10 little things that make me happy

I was tagged by @call-my-master uhm.. in... 2018... I just went through my likes and found this, so:

1. Waking up early (like at... 8am or so) at weekends and not being sleepy anymore. 2. finding a new hobby 3. spending an evening that would be boring but turns out to be pretty much fun. 4. Travelling with beloved people. 5. But also travelling alone. 6. Watching the sunrise when I go to work. 7. Messaging a friend I didn’t talk to in a while. 8. Thunder. 9. Unexpectingly finding new songs that I like. 10. Having a good idea for a birthday gift without forcing it.

Dream Theater koncert a Sportarénában 2020 február 8.

Már lassan megszokhatjuk, hogy az Álomszínház rendre újra bemutatja évfordulós albumait egy-egy világ körüli portya keretében és ebből szerencsére minket, magyarokat sem hagynak ki (ezt a hagyományt tartják is, remélem!). Ezúttal a 20. szülinapját ünneplő Metropolis pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory album volt a soros, ami talán az utolsó közmegegyezéses Dream Theater lemeznek tekinthető – azóta nagyon is megosztja a közönséget, amit csinálnak. Bár az is igaz, hogy az azt megelőző korongot, a Falling Into Infinity-t is sokan köpdösték már a kicsit emészthetőbbre, populárisabbra vett hangvétel miatt. Elsősorban annak volt tulajdonítható az akkori elkanyarodás a közönségigény felé, hogy kiadói nyomás nehezedett rájuk; a multi mindenképp rádiós, MTV-s slágert akart kicsikarni belőlük (ezért vonták be a 80-as évek ügyeletes rock-slágergyárosát, Desmond Childot – holott már kezdettől fogva nem lelkesedtek az ötletért Mike Portnoyék, valamint a felkapott sztárproducer, Kevin Shirley alkalmazása is újabb lépést jelentett a mainstreamhez való felzárkózás felé), pedig tudhatták volna, hogy Petrucciék bandája sohasem a slágerekről szólt – még ha volt is egy Pull Me Underjük a korai időkben, ami még a progresszív rocktól idegenkedő rádiók repertoárjába is befért.

Éppen ezért tiszta lappal indultak és egy nagyívű konceptalbum megalkotását tűzték ki célul, olyan klasszikus darabok nyomán, mint a Pink Floyd féle The Wall, a Rush 2112-ja, a Queensryche szintén elnyűhetetlen Operation: Mindcrime-ja, a The Who-tól a Tommy, esetleg a Genesistől az ugyancsak halhatatlan The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. Elhatározták, hogy ez a hallgatnivaló nemcsak hogy helyreállítja majd a Falling…-gal kissé megtépázott hírnevüket, hanem akár végérvényesen a progresszív muzsika legnagyobbjai közé katapultálhatja őket. Ez be is jött végül.

A Scenes-szel anno eljutottak a PeCsába is, most pedig elérkezett az idő, hogy újra átéljük annak a bulinak a feelingjét. Nekem is az egyik kedvenc DT albumom a SFAM, úgyhogy várós volt az egész – jóllehet némi aggodalomra adhatott okot, hogy három tag is összeszedett valami betegséget (különösen John Petruccin látszottak az enerváltság jelei).

Ahogy azt már a Dreamnél megszokhattuk, a koncert két felvonásos volt. Az első etap javarészt az aktuális fülbevaló,a Distance Over Time népszerűsítéséről szólt: az Untethered Angel, Barstool Warrior, Paralyzed és a Pale Blue Dot el is hangzott róla. Megkockáztatom, hosszú idő óta ez az első DT korong, amiért igazán lelkesedni tudok (az utolsó, ami igazán beütött, az a Train Of Thought volt). A Systematic Chaosról is előkerült egy szem nóta az In The Presence Of Enemies első részének képében, bár én személy szerint jobban örültem volna arról a lemezről a Dark Eternal Nightnak. No de mindenkinek képtelenség a kedvére tenni.

Ahhoz képest,hogy hárman is lebetegedtek a zenekarból, a megszokott profizmussal, alázattal tették oda magukat a színpadon, bár állapotukból adódóan visszafogottabban, mint egyébként. A hangzástól kezdetben nem szállt el a fejünk; túl tompának hatott abban a bazi nagy hodályban, de tény és való, hogy egy Dreamet megfelelően hangosítani külön történet, hogy minden klappoljon, kell hozzá szakértő fül (a FEZEN-en ugyanakkor, ami fesztiválos fellépés volt, kifogástalanul szóltak).

A legaktívabbnak a deszkákon kétségtelenül az énekes James LaBrie tűnt. Rajta érzésem szerint nem fogott ki a nyavalya, mivel igen lelkesen belakta a színpad valamennyi szegletét (még olykor az emelvényekre is felment). Továbbá áradozott arról, mennyire szeretnek Budapestre járni, mindig elbűvöli őket a város, stb-stb. Petrucci mellett még a másik Johnba, a távol-keleties arcvonásokkal megáldott Myungba is csak nehezen költözött élet, jobbára magába fordulva pengette basszusgityóját. Mike Mangini dobimpróját kicsit feleslegesnek éreztem – mikor túlságosan meg akarta mutatni, hogy felér Portnoy-hoz, azt inkább nem kellett volna erőltetni. Ezt leszámítva nem lehetett panasz a játékára; ledobol tkp. bármit, amit előtte a druszájával lemezre vett a csapat. A külsőre leginkább egy szerethető dokira emlékeztető Jordan Rudess (aki pont a Scenes idején lett teljes jogú tagja az Álomszínház társulatának, pedig hol a körbe-körbe forgó billentyűskomplexumán varázsolgatott, hol pedig a mögül előlépve 80-as évekbeli gitárszintivel a nyakában pózolt. A Pale Blue Dotot követően egy kb. negyedórás szünet következett, mindenki elintézhette ezalatt a kaja-pia vételezést a büfében, meg az esetleges illemhely látogatást.

Nem volt kérdéses, hogy leginkább a második felvonást vártam, hiszen ebben került terítékre a teljes Metropolis 2. Epekedve vártam tehát, mi sül ki ebből a lemezújrajátszó megmozdulásból; még az is benne volt a levegőben, hogy egyik-másik meghatóbb tételt meg fogom könnyezni (ez főleg a vége felé jellemző a sztorinak). A lassacskán kibontakozó kezdésből a dallamos, középtájt egy Led Zeppelines csavarral megbolondított Strange Deja Vu-t, s a Queenes ízeket hordozó Fatal Tragedy-t is élmény volt újra hallani élőben, de a legnagyobbat az azt követő Beyond This Life ütötte számomra; ez az egyik valaha született legsúlyosabb DT szám a maga thrashes jellegével. Emlékeztet a relatíve brutálisabbra vett Awake albumra. A nagy zúzdát követően megpihenhettünk kicsit, mivel egy ballada jött a női vokállal megspékelt Through Her Eyes képében. A kivetítőn ezalatt roppant szimpatikus módon megemlékeztek több nagyszerű zenészlegendáról is, akik már sajnos nem lehetnek köztünk, köztük Frank Zappáról, Ronnie James Dio-ról, Chris Cornellről (Soundgarden, Audioslave), a Panterás Abbott tesókról, ill. Neil Peartről (Rush).

Épp aznap ünnepelte szülinapját a turnémenedzser, így újabb szimpi húzásként az együttes színpadra invitálta egy Happy Birthday erejéig. Még egy kis rögtönzés is belefért a Viper King boogie-s, kicsit Steve Vai-os alapriffjével (milyen kár, hogy csupán kis szösszenetet hallhattunk belőle!). Az Amorphis rokon, keleties fűszerrel megszórt Home már igazi feszültséggel terhes tétel, zaklatott hangvételét a végletekig fokozzák. A Dance Of Eternity pedig jammelős-szólisztikusabb opus, amelyben még a banda jazzes, ragtime-os hatásai is tetten érhetőek.

A fináléhoz közeledvén a legszívbemarkolóbb pillanatok kapták a főszerepet. A One Last Time a balladisztikusabb dalok sorát gyarapította, ez a szám mondjuk nem akkora kedvencem, de elviselem. A Spirit Carries On-nál jött el az a pillanat, amikor azon voltam, hogy ott helyben elbőgöm magam…annyira meg tud mindig érinteni az a tétel! Legalább annyira képes meghatni, amennyire a Pink Floyd Dark Side of The Moon albumának Eclipse/Brain Damage párosa, ami tökéletes lezárása volt egy tökéletes albumnak. Vagyis utána már nehezen viselnék el mást. Ám a Dream Theater esetében még hátravolt egy tétel, ez volt a Finally Free, s minő csoda – még ezzel is tudták fokozni az érzelmeket!

A ráadásra nem mondom, választhattak volna erősebb nótát is az új album At Wit’s Endjénél (mondjuk a már említett Viper Kinget), de egye fene, még ezt is elnézem nekik. Lemezújrabemutató buli végett ez nyilván nem is lehetett egy best of Dream Theater program, ámde a hangulat kárpótlást jelentett a kihagyott közönségkedvenc számokért. Nem voltunk egetverően sokan sem, a telt háztól messze állt a koncert látogatottsága, viszont a DT még mindig be tud azért annyi érdeklődőt vonzani, hogy ne maradjunk szégyenben.

Messze van még ugyan, de 2022-ben remélhetőleg ismét Magyarországon köszönthetjük majd őket, akkor fogja ugyanis 20 éves jubileumát ünnepelni Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence című dupla albumuk. Nyilván bolondok lennének, ha nem szerveznének ennek az anyagnak is újrajátszó turnét.

a saturday which means today is another new episode of haikyuu!! season 4! i watched it this morning of course and wow i'll never get tired of praising the new animation. it looks exactly like it does in the manga and i'm so happy! man, this ball boy arc is breaking my heart again. :( i already read the arc like 3 years ago and it still hurts me a Lot. but everything will be okay soon for my sunshine baby and i'm honestly excited to hear miya atsumu (DAZAI!) and hoshiumi korai's (TANJIROU!) voices already!

and i greeted my close guy friend happy birthday at 8am and then he replied like a few hours later that it wasn't his birthday yet lol and i joked and said it's better to be advance in greeting him, lol.

and i also finally finished watching Parasite! he (my close guy friend) sent me a link to watch it and we watched it together (not in the literal sense lol he lives far away; we watched it at the same time) and yeah i was on the edge of my seat the whole time! (though i only finished it on saturday and he sent me the link on friday aha) everything was phenomenal. it definitely deserves all the awards and recognition it has!
