Momo Girlfriend Headcanons!
Tumblr media
Watching dramas with her when she can’t sleep and her ending up dozing off on top of you until you carry her to bed
Her being more anxious for you to meet her dogs than the other members (they all end up loving you as their stepparent)
Holding her hand on plane rides when she gets nervous
She’s so clingy sometimes, always clutching your arm or hanging on your shoulder, but you don’t mind ❤️
Jeongyeon being happy that someone else can finally blow dry Momo’s hair before she goes to bed
Also pestering her to wash her hair since she loves to procrastinate
Lots of naps with cuddling :)
Momo is our “eating queen,” so practically one third of your entire relationship is spent eating!
Jokbal, army stew, ramen, kimbap, waffles, ice cream… pretty much everything except cucumbers, melon, and salmon
Speaking of which, when you go out to eat you make extra clear to the waiter not to serve Momo salmon. If it looks weird, you’ll taste it for her to make sure (unless of course you’re also allergic LOL)
You buy her every little pink thing you can find, as it’s her favorite color. Candy, drinks, scrunchies, keychains, pastries, lip gloss, plushies… they’ve all been given to her at some point.
Throwing her a barbie themed birthday party (and being the girls’ photographer as they all show up dressed like dolls)
Buying her psyduck plushies
Momo is a scorpio, so don’t be surprised if she gets a little possessive at times. It’s not that serious, and it’s only because she’s so scared of losing you.
Like if someone is trying to get close to you and she can’t tell what their intentions are, she’ll get a little upset :(
Most of the time she’s able to talk herself out of it but sometimes she needs a little reassurance, she’s only human after all!
If a stranger ever starts flirting with you she’ll literally just walk right up to you, pull you away from them, and kiss you on the lips passionately
She likes feeling like you belong to her and she belongs to you, and no one could ever get in the way
I also think she’s a hopeless romantic and likes to impress you in all the traditional ways: hand written notes, chocolate, flowers, fancy dinners… she can’t be the only one getting spoiled after all 😉
Her teaching you Japanese so you can impress her family next time you visit
Speaking of which if you’ve never been, she would ADORE showing you all the sights in Japan!
After a while you get very close with Hana and think of her as your own sister, Momo even gets jealous of how close you are sometimes 💀
She calls you “honey bee” 🐝
You call her “love-bug” 🐞
Pestering her to drink water every day after Tzuyu tells you she doesn’t like drinking it (keep your girl hydrated please!)
Never being able to resist her cuteness when she wants something, anything
Her showing off her nails to you every time she gets them done 💅
Going on shopping sprees together and being shopaholics (Hey, it’s called retail therapy for a reason!)
She wants to travel the whole world with you, so she takes you on lots of vacations
Loves taking walks with you through the park at night, just talking about future plans while looking up at the stars

baby smc au - the extended family
- the babies call the Unnies’ parents their grandparents (or rather, the unnies’ parents call the babies their grandkids)
- so they have five(ish) sets of grandparents
- (ish) because the Myois eventually come around but not before theres a pretty gigantic fight when they find out Mina’s been lying about her involvement
- anyway 5 grandparents means a LOT of birthday presents
- and holiday presents
- and ‘just because i was thinking of my grandkids’ presents
- sana’s dad memorizes corny jokes in Korean and tells them to the babies whenever he sees them. the minatozakis are all learning more Korean bc thats what the babies speak. they are enamored with these kids
- the babies are probably most familiar with the Yoos though because they live close, and between jeongyeons parents and two sisters there’s usually someone to babysit them if needed
- the Parks also live close but Jihyo’s siblings are significantly younger so its not always convenient for them to babysit three hyper toddlers. Jihyo does bring them over there often, though, and her mother is always so happy to see them & has lil cookies or treats prepared
- once Mr. and Mrs. Myoi give them a chance, they love them of course. Theyre never “grandma and grandpa” though they’re always “mr. and mrs. myoi”. very formal family.
- regardless the myois s p o i l them once they get past everything
- the incredibly wealthy grandparents who are a little out of touch but buy them new electronics
- the babies refer to the unnies’ siblings as their aunts and uncles too
- In addition to Jeongyeons sisters they also see Momo’s sister a lot. and they love her, she always brings little treats from japan, and she makes it a point to get out to visit at least a few times a year.
- Momo’s sister is an artist & actually buys Chaeyoung her first real oil paint set. like a professional one.
- the Yoo sisters absolutely love babysitting and the babies love when either of the Yoo sisters babysits.
- they compete for the ‘fun aunt’/‘favorite aunt’ title
- chaeyoung once told them momo’s sister was her favorite aunt anyway oof (chaeyoung was like a toddler & it was solely because Hana brought finger paints)
- the Unnies themselves also have wonderful relationships with each other’s parents, too
- i mean the unnies dont love all the pressure that gets put on Mina from her parents so theyre not always thrilled with them
- but they really wind up with pretty good ‘in-law’ relationships with everyone
- Mrs Yoo and Mrs Park become like a mom-away-from-home for all the Unnies too
- one big incredibly loving happy family

Katsuki Bakugou~Birthday Surprise
Word count: 2295
Description: Katsuki's birthday is finally here but he's worried for his wife and wishes that she would simply rest instead of worrying about him all day. His stubborn wife doesn't listen through and decides to throw him a party anyway.
Tumblr media
"Please don't do anything over the top this year." Katsuki whined to his wife. The (h/c) colored hair female simply laughed as she turned over in bed and looked to him. "You say that every year." she whined back to him. "Yeah and you know why?" he asked. "Why?" she asked him. "Because I'm hoping one year you'll finally listen." he said back to her. (Y/n) chuckled a bit hearing as he said this. "Have I ever been one to listen to you, Kat?" she asked him.
He sighed and shook his head no. "Babe, just hear me out though." he said to her as he sat up from their bed. She looked to him and sighed. "I'm listening." she said to him. "I'm turning 27. There's no reason to go out and do something big for it." he said to her. "It's not some major milestone or anything. Plus I don't need you going into labor trying to throw me some party." he said to her. (Y/n) simply chuckled and sat up from the bed. Her baby bump showing a bit more as she sat up. "I'll be fine." she said to him. "Plus you deserve to have a special day." she said to him. Katsuki sighed and fall back onto the bed. "It comes in one ear and leaves the other." he mumbled to himself.
(Y/n) simply laughed hearing as he said this. Then there was a knock at their bedroom door. "Can we come in?" asked a really soft voice. "No. Go away." Katsuki said back as he pulled the blanket over top of him. "KATSUKI! Be nice to the kids." (Y/n) said to him. (Y/n) then got up from the bed and made her way over to the bedroom door. She opened the door to see the most adorable set of 5 year old twins with blonde fluffy hair and (e/c) colored eyes. "Thanks Mommy." both of them said before running into the room. She turned and watched as her son and daughter climbed their way onto the bed before jumping onto their father. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY!" they both yelled out. Katsuki groaned at the impact but was quick to catch them both so they wouldn't fall off the bed. "Thank you, brats." he said as he held them.
They both laughed a bit and looked to their Dad. "So what are you going to do today?" Hana asked looking down to her father. "Staying in bed all day." he said to his kids. "Really?" they both asked him. "No. He's not." (Y/n) said to them. "Then why did Daddy say that?" Haruto asked looking from his Mom to his Dad. "Because maybe if I spend all day in bed then Mommy will take the clue to rest." Katsuki said as he glared over to his wife. She sighed and looked back to him. "I'm pregnant, Katsuki. Doesn't mean I can't do something nice for you." she said to him. "First off, you're seven months pregnant. Second, you're right. Being pregnant doesn't mean you can't do something nice for me. So please be nice and rest in bed so I don't have to worry about you today." Katsuki plead to his wife. (Y/n) sighed and shook her head. "Come on kids. Go get ready. Mommy needs to do some shopping and you guys are coming along." she said to them. "Yay!" Hana and Haruto shouted as they hoped off the bed.
Once they were out of the room Katsuki sat up from the bed. "I'll get dressed as well." he said with a sighed. (Y/n) stopped her husband. "Nope. You're going to stay here and rest." she said to him. He growled hearing as she said this. "Look here woman." he started to say to her before she cut him off. "No, you look here Katsuki! I'm your wife and I know what's best for you. And I'm letting you know now if you keep bossing me around all day and don't just enjoy your birthday, you're going to have a moody wife." she said to him. He groaned hearing as she said this. "Look Katsuki, I get it. You're a pro-hero. It's your job to protect but for once don't be Ground Zero and be my Katsuki." she said to him. Katsuki sighed and looked to her. "Fine. Fine but can you at least take someone with you?" he asked him. "Who?" she asked. "Just one of my friends." he answered back. "I guess so." she said back before kissing his cheek and getting off the bed to get ready.
~Time Skip~
(Y/n) sighed a bit as she walked back into her house from shopping. Soon followed her Hana, Haruto, Izuku, Shoto, and Kirishima. All of them having bags in their hands. All of them expect (Y/n). After they all came into the house (Y/n) closed the door and started to take off her coat. As she did this she heard rushed foot steps coming down the stairs. She looked up and glared to her husband. "You lied to me." she said to him. "About what?" he asked in shock. "About 'one' of your friends coming along." she said to him as she crossed her arms over her chest. "I did not." he said back. "Oh really?" she asked him.
She then pointed to kitchen to the three males that were helping her kids with some bags. "Kirishima's my friend the other two are just extras." he said to his wife. She growled and pointed to him. "Yeah, well the 'one' friend and two extras didn't let me do that much. Izuku barley let me walk without asking me if I was tired. Kirishima had to grab everything off the shelf for me and Shoto wouldn't even let me carry my purse!" (Y/n) said to him. Katsuki laughed a bit hearing as she said this but once he saw his wife's face he regretted that he laughed. "Go back, upstairs. I don't want to see your face again until I call you down." she said to him. "Okay. Jeez." he mumbled before walking back up the stairs. (Y/n) then turned around and headed into the kitchen.
They all got to work on un-packing the bags and putting all the food up. After they were down with the bags Kirishima started to call some of Katsuki's friends, while Izuku and Shoto worked on the decorations for the party, as (Y/n) was busy baking a cake with the kids. It was all going nice until (Y/n) felt a sharp pain in her side. She grabbed at it and rubbed the area a bit. She then looked up and was glad to see no one saw it. She then shook it off thinking it was a simple cramp. She got back to making the cake with the kids. It took a while until everything was set up and all the guest were showing up. Once everything was in place (Y/n) hurried over to the stairs. "KATSUKI BAKUGOU! YOU CAN COME DOWN!" she yelled to him. "FINALLY!" he yelled back to her. It didn't take long for him to hurry down the stairs.
Once he was down the stairs he was shocked to see the living room set up with all his friends. "Wow. Babe, you really out did yourself." he said to her. She chuckled a bit and looked to him. "No, I didn't. I just threw the best party for the best husband." she said poking him in his side. He laughed and hugged her. "I love you." he whispered just for her to hear. She laughed and hugged him back. "I love you too, Kat. Now go party." she said letting go of him. It didn't take long for everyone to start chatting and dance to music. Everyone was having fun, just being able to catching up. (Y/n) was talking to Momo when she felt a sharp pain again within her side. She winced a bit in pain and rubbed the spot again. She quickly excused herself from Momo and made her way through the crowd.
She then soon found her angry blonde of a husband. He was chatting and laughing along with Kirishima, Sero, Denki, and Mina. (Y/n) faked a smile and walked up to her husband. "Kat, I need to talk to you." she said to him. He looked to his wife and smile. "Actually I was just about to come looking for you. I want to thank you for the party." he said to her. "That's great but babe -" he cut her off. "No, just let me real quick. It really means a lot to me to be with someone like you. I truly don't deserve you and I love you." he said to her. (Y/n) whimpered a bit as she rubbed her side once again. Katsuki looked at his wife in confusion. "Are you okay?" he asked her. "No. Katsuki you were right." she said to him. "I was right? Right about what?" he asked. "You were right about me just r-" she started to say before there was splashing sound. Katsuki looked down in confusion before he looked to his wife. It took him a second to realize what this meant but when he did it hit him like a bus. "HOLY SHIT!" he yelled as he hurried to (Y/n)'s side. "Don't worry babe. I'll get you to the hospital." he said to her. Everyone had stopped talking and looked to the scene. "OKAY. LISTEN UP EXTRAS. (Y/N) IS GOING INTO LABOR AND I'M TAKING HER TO THE HOSPITAL. DEKU! ICY-HOT! YOU TWO ARE IN CHARGE INTO I GET BACK. WATCH HANA AND HARUTO!" Katsuki yelled to them. "Okay, Kacchan." Izuku said back. Katsuki then looked to Kirishima. "Shitty hair you're with me." Katsuki said to Kirishima.
Kirishima nodded his head hearing as his friend said this. "Upstairs in the closet there's a bag. Go grab it real quick and meet us at my car." Katsuki said to him. Kirishima nodded his head and hurried off. Katsuki then held onto his wife and started to walk with her to the front door. "Kat, I'm so sorry." she said as she winced in pain again. "Hey, don't worry about it right now. All I want you to worry on is getting to the hospital and having a baby. Okay?" he asked her. She nodded her head in agreement.
~Time Skip~
It was a painful three hours for the couple. Katsuki was by (Y/n)'s the whole time. Holding her hand and talking to her the whole time. After the whole process was done (Y/n) and Katsuki was left with a beautiful baby girl. (Y/n) smiled looking at the small child as her husband held him. "She is so cute!" (Y/n) said looking over the small child. She had a little fluff of (h/c) colored hair along with red eyes. Katsuki chuckled a bit and looked at (Y/n). "She's a mini you." he said laughing a bit. "She has your eyes." she mumbled back. He laughed and nodded his head. "Here. Do you want her back?" he asked. (Y/n) nodded her head as she held out her arms for the baby. Katsuki softly placed her into his wife's arms. The couple smiled as they looked to the baby girl.
The moment was soon broken with a knock at the door of the hospital room. Katsuki groaned and got up. "Who's that?" (Y/n) asked as she looked to him. "Deku and Shoto. I told them to stop by with the kids." Katsuki said to her. She nodded her head and looked to the door. Katsuki opened the door to see his friend holding his kids along with Izuku and Shoto. "Daddy!" Hana yelled. Katsuki chuckled a bit and took Hana from Kirishima's arm. Then everyone walked into the room. "Mommy!" Haruto yelled seeing his Mom. She chuckled looking to her son. "Guys come meet your new baby sister." Katsuki said to his kids. Katsuki walked over to the bed as (Y/n) scooted over. Katsuki sat down in the free space and placed his daughter in his lap. Kirishima then pulled up a chair to the bed and placed Haruto into his lap. Both of the kids looked to the bundle their Mom was holding.
As they were looking the baby opened her eyes. Showing off her bright red eyes. "Wow. She has Daddy's eyes." Hana said. Katsuki chuckled hearing this. "Yeah but she looks more like Mommy." Haruto said to his sister. Kirishima and (Y/n) laughed at his comment. (Y/n) then looked up to Izuku and Shoto. "You guys can come look as well." she said to them. Izuku lit up hearing this and hurried over to see the new baby girl. Shoto followed close behind. "Aw! Aren't you just the cutest little thing?" Izuku asked looking at her. The baby laughed a bit as she looked to the male. Katsuki smiled and placed his friend above the baby's head and watched as she reached for it. Soon grabbing onto it and holding onto it tightly. "What's her name?" Shoto asked looking at the baby. "Sakura." both parents answered looking at her.
"Aw. Hi, Sakura. It's so nice to meet you." Izuku said to the baby. Katsuki then looked to his wife a bit in confusion. "What time is it?" he asked her. She shrugged a bit. "It's 11:48pm." Kirishima said as he pulled out his phone to check . "Why?" Kirishima asked looking to his friend. "Me and Sakura share the same birthday now." Katsuki said smiling. (Y/n)'s eyes widen in shock hearing as he said this. She went to say sorry to him before he smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Best birthday gift within a million years."

Connections in PreCure Civilian Names (Updated)
If you don’t see a Cure, I found no relevant connection.
Sometimes I looked to Google Translate for help.
These are only connections I’ve noticed on my own. Please let me know which connections I’ve missed!
Honoka Yukishiro (Cure White) - “Yukishiro” means “snow white.”
Hikari Kujo (Shiny Luminous) - “Hikari” is just the literal word for “light,” alluding to her role in the series.
Saki Hyuuga (Cure Bloom/Bright) - “Saki” means “bloom” or “blooming.” “Hyuuga” can mean “facing the sun’s direction”; if you’re wondering what relevance that has, look what type of flower appears in Bloom’s transformation.
Mai Mishou (Cure Egret/Windy) - “shou” can mean “fly,” referring to the egret bird.
Nozomi Yumehara/Cure Dream - “Nozomi” can mean either “hope” or “wish,” as she introduces herself as the Cure of hope (I think). “Yume” means “dream.”
Rin Natsuki/Cure Rouge - “Natsu” means “summer,” referencing her fire powers.
Komachi Akimoto/Cure Mint - “Aki” means “fall,” which could refer to the leaves behind her transformation. But, like, that’s the best I can do with that.
Karen Minazuki/Cure Aqua - It’s not exact, but her last name contains “Mi__zu__” which means “water.”
Love Momozono/Cure Peach - “Momo” can mean either “peach,” or a word for “pink.” “Love” obviously refers to her heart theme.
Miki Aono/Cure Berry - “Aono” means “of blue.” “Miki” is used for a lot of blue magical girls (Sayaka, Mew Mint’s pet dog, the Amulet Spade Chara), though it means “beautiful tree.”
Inori Yamabuki/Cure Pine - “Inori” means “prayer,” referring to her transformation phrase and attacks, where you can hear her use the word.
Setsuna Higashi/Cure Passion - “Higashi” means “East,” referring to her previous role as Eas. “Setsuna” can mean “precious” or “beloved,” possibly referring to her newfound friendships.
Tsubomi Hanasaki/Cure Blossom - “Tsubomi” means “bud,” as in flower bud, and “Hanasaki” means “blooming flower or blossom.”
Yuri Tsukikage/Cure Moonlight - “Yuri” means “lily,” her personal flower, and “Tsukikage” literally translates to “moon shadow,” oddly enough.
Hibiki Hojo/Cure Melody - “Hibiki” means “resound” or “sound” (though “sound” is usually translated as “oto.”) This also goes for Hibiki Tachibana, of course.
Kanade Minamino/Cure Rhythm - “Kanade” means “beautiful sound” or “playing music.” This also goes for Kanade Amou.
Eren Kurokawa/Cure Beat - “Kuro” means “black,” possibly alluding to the fact that Eren used to be a black cat.
Ako Shirabe/Cure Muse - “Shirabe” means “note” or “tune.” This also goes for Shirabe Tsukuyomi.
Miyuki Hoshizora/Cure Happy - “Hoshizora” means “starry sky.” This isn’t a direct reference to her, but a starry sky can be considered a setting for fairy tale.
Akane Hino/Cure Sunny - “Aka” means “red,” which might be a reason why some people list her as a red cure when she is clearly orange. “Hino” means “of fire.” This also goes for Rei Hino.
Yayoi Kise/Cure Peace - “Ki” can mean “yellow,” though I know the translation better as “Kiiro.”
Nao Midorikawa/Cure March - “Midori” means “green.” This also goes for Izuku Midoriya (happy birthday to him, btw).
Reika Aoki/Cure Beauty - “Reika” means “below zero,” according to Google Translate, referring to her ice powers, though the name has multiple meanings; another is “beautiful.” “Ao” means “blue.”
Mana Aida/Cure Heart - “Ai” means “love.”
Rikka Hishikawa/Cure Diamond - “Rikka” also has several meanings, though one is “snow” or “snowflake,” referring to her ice powers.
Makoto Kenzaki/Cure Sword - “Ken” means either “blade” or “sword.”
Megumi Aino/Cure Lovely - “Megumi” can mean “love” or “affection.” “Aino” means “of love.” This also goes for Minako Aino.
Hime Shirayuki/Cure Princess - “Hime” means “princess.” “Shirayuki” means “white snow,” probably alluding to the famous princess.
Yuko Omori/Cure Honey - “mori” means “forest,” maybe referring to her clover theme.
Haruka Haruno/Cure Flora - “Haruno” means “of spring,” referring to the season her element is associated with. The same goes for her first name.
Minami Kaido/Cure Mermaid - “Kaido” doesn’t seem to mean anything relevant, but it’s similar to “Kaioh,” Sailor Neptune’s last name. “Minami” means south,” though I don’t know if that’s supposed to mean something.
Kirara Amanogawa/Cure Twinkle - From first to last name, it translates literally as “twinkling Milky Way.”
Towa Akagi/Cure Scarlet - “Aka” means “red.”
Mirai Asahina/Cure Miracle - “Mirai” means “future.” I didn’t actually watch all of Mahoutsukai, so I don’t know if that’s relevant.
Kotoha Hanami/Ha/Cure Felice - “Ha” means “leaf,” which is in, like, all of her names. “Hanami” means “flower viewing,” an actual pastime in Japan where people picnic near the newly-bloomed sakura trees.
Ichika Usami/Cure Whip - It’s not exact, but “Usagi means “rabbit,” referring to her animal theme. Thus is where Sailor Moon’s first name comes from.
Himari Arisugawa/Cure Custard - “Hi” can mean “sun,” which is sometimes portrayed as yellow.
Aoi Tategami/Cure Gelato - From first to last name, it translates literally as “blue mane.”
Akira Kenjou/Cure Chocolat - “Akira” contains “ak__a,” which means “red.”
Ciel Kirahoshi/Cure Parfait - “Ciel” is French for “sky.” “Kirahoshi” means “twinkling stars,” which could refer to the ethereal nature of her animal theme, as does Ciel.
Hana Nono/Cure Yell - “Hana” means “flower,” referring to one of her attack themes and part of her outfit.
Saaya Yakushiji/Cure Ange - This one might be a stretch. Yakushi-ji is a Buddhist temple in Japan; its main attraction is “The Medicine Buddha,” which could reference her introducing herself as “Healing everyone!”
Homare Kagayaki/Cure Etoile - “Homare” means “honor,” which could refer to her character arc of self-acceptance. “Kagayaki” means “shining,” referring to her golden-like theme.
Ruru Amour/Cure Amour - “Ruru” is a reference to R.U.R., a 1920s play that brought the word “robot” into modern usage, referring to her true nature. So it’s not Lulu. “Amour” is French for “love,” referring to her and Macherie’s theme.
Emiru Aisaki/Cure Macherie - “Aisaki” means “blooming love.”
Hikaru Hoshina/Cure Star - “Hikaru” means “bright,” “shimmer” or “gleam.” “Hoshi” means “star.”
Lala Hagoromo/Cure Milky - “Hagoromo” refers to a few things, but the anime makes it clear what the fake name specifially refers to. I forget which one, but I think it’s either for a space orbiter or an old Japanese play about a swan maiden.
Elena Amamiya/Cure Soleil - “Elena” is a multilingual name that means “bright” or “shining light,” referring to her sun theme.
Madoka Kaguya/Cure Selene - “Kaguya” refers to a Japanese story involving a princess of the moon.
Yuni/Cure Cosmo - “Yuni” is supposed to refer to how Japan pronounces the word “universe,” in reference to the outer space themes.
Nodoka Hanadera/Cure Grace - “Hana” means “flower.”
Chiyu Sawaizumi/Cure Fontaine - “Chiyu” can mean “healing” or “cure,” though since she’s not the main cure I don’t know why she gets to be named after the season’s main theme. “Sawaizumi” can mean “marsh/stream fountain.”
Hinata Hiramitsu/Cure Sparkle - “Hi” means “sun,” which refers to her bright powers. “Hinata” means “sunny place.” Although not exact, “Hiromitsu” means “wide light.” Interestingly, “mitsu” is a word for “three,” which could reference her being the third Cure in her team.
Asumi Fuurin/Cure Earth - “Asu” is just how the Japanese pronounce the English word “earth.” So Cure Earth’s civilian name is literally the same. “Fuu” means “wind,” referring to her actual element. The same goes for Fuu Hououji.
8/3/20 EDIT: MY ASS COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT SPLASH STAR, IM SO SORRY.

Nationwide festivals in Japan
New Year (正月, Shōgatsu
Date: January 1–3 (related celebrations take place throughout January)
Other Names: Oshōgatsu (O is an honorific prefix)
Information: New Year observances are the most elaborate of Japan's annual events. Before the New Year, homes are cleaned, debts are paid off, and osechi (food in lacquered trays for the New Year) is prepared or bought. Osechi foods are traditional foods which are chosen for their lucky colors, shapes, or lucky-sounding names in hopes of obtaining good luck in various areas of life during the new year. Homes are decorated and the holidays are celebrated by family gatherings, visits to temples or shrines, and formal calls on relatives and friends. The first day of the year (ganjitsu) is usually spent with members of the family.
People try to stay awake and eat toshikoshisoba, noodles to be eaten at midnight. People also visit Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. Traditionally three are visited. This is called sansha-mairi. In the Imperial Palace at dawn on the 1st, the Emperor performs the rite of shihōhai (worship of the four-quarters), in which he offers prayers for the well-being of the nation. On January 2 the public is allowed to enter the inner palace grounds; the only other day this is possible is the Emperor's birthday (February 23). On the 2nd and 3rd days acquaintances visit one another to extend greetings (nenshi) and sip otoso (a spiced rice wine). Some games played at New Year's are karuta (a card game), hanetsuki (similar to badminton), tako age (kiteflying), and komamawashi (spinning tops). These games are played to bring more luck for the year. Exchanging New Year's greeting cards (similar to Christmas Cards) is another important Japanese custom. Also special allowances are given to children, which are called otoshidama. They also decorate their entrances with kagami mochi (two mochi rice balls placed one on top of the other, with a tangerine on top), and kadomatsu (pine tree decorations).
A later New Year's celebration, Koshōgatsu, literally means "Small New Year" and starts with the first full moon of the year (around January 15). The main events of Koshōgatsu are rites and practices praying for a bountiful harvest.
Doll Festival (雛祭り, Hina-matsuri
Date: March 3
Other Names: Sangatsu Sekku (3rd month Festival), Momo Sekku (Peach Festival), Joshi no Sekku (Girls' Festival)
Information: This is the day when families pray for the happiness and prosperity of their girls and to help ensure that they grow up healthy and beautiful. The celebration takes place both inside the home and at the seashore. Both parts are meant to ward off evil spirits from girls. Young girls put on their best kimonos and visit their friends' homes. Tiered platforms for hina ningyō (hina dolls; a set of dolls representing the emperor, empress, attendants, and musicians in ancient court dress) are set up in the home, and the family celebrates with a special meal of hishimochi (diamond-shaped rice cakes) and shirozake (rice malt with sake).
Hanami (花見)[ Hanami party along the Sakai River in Beppu, Oita
Date: April
Other Names: Hanami (flower viewing), Cherry Blossom Festival
Information: Various flower festivals are held at Shinto shrines during the month of April. Excursions and picnics for enjoying flowers, particularly cherry blossoms are also common, as well as many drinking parties often to be seen in and around auspicious parks and buildings. In some areas the peach blossom, the traditional flower of Japan (the Cherry being a symbol from the Edo period symbolising the Samurai culture), is viewed as well though this flowers earlier than the Cherry. In some places flower viewing parties are held on traditionally fixed dates. This is one of the most popular events during spring. The subject of flower viewing has long held an important place in literature, dance and the fine arts. Ikebana (flower arrangement) is also a popular part of Japanese culture and is still practiced by many people today. Some main things people do during this event are: games, folk songs, folk dance, flower displays, rides, parades, concerts, kimono shows, booths with food and other things, beauty pageant, and religious ceremonies. Families go out during weekends to see the cherry blossoms, and participate in the many festivals and activities.
Hanamatsuri (花祭り)
Date: April 8
Other Names: Flower Festival Information: Hanamatsuri celebrates the birth of the Buddha. On this day, all temples hold 降誕会 (Gōtan-e), 仏生会 (Busshō-e), 浴仏会 (Yokubutsu-e), 龍華会 (Ryūge-e) and 花会式 (Hana-eshiki). Japanese people pour ama-cha (a beverage prepared from a variety of hydrangea) on small Buddha statues decorated with flowers, as if bathing a newborn baby. The tradition of bathing the Buddha originated in China and was introduced to Japan where it was first held in Nara in 606.[9] Lion dancing is also a major tradition practiced during Buddha's Birthday and has become associated with the festival in Japan.[10]
Tanabata (七夕)
Date: July 7 / August 5–8 (Sendai)
Other Names: The Star Festival Information: It originated from a Chinese folk legend concerning two stars-the Weaver Star (Vega) and the Cowherd Star (Altair)-who were said to be lovers who could meet only once a year on the 7th night of the 7th month provided it didn't rain and flood the Milky Way. It was named Tanabata after a weaving maiden from a Japanese legend, named Orihime who was believed to make clothes for the gods. People often write wishes and romantic aspirations on long, narrow strips of colored paper and hang them on bamboo branches along with other small ornaments.
Japanese Floating Lantern Festival (灯籠流し), Tōrō nagashi
Date: July 19
Information: One traditional custom to mark the end of the Bon Festival. Small paper lanterns containing a burning flame are either set afloat to a river, lake or sea or they are let go and float away into the night. Their light is intended to guide the way for deceased family members' spirits. Usually the person who lets the lantern go will write a message on the side.
Bon Festival (盆, bon)
Date: August 13–16
Information: A Buddhist observance honoring the spirits of ancestors. Usually a "spirit altar" (shōryōdana) is set up in front of the Butsudan (buddhist altar) to welcome the ancestors' souls. A priest may be asked to come and read a sutra (tanagyō). Among the traditional preparations for the ancestors' return are the cleaning of grave sites. The welcoming fire (mukaebi) built on the 13th and the send-off fire (okuribi) built on the 15th and 16th are intended to guide the ancestor's spirits back to their permanent dwelling place.
Momijigari (紅葉狩)
Date: October-
Information: The Japanese tradition of going to visit scenic areas where leaves have turned red in the Autumn. The tradition is said to have originated in the Heian era as a cultured pursuit.
Pocky no Hi (ポッキーの日)
Date: November 11
Information: The Japanese tradition of buying and eating Pocky sticks.[11]
"7-5-3" Festival (七五三, )
Shichi-Go-San
Date: November 15
Information: Three- and seven-year-old girls and five-year-old boys are taken to the local shrine to pray for their safe and healthy future. This festival started because of the belief that children of certain ages were especially prone to bad luck and hence in need of divine protection. Children are usually dressed in traditional clothing for the occasion and after visiting the shrine many people buy chitose-ame ("thousand-year candy") sold at the shrine.
Preparation for the New Year and Year-end fair
Date: late December
Other Names: Year-end (年の瀬, toshi no se), Year-end Fair (年の市, Toshi no Ichi)
Information: Preparations for seeing in the new year were originally undertaken to greet the toshigami, or deity of the incoming year. These begin on December 13, when the house was given a thorough cleaning; the date is usually nearer the end of the month now. The house is then decorated in the traditional fashion: A sacred rope of straw (shimenawa) with dangling white paper strips (shide) is hung over the front door to prevent evil spirits from entering and to show the presence of the toshigami. It is also customary to place kadomatsu, an arrangement of tree sprigs, beside the entrance way. A special altar, known as toshidana ("year shelf"), is piled high with kagamimochi (flat, round rice cakes), sake (rice wine), persimmons, and other foods in honor of the toshigami. A fair is traditionally held in late December at shrines, temples or in local neighborhoods. This is in preparation for the new year holidays. Decorations and sundry goods are sold at the fair. Originally these year-end fairs provided opportunities for farmers, fisherfolk and mountain dwellers to exchange goods and buy clothes and other necessities for the coming year.
Ōmisoka (大晦日,)
Date: December 31
Information: People do the general house cleaning (Ōsōji) to welcome coming year and not to keep having impure influences. Many people visit Buddhist temples to hear the temple bells rung 108 times at midnight (joya no kane). This is to announce the passing of the old year and the coming of the new. The reason they are rung 108 times is because of the Buddhist belief that human beings are plagued by 108 earthly desires or passions (bonnō). With each ring one desire is dispelled. It is also a custom to eat toshikoshi-soba in the hope that one's family fortunes will extend like the long noodles.

HIRAI MOMO as YASUMASA HANAE                                                          HOTLINE                                           TWENTY-ONE YEARS OLD                                                         STUDENT
* TW: DRUG MENTION & PHYSICAL ABUSE
WHAT IS SHE LIKE?
in your own modest opinion, you’re regarded highly by most people who know you. those who don’t like you, they’re there but they’re more comedic to you than anything else. a large reason why you and your products are so popular is because of your compassion and reliability. it’s not a lie when people describe you as composed, non-judgmental, and patient, but you’re not the saint people vision you as. when you think about it, you’re feeding people’s addictions, maybe tearing apart a few families. you’re an enabler. but it’s what you’re used to. you just can’t stop, and yeah, that’s pretty self-serving. you could also be described as deceitful. you often make up elaborate stories about your family — generally, they’re more pleasant than the reality, but you’ve spun the web nonetheless. although they may not say it, it’s obvious people like to think of you as an airhead because of your relaxed demeanor, and you say nothing to make them think otherwise. little do they know, you’re anything but. despite your less than stellar grades, you’re astute to the core, and you’re more often than not observing your surroundings. that being said, you don’t ever do much with any information you figure out, but it’s good to know. even though you’re not some overtly exuberant, little miss sunshine it’s rare to see you showing negativity, and virtually impossible to imagine you shouting at someone. it’s not that you don’t get those feelings, but they’re sparse and when they do happen, you’ve already mastered the art of biting your tongue and contorting your face when necessary. you really don’t care about what people think of you anymore, but you despise confrontation and would rather avoid fighting with people.
WHERE IS SHE FROM?
SENDAI, JAPAN. JANUARY 28TH, 1997. a star is born. well, perhaps, but their name certainly isn’t yasumasa hanae. you were born five years after the last yasumasa child, your sister being renowned for her brilliance and ability to easily ace any test handed to her. one thing she wasn’t? cute. so, the matriarch created you, and eagerly awaited her child bred of perfection. when you were brought into this world, you were a happy, healthy, and most importantly adorable child. of course, things changed as you grew up. you rejected all of the pink dresses and the dolls your mother forced upon you just as much as your older sister, but your grades didn’t make up for it. you may have had the appearance for the lifestyle, but you never had the interest. your father was a diplomat, so he was often out of your life. when he was around, you begged him to teach you the languages he could speak, just as a means of bonding, but he remained tight-lipped. on a good day, you’d get a smile out of him, but it was rare. he was constantly emitting exhaustion.
you were twelve years old when your life significantly changed. without your trouble home life in mind, you were content. around school, you were known as a trouble maker, but you preferred the word dauntless. one night, you woke up to the sound of shouting. you overheard diabolical words being exchanged between your mother and father, but you could only comprehend the consequential bits. he was permanently moving to south korea, but she was pregnant and wanted to raise the child in japan. you woke up your sister, the girl who had been taunting and hitting you since you could walk, despite her own gawkiness. she didn’t care about the situation, because she’d be free in a matter of months, thanks to her birthday, and yet you had years to go. she did point out, however, the timeline in which the matriarch got pregnant. it seemed to coincide perfectly with her weekly “business meetings”, which had always been suspicious because she was a trust fund baby, and you were daft enough to inquire about it the next morning. it wasn’t the first time she had slapped you for you big mouth, but it would be the last. you were going to south korea.
as you were on the plane, it became evident your father didn’t ask for you to be taken with him. that did little to deter your excitement. you’d never been out of japan before, nor had you been away from your mother for longer than a second. but she was having another girl and this one, she wouldn’t mess up. YOU WERE FREE! not to mention, you two were going to live in the capital, the most bustling of cities. you always knew very little of their culture, because you were quite content with your own, even if the people of that culture never received you very well. little did you know, it’d be the same in south korea. you automatically stuck out like a sore thumb, and the kids around you made certain you knew. you’d spend the majority of your time learning korean, because you had nothing else to do. studying for school was tedious, and your father was always too occupied to take you anywhere. fortunately, you were at an age where learning a language was still somewhat effortless. by fourteen, you were advanced. nobody cared, and you remained an outcast. it wasn’t until you were fifteen that you officially became part of a group of friends. this didn’t help your reputation at all, given they were the “wrong crowd” to be around. no parent wanted their child to be near them, much less in with them, but your father was never too involved in your life. the only thing he asked of you, in case anyone were to find out you were his child, was to not humiliate him.
your friends were rumored to dabble in illegal substances, which you soon discovered was accurate. this realization changed little, they accepted you and you’d take what you could get. they never forced you to put that stuff into your body. the only thing they asked of you?sell. selling illegal drugs seemed like a small price to pay for their loyalty and love. little did you know that it’d engulf your entire life. being with them helped shape you. as you grew, it became easier to make friends, but it was still difficult to kick the habit of selling when it was all you knew. besides, you’re not sure you want to stop selling. you could’ve left south korea years ago, but you’ve built a mini-empire for yourself. to those who know of your side business, you’re on their speed dial; you’re the one they call at two in the morning when they need a pick-me-up. you never complain about it or judge them, and you deliver some of the best quality products in the area. of course, daddy still doesn’t know about what you do for a living. surely, it would tarnish his reputation and possibly break his robotic heart if the world were to know he has an addict daughter. FALSE!but you know how speculation functions, and either way, your deal with him as well as whatever trust you two have gathered over the years would be shattered, and for some reason, you sort of, maybe care. it would definitely be less precarious to find another profession, but hey, you’re living on the wild side, and having a damn good time.
