roll(when I erased the pencil lines underneith the ink would erase too.) Now I'm using Sharpie S-Gel which seem to address both issues decent enough.
