THAT BEING SAID...I can see it as a cute little thing. maybe they go out on one date. or she visits the host club and spends a lot of time with haruhi, and they become good friends that way. i think that would be cute...imagine kurakano, soga, and haruhi hanging out. tbh it's very fun to imagine host characters hanging out in a group that isn't their regular niche.

Kano looks up to see Haruka standing there. Smiling at him. 

"…Were you talking to me?"

"There isn’t anyone else here, right?" Haruka sits on the bench beside him, stretching a little before laying back, "And you are one.""Haruka-san. I know that you weren’t technically here the past few days but…the kinds of things I did then would say otherwise.""I’ve heard."

"And you still think that?"

"Yeah. I do."

Haruka’s smile is sincere. Not like the mask that Kano was forced to wear, that he could never remove. That he’s never grown past.

"You did all you had to do to protect everyone."

"That didn’t work so well did it? From what Shintaro said, I’m the reason everyone died.""If I’d never given up my body, that would never even  have been a possibility." Haruka says simply, "And that wasn’t something that you could control."

"That snake could have taken someone else’s."

"But they would be like sensei. Unable to control anyone until nightfall. Just the idea of losing someone to that scares me but you dealt with it and protected your family.”

"Not very well."

"Well enough for Ayano-chan to trust you with her plan and for protecting her beloved family." Haruka’s smile is gentle now, "I know how much you all mean to her. And I know how much she means to you. I was her friend."

"You still are."

"See, this is what I mean." Haruka leans over and ruffles Kano’s hair. His fingers are warm.

"Oi, Haruka-san! Don’t!"

"Ah, sorry."

"No, don’t be. I just don’t like…that."

"Being touched? I see. Sorry."

"Don’t be! It’ll make it seem like I’m bullying you, Haruka-san! Takane-san would get mad at me!"

"I’ll just say that you aren’t. Takane would believe me."

"She’ll still want to beat me up though!"

"She won’t!"

"Haruka-san, with such flawed judgement, I still don’t believe what you say about me!"

"You should. You should see yourself for how good a person you are." And Haruka sounds completely serious. 

It’s stupid. But hearing someone say that actually makes him feel…

"Ah! You’re smiling!"

"…Huh? Oh, I am."

"I’m glad. You seemed really tired the last few days. Everyone was worried about you."

"Was I really?" Kano asked.

"Yeah! I’m glad to see that you’re ok now!"

Ok…? No, he still felt far from it, even though those hellish days were long gone. 

Still, he did feel better than he had been for the past couple of days. 

"Haruka-san?"

"Hm?"

"Thanks."

He blinks, then his smile is radiant. 

And Kano’s smile falters a little as his heart stutters for one long second.

"You’re welcome, Kano-kun."

Headcanon 17 HaruKano

A couple months into their relationship, Kano has finally started to become comfortable around Haruka. When Haruka asks Kano to come over to his house so he can draw a picture of him, Kano, who dislikes his own physical appearance, is reluctant, but one kiss from Haruka draws an "ok" from his lips. The day Kano is to come over arrives quickly, and soon, the blonde's inwardly panicking as he steps through Haruka's door. The black-haired boy is kind and warm to his boyfriend, leading him to the living room, and to where an easel is set up and supplies cover the floor.

Haruka asks Kano, carefully, if he could draw him without his mask on. Kano gets extremely frightened and self-conscious at this, and protests lightly against the idea. Knowing the other male's fear, Haruka envelops Kano into a warm, reassuring hug, kissing his blonde locks carefully as he pleads once more. Kano agrees, and carefully removes his deceive. With one more kiss, Haruka retreats to his easel, where he works swiftly. Kano stands awkwardly in place, a few stray tears escaping from his eyes as his boyfriend works. The moment he's done, Haruka beckons the blonde over to behind his easel. When Kano first lays eyes on the gorgeous painting his boyfriend created, he breaks down sobbing.

Haruka embraces him wordlessly, holding his tightly as the boy sobs into his shoulder, muttering things like, "I don't look like that," and, "I'm a monster." Haruka comforts him, telling him he wasn't a monster and he truly was that beautiful. The black-haired male pulls him gently onto the couch, careful not to cause any further harm to any of his wounds, and holds his boyfriend against his body, showering him with kisses and affection. Kano snuggles lightly against the crook of Haruka's neck, and they fall asleep in that position.
