Gangadhareshwara Shiva Statue, Aazhimala temple, Kerala
FindingTemples™ wrote : Aazhimala Siva Statue also know as Gangadhareshwara Statue is the tallest Bhagwan Shiva statue in kerala, located inside the temple premises at Aazhimala Shiva Temple near Poovar - Kovalam road in Trivandrum.
At 52 feet high, the Bhagwan Shiva statue at Azhimala Shiva temple along with beach and cliff view around gives breath taking views for nature lovers and pilgrimages. No words to describe the Gangadhareshwara sculpture, it looks very real. You can directly see the Bhagwan shiva holding the goddess ganga in his locks. The statue is very detailed and very beautiful 3D structure constructed by Devadathan.
Places is located at 21 KM from Trivandrum. Har Har Mahadev. 📹Credit @roverpack_ (via Instagram: FindingTemples™ )

In this article, we will take you on a virtual tour of Haridwar, highlighting its must-visit tourist places and what makes each of them special.
1. Har Ki Pauri: Your journey through Haridwar begins at Har Ki Pauri, one of the holiest ghats on the banks of the Ganges. The name "Har Ki Pauri" means "Footsteps of God," and it is believed to be the spot where Lord Vishnu left his footprint. The ghat is illuminated by countless oil lamps in the evening during the Ganga Aarti, a divine spectacle that draws pilgrims and tourists alike. Witnessing the Ganga Aarti here is a profound experience that will stay with you forever.
2. Chandi Devi Temple: To continue your spiritual journey, you can visit the Chandi Devi Temple, which is perched on Neel Parvat. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Chandi, who is considered the guardian deity of Haridwar. To reach the temple, you can take a scenic cable car ride offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and the Ganges below.
3. Mansa Devi Temple: Just like the Chandi Devi Temple, the Mansa Devi Temple is another significant place of worship in Haridwar. It is situated on Bilwa Parvat and is dedicated to Goddess Mansa, the wish-fulfilling goddess. Devotees and tourists can reach the temple by either trekking or taking the ropeway, which provides an exhilarating ride over the city.
4. Maya Devi Temple: Located in the heart of Haridwar, the Maya Devi Temple is one of the city's oldest temples. It is dedicated to Goddess Maya, an incarnation of Shakti. The temple holds immense historical and religious significance and is a must-visit for those interested in the city's heritage and culture.
5. Daksheshwara Mahadev Temple: This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to be the site where Lord Shiva was anointed as the King of the Universe by his father-in-law, King Daksha. The temple's architecture is a sight to behold, and it offers a tranquil atmosphere for devotees and visitors.
6. Bhimgoda Tank: Bhimgoda Tank is a sacred water body where, according to Hindu mythology, Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, created a water source by striking the ground with his knee to quench the thirst of the local people. The tank is surrounded by lush greenery and offers a peaceful spot to relax and rejuvenate.
7. Gau Ghat: Haridwar's connection to the holy cow, revered in Hindu culture, is beautifully represented at Gau Ghat. Here, you can find a large bronze statue of a cow, signifying the sacred importance of this animal in Indian tradition.
8. Sapt Rishi Ashram: If you're interested in delving deeper into the spiritual aspect of Haridwar, a visit to the Sapt Rishi Ashram is highly recommended. This tranquil ashram is associated with the seven sages who meditated here, and it offers an ideal setting for meditation and self-reflection.
9. Rajaji National Park: For nature enthusiasts, Rajaji National Park is a short drive from Haridwar and offers a wonderful escape into the wilderness. The park is home to diverse flora and fauna, including elephants, tigers, leopards, and various species of birds. A jungle safari here can be an exciting addition to your Haridwar itinerary.
10. Neel Dhara Pakshi Vihar: Located near Bhimgoda Tank, Neel Dhara Pakshi Vihar is a paradise for birdwatchers. It is a bird sanctuary where you can spot a variety of migratory and resident birds. The serene ambiance and chirping of the birds make it a peaceful retreat for nature lovers.

Here, you can learn and practice yoga and explore the benefits of ayurvedic treatments. The sprawling campus also houses a beautiful garden and a serene environment for spiritual and physical wellness.
12. Shantikunj Ashram: Shantikunj Ashram, founded by Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya, is a spiritual and social organization dedicated to the upliftment of human consciousness. It conducts various spiritual and educational programs and is an excellent place to learn about ancient Indian wisdom and spirituality.
13. Rajghat: Rajghat, a peaceful spot on the banks of the Ganges, is a place where Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed after his assassination. It is a place of historical significance and a reminder of India's struggle for independence.
14. Bharat Mata Mandir: The Bharat Mata Mandir, or Temple of Mother India, is a unique temple dedicated to the nation itself. It features a relief map of India carved out of marble, symbolizing the unity in diversity of the country.
15. Gurdwara Patna Sahib: Haridwar is not only a center of Hindu spirituality but also a place of significance for Sikhs. Gurdwara Patna Sahib is one such place, dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru. It's a serene and spiritual place that welcomes people of all faiths.

The demigods and demons kept on churning the ocean, and several precious life forms, materials, and gems kept on emerging like butter from churnedyogurt. Everyone from among the demons and demigods ran to lay hands on these items. Then emerged poison, and everyone ran away. The one who came forward was Shiva, drinking the poison and keeping it in his throat, elevating him to the status of Neelkanth Mahadev (The blue throated supreme deity). The most potent elixir followed, and jumped in all except Shiva, fighting over the pot of elixir. Vishnu had to take form of the most beautiful feminine imaginable, and tricked the demon, took away the pot and roamed all over the sky, distributing elixir to demigods. In all this act, drops of elixir fell on Earth. One of them fell at Har ki Paudi, Haridwar, in Ganga, exactly at the spot that you see in the photo. The story can be argued as mythological, or some might say it is a true story told through poetic symbols. What cannot be argued, is that Har ki Paudi (the entrance to the abode of Divine) shine gloriously every evening at dusk, when devotees of Hindu ideologies gather to express their deep respect to mother Ganga (river Ganges). . . . . . . . . . . #haridwar #harkipaudiharidwar #harharmahadev #harkipauri #harkipaudiharidwar🙏🙏 #haridwardiaries #harkipaudi #ourcultureourpride #ministryofcultureindia #ourstreets #streetphotosclassic #streetphotographersawards #streetphotographersfdn #streetsofindia #streetphotographersFoundation #streetphotographerindia #streetlensmag #indiatravel #indiatraveldiaries #indiaphotosociety #hindutva #gangaaarti #ganga #culture #indianculture #globalculture #natgeoyourshot #viajar #travelphotographyindia (at Haridwar Harkipurhi) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cml505JoIlH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Shiva, Maheshwara, the Divine Lord, combines with the energies of wisdom (Gyana), will (Ichha), and action (Kriya) to form the fountainhead of all knowledge. Usually, he is depicted as sitting in meditation in Padmasana. This is in consonance with his status as an ascetic yogi. Shiva is usually unclad in his upper half, indicating the transcendental nature of his divinity. His body is smeared with ashes indicating the presence of the physical universe but only on the foundation of the transcendental divinity of Shiva. Shiva encompasses and transcends all physical phenomena and remains unaffected by them. In Hinduism, the Linga symbol represents the attempt to give form to the formless, also referred to as Supreme Brahm. A Linga (symbol) is worshipped because it embodies all that is here on earth. Shivas Trishul represents the three aspects of consciousness - waking, dreaming and sleeping, and it represents the three gunas satva, rajas and tamas. Shul means problems or suffering. Trishul means that which destroys all kinds of suffering. Beads of Rudraksha on Shiva are said to be the solid form of the tears that Shiva sheds at the woes of his devotees. Rudra means fiercely strict. Aksha means eye, which signifies that Shiva constantly monitors all creation to ensure that all follow the divine laws laid down by him. The snake symbolically represents his control over desire and sensuality. The damru denotes his connection with the primal sound AUM, the creation of alphabets, languages, grammar and music. And His long matted hair denotes his spiritual life and his great powers.
