Into the Unknown - Chapter 3: Early Conflicts... or Lack Thereof

(A/N: I'm back after an unknown period of time to post another chapter of an au no one will read! Are u excited?? Still working on haikyuu oneshots btw)

Spoiler alert: nero is still a sweet boi, but he feels very conflicted about some things. Vergil is still kind of an asshole XD

Dante has money? was Vergil's only thought as he watched his brother interact with the cashier.

"Two- No..." Dante returned his brother's strange look. "Three tickets to Cael, if you don't mind."

He couldn't help but wonder who this Faith person was, and how much of an influence over Dante she must have had to make his irresponsible brother actually be motivated to have money in his possession.

"I can read you like a book," said brother huffed as he sat next to him. "You're thinking how I even have money, right? Says the guy who doesn't have a penny in his pocket."

Vergil sneered, "I'm not the one stuck in another timeline, am I?"

"I'm still pissed about that, believe me." He leaned on the bench, his eyes fixated on the train station clock. "So... Your world. Do I make good money? Or am I broke as shit?"

"We returned from the depths of hell only recently. Does that answer your question?"

"Why the hell would I wanna go to-" He stopped himself. "What do you mean we went to hell together? What shit stunt did you pull this time? Also, why am I sounding like the responsible one?" He ran a frustrated hand through his hair, tugging hard on the strands. Incredibly similar to how he used to as a child, Vergil found himself noticing. "I'm not even gonna get into that bullshit. More importantly... Is there a Faith in that world?"

Vergil's eye crinkled in confusion. Dante, despite his attempt at nonchalance, found himself wincing.

"She isn't, huh?"

"Who is she?" Vergil found himself asking. "What makes her so important to you?"

Dante glanced at him but said nothing. Good that he did, since the young lady decided now was the perfect time to return.

"I got some drinks and chips for the road. You get a peach soda," she passes a weird-looking bottle to Dante, "and you... uh, I didn't know what you liked, so I just got you a tea." She passed him a bottle, and when he didn't take it, set it down next to him.

"Thanks, Lady," his younger "brother" mumbled. "Just in time. The train's here."

[...]

"...I'll pay you back next time, kid."

"You said that last time, Dante," the young man, Nero, hissed. "I swear to God, your spending habits have gotten worse since you crawled your smelly ass out of hell!"

"My ass isn't smelly, it's rotund."

"What the hell does that even mean, you fuckin'-"

"Thank you for the food, Nero," Faith said, taking a bite of her taco. "It's very kind of you."

He flinched for a second, a bashful look on his face that made his cheeks red. "It's fine. Just eat up, okay? It looks like we have a few more hours 'til we get there."

"Oh, so the Vergil kidnapper gets free food, but I have you back- plus interest?!" Dante swings his fork around.

"She has an excuse, unlike you, asshole!"

A\N: yea this chapter focuses more on the Dante vs Vergil conflict- it didnt turn out how I thought it would- I thought it'd be more dramatic but I guess not. Next chapter's gonna focus more on the Nero and Faith dynamic...hopefully

“So, this is the art club!” You opened the door to your club’s classroom, it being full of paint buckets, easels, paintings and random paint blobs on walls. There was also a statue and, obviously, a basket of fruits on the front desk.

You lead Koushi to one of the easels that had your initials written on the top, a proud smile on your face. “And this is my easel!”

Once you turned to him with a small smile, he returned it with a grin of his own, looking around the classroom with a curious look in his eyes. Glad he returned your energy, your smile didn’t fade as you dug around your backpack, looking for your sketches.

“Um, so, I made these sketches without a person in mind beforehand, just a figure.” You said, pulling out three small sheets of paper. “So you’d know I wasn’t sketching you in my spare time or anything.”

“I mean, I wouldn’t mind.” He chuckled, trying to peer over your shoulder to look at the sketches. “I’m curious though, why’d you ask me to model for you? Was it really because I launched a volleyball in your face? I mean, if anything, Daichi has way more defining features-”

His rambling was interrupted by you quickly turning to him, you two merely inches apart caused by the fact he was trying to look over you a few moments ago. You hardly noticed the stuffy atmosphere though, hands moving to hold his face as if he himself was a delicate marble sculpture. To say he was surprised by your delicate hands suddenly being placed on his cheeks would be an understatement.

“You’re kidding right?” You peered right into his eyes unashamedly as you spoke. “I mean, sure, you don’t look like the typical portrayal of a Greek god, but your features- they’re- they’re so soft, it’s wonderful! And your little mole-” you moved your hand to brush your thumb over his mole, “-it’s in such a perfect spot! You look so cute, I’m jealous! So perfect for the setting I have in mind too…”

You trailed, and suddenly the warmth of your hands was gone from his face, seeing as you turned back to your sketches that you had discarded onto the chair in front of your personal easel.

“Your hair color is going to fit the color scheme so well…”

Koushi’s left hand moved to feel how warm his cheeks had gotten. He wondered if you noticed. Hell, he wondered if you even knew your words made him so extremely flustered, or if it was your artist-self emerging to admire his features. Even if it was the latter, that didn’t negate the fact you had been the one to make his face redden. His hearing was failing him, too, because he could barely make out your explanation of what you wanted to draw.

The only thing he was able to hear was; “…and you’re exactly who I need to be my angel.”

Into the Unknown - Chapter 1: The Speculum Mundi

(A/N: guess who got motivated for dmc for some odd reason? This bitch did. Also if u can't guess from the title, I rewatched frozen 2 and got inspiration to get started on an old au idea I had. It's finally heating up!)

This would take place some time after my story lost and found, and a bit before dmc 1

"...It's just a piece of glass," Dante shrugged, taking a big swig of his soda. "I don't see how important this thing is."

"It's not about what you think, dumbass," Lady grumbled as she gave his shoulder a shove. "Faith, what'd you say this thing was again?"

"The Speculum Mundi," the nephilim replied. "The Mirror of Worlds. It's said to be able to access all matters of God's creations, giving Him true omniscient power and visibility."

"...Which means...?"

"It's a huge mirror that can supposedly grant you access to multiple realities."

"Dude, nice," the half-demon cackled. "Even so, why's it so small? You think that puny thing can really fit a gajillion worlds in it? You think we can go in one? You think I'd still be as sexy?"

"With your attitude, you're more likely to be a perverted geezer!" Lady snapped at him. "Anyway, why are you paying so much attention to it? It's not like the angels can use it anymore... right?"

"That's the thing," Faith said. "If this mirror exists here, then it exists in all realities. And if it exists, then there are most certainly angels that are capable of using it. Whether it's in simply one world or a thousand, I don't know. But as the last angel, the task of protecting, maybe even destroying it, falls to me." She sighed, and Dante instinctively moved to rub her shoulders. "At the very least, this shard likely got broken off from the mirror. I should go put it back."

"Where do we do that?"

"Back in the mountain. Cael."

The atmosphere changed immediately at the mention of her hometown. Bitter memories of death and darkness flashed through all of their minds, the echo of a cacophonous chorus still ringing in their ears.

"We're not going back there."

"You don't have to," she reassured her friend. "I can go alone. Besides, the shard is pretty fickle, so it shouldn't be touched carelessly-"

As she spoke, the shard began to glow faintly, then an explosion of light engulfed the office.

Once it died down, it didn't take long for Dante to notice: "Hey, where the hell is Faith?"

"Who the hell is that?!" Lady shrieked, aiming her Kalina Ann at-

"Get away from me, you scum!"

[...]

...Ouch. Her head hurt like crazy. Faith could barely open her eyes, much less hear everything that was going around her. Plus, her back was aching like she fell onto the floor.

"...my brother? Answer me, you-"

...That voice sounded strangely familiar, but also incredibly different: deeper, almost huskier, laced with fear and rage.

Almost like...

"...Lady. Lady! Hey, can you hear me? Can you move?"

That was another voice: much softer and warmer, mixed with fear and concern. Something warm prodded her cheek, and she groaned. "Few more minutes...?"

"C'mon, lady, we don't really have much time for you to take a nap. My... uh... my 'dad' is missing, and we think you're the reason why."

...Dad?

She finally managed to blink the spots from her eyes and take in what's around her. She was still in the office, but it was significantly dirtier than she remembered. How the hell did Dante make a mess so quickly? There was also the smell of old pizza that she hadn't smelled in years; did he fall back on his previous lifestyle?

Not to mention the massive sword pointed straight at her throat.

"You," the silver-haired old man she did not recognize, "have a lot of explaining to do, young lady."
