I’m currently writing a R&J fic taking place in the 1950s from Benvolio’s POV, and I realized that the Montacrew dynamic is just that one vine:

Mercutio: do you ever want to talk about your emotions, Benvolio?

Benvolio (lying through his teeth): Not really.

Romeo: I do.

Mercutio: I know, Romeo.

Romeo: I’m sad.

Mercutio: I know, Romeo.
