Though this is manga related, that issue is something that involves all the fandoms. Until the original creator confirms something, it's okay to imagine them as whatever you want but later that, you don't get to say anything and get angry at the creator or people who enjoy the character that way.

It's not like people can't make headcanons about their favourite characters, and before anyone says it yes I know they are literally words and imaginary characters, but getting angry at the AUTHOR for writing their character like any normal person is not okay!

If a character was written as straight, you have to respect it.

If a character was written as LGBTQ+, you have to respect it.

If a character was written as belonging to a certain culture, you have to respect it.

Headcanons? Fine, amazing even! But don't go around shoving what you believe in everyone's throat with petty and pointless arguments and let everyone enjoy a fandom.

This 👆also includes anything in ordinary life as well.

P.S: Me, being so far away from anime fandoms, didn't know about this whole argument tho... Am I living under a rock or something?

Japan fan once again

Essentially what started this is people don’t under Japanese language I’m afraid.

We use pronouns differently here causing a translation barrier.

In conversation here if someone mentions a gender first the conversation is continued using “they” as it progresses referring to said gender just with a different word.

When megumi says his dream person referring to them as “they” he’s continuing the talk about girls just with a different wording.

“a person” is referring to him liking them (girls) as a person, not just as a female so he used that to make his point more clear.

When fans who don’t know the Japanese language saw this they jumped saying he was a sexuality he was not. Later gege did a q&a speaking of how megumi is shy around pretty girls and likes girls. This made American fans angry because they jumped and assumed something that wasn’t true.

When the subtitles came out they changed the word to “she” which made more Americans angry saying they “changed his sexuality” when it was always straight.

I’m a convention at one point it was hinted gege told them to change the subject to make it more clear megumi real sexuality.

Sad to say that many manga writers and manga fans here in Japan get really annoyed with American fans and how they constantly try to write in things and say they know better than the author.

1. Are you named after anyone?

Yep, actually my second name was given after a reformist who had been killed by the government mercilessly. I guess my parents wanted me to be independent and always able to voice what's right 🤔

2. When is the last time you cried?

Well, just this morning. I was watvhing that one video of a man who saved hundreds of children from the constraction camps and met with them before he died.

3. Do you have kids?

If raising some of my cousins at one point in their lives counts, yes. Other than that, no. Never. Not gonna happen. Not at all.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

My whole life is set on sarcasm? To only my parents and close friends though.

5. What's the first thing you notice about people?

Their energy(?) I can really tell if someone is good or not by just looking in their eyes, or at least be able to tell what they feel.

6. What's your eye color?

A very dark-ish brown that's close to black.

7. Scary movies or happy endings?

Scary movies, but they aren't fun anymore.

8. Any special talents?

Uh, it's gonna sound so weird but I can make different variants of animal noises? Mostly cats and turkeys, or oh! I think me having great memory and fast at learning new languages is a thing too!

9. Where were you born?

Turkiye!

10. What are your hobbies?

Reading, listening to music, laying down, sleeping, writing, searching... The list goes on.

11. Do you have any pets?

No 😖 I really want to adopt a kitten, but my parents have allergies and they don't like animals living in the same space as them. My cousin has one though, so I'm fine.

12. What sports do you play/ have played?

I really am not a sports-kinda gal, but there were times I played basketball. I don't hsve fond memories though, since i used to get hit with that shit a lot and it hurted like hell. Only those who had that feeling on their face could understand me...

13. How tall are you?

5'7"( 1.70 cm)

14. Favourite subject at school?

Anything except physics and maths...But my absolute faves are History, English, Geography!

15. Dream job?

Psychologist or Translator. I've always been invested in linguistics etc. and If I'm given the chance, I would really like to learn more! I'm gonna have college entrance exam in a few months, hopefully I will get my dream job!
