Tomorrow I turn 21 and I feel like I should be excited! I really should! But it's the 3rd year in a row that I will be spending my birthday alone in some crappy dorm room. It's the Thanksgiving weekend so by now I know what to expect but I'm sad Bex. I'm sad that I'm spending another birthday alone... I guess I'm just looking for anyone who maybe relates or any ideas on how to make my 21st not so sad and lonely.

Hey there Anon. I am so fucking sorry that this is the case for you. I do relate because I am a person who loooves their birthday and has a long history of having shitty fucking birthdays. My past few ones have been good but that has been on me doing my best to make them good. I ensure I get a cake I like, I make sure I have good dinner, I plan a party for myself.

It's become a tradition in my personal discord server The Boiler Lounge for us to do a movie night for my birthday, this year we watched Nerdy Prudes Must Die, Face Off and Velocopastor, it was super fun!

Do you have any friends you can call? Anyone you can talk to or see if someone can even just watch something with you, or is there any self care stuff you can do for yourself? Buying even a slice of cake or treating yourself to some good food, or somewhere you can go out? Why sit around inside if you can go out and do something for yourself, even if it is taking a walk to take yourself out to eat.

Be kind to yourself at least if you don't have anyone else around.

life has… certainly been. i turned 20 about three weeks ago, got a super awesome tattoo…..and within a week of that, got covid and also got rejected from my dream job.

life has definitely Been.
