The Ultimate Guide to Weed Concentrates: Types, Benefits, and Usage
Tumblr media
If you’ve ever been curious about weed concentrates but weren’t quite sure where to start, you’ve come to the right place. In this ultimate guide, we’re going to delve deep into the world of weed concentrates, covering everything from the various types available to their incredible benefits and how to use them effectively. So, sit back, relax, and explore this exciting aspect of cannabis together.
What are Weed Concentrates?
Weed concentrates are potent extracts derived from the cannabis plant. These concentrates are created by extracting cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant material, resulting in highly concentrated forms of THC, CBD, and other beneficial compounds. The process typically involves using solvents like butane, CO2, or alcohol to extract the desired components from the plant matter.
Types of Weed Concentrates
Now, let’s talk about the exciting part — the different types of weed concentrates you can find on the market:
1. Shatter
Shatter is a type of cannabis concentrate known for its glass-like consistency. It’s translucent and breaks easily into shards, hence the name. Shatter is prized for its high potency and purity, making it a favorite among seasoned cannabis consumers.
2. Wax
Wax, also known as budder or crumble, has a soft, wax-like consistency. It’s slightly opaque and easy to manipulate, making it ideal for dabbing or vaporizing. Wax comes in various textures, from creamy to crumbly, and offers a potent punch of cannabinoids and terpenes.
3. Live Resin
Live resin is made using freshly harvested cannabis plants that are immediately frozen to preserve their terpene profile. This results in a concentrate with a robust flavor and aroma closely resembling the original plant. Live resin is highly sought after for its intense flavor profile and potent effects.
4. Rosin
Rosin is a solventless concentrate made by applying heat and pressure to cannabis flower or hash. This process extracts the cannabinoids and terpenes without the need for solvents, resulting in a pure and flavorful concentrate. Rosin is popular among DIY enthusiasts due to its simplicity and purity.
5. Hash
Hash, also known as hashish, has been around for centuries and is one of the oldest forms of cannabis concentrate. It’s made by compressing resin-rich cannabis trichomes into a solid block or paste. Hash can vary in texture and potency depending on the production method and strain.
The Benefits of Weed Concentrates
Now that you’re familiar with the different types of weed concentrates, let’s talk about why they’re so popular among cannabis consumers:
1. Potency
Weed concentrates are highly potent, containing much higher levels of cannabinoids like THC and CBD compared to traditional cannabis flowers. This means you can achieve the desired effects with smaller doses, making concentrates a cost-effective option in the long run.
2. Fast-Acting Relief
Due to their high potency, weed concentrates provide fast-acting relief for various medical conditions, including chronic pain, anxiety, and insomnia. Whether you prefer vaping, dabbing, or edibles, concentrates offer quick relief when you need it most.
3. Versatility
One of the great things about weed concentrates is their versatility. Whether you’re looking for intense psychoactive effects or therapeutic benefits without the high, there’s a concentrate out there for you. From dabbing to cooking, the possibilities are endless.
How to Use Weed Concentrates
Now that you’re ready to dive into the world of weed concentrates, let’s talk about how to use them effectively:
1. Dabbing
Dabbing is one of the most popular methods of consuming weed concentrates. It involves heating a nail or banger with a torch and then applying a small dab of concentrate to the hot surface. The vapor produced is then inhaled for fast-acting effects.
2. Vaping
Vaporizing is another popular method of consuming weed concentrates. Vape pens and dab rigs are specially designed to heat concentrates at lower temperatures, producing smooth vapor without combustion. This method allows you to enjoy the full flavor and effects of the concentrate without the harshness of smoking.
3. Edibles
If inhalation isn’t your thing, you can also enjoy weed concentrates by incorporating them into edibles. From infused chocolates to gummies, the possibilities are endless when it comes to cooking with concentrates. Just be sure to decarboxylate your concentrate before adding it to your recipes for maximum potency.
Conclusion
And there you have it — the ultimate guide to weed concentrates! Whether you’re a seasoned cannabis connoisseur or a curious newcomer, there’s no denying the allure of these potent extracts. From shatter to wax to live resin, the world of weed concentrates offers something for everyone. So, why not give them a try and experience the incredible benefits for yourself? With MJ Direct, your trusted source for premium cannabis products, you can explore a wide range of high-quality concentrates and elevate your cannabis experience to new heights.

So Many Dabs… Let’s Concentrate on Concentrates!
Tumblr media
Older heads may call it all “Hash” but today the variety of concentrates on the market is truly head spinning. Your average MOM has 100 varieties of dabs with increasingly convoluted names and descriptors.
For those of you who may not be fully acquainted with the subtleties of different extraction methods on the final product, this can serve as a primer to the topic. When we talk about extraction we mean, separating the essential parts of cannabis that gets you high from the parts that don’t. Let’s get it.
Solvent Based Extraction
The active compounds in Cannabis are oils. As such they can be stripped from the plant material using solvents. Many small-scale operators and artisanal extractors use butane or propane extraction technology to produce a light-coloured product with a rich terpene aroma. Using pressure, solvents and vacuum ovens, extractors can create different consistencies based on starting material or methodologies.
These solvents have a low boiling point that makes them ideal for extraction because they can be removed without damaging the heat-sensitive cannabinoids or terpenes. Propane has an extremely low boiling point of -43.6 Fahrenheit, and butane has a boiling point of 30.2 Fahrenheit. This is much lower than the boiling points of myrcene and delta 9-THC, which are commonly found in cannabis. Myrcene, for instance, has a boiling point between 331-334 Fahrenheit, while delta 9-THC has a boiling point of 314.6 Fahrenheit. This means that the solvents can be removed from the extract without damaging the important components of the plant.
Here are specific examples of types of different solvent based concentrates you will find on menus all around the world…
Shatter
Like it sounds, glasslike, usually pale yellow. Cheap because the process is among the easiest. It is extracted from cured weed and put in a vacuum oven.
Live Resin
After harvest the plant material is either frozen to preserve freshness or run through extraction immediately. You may hear industry folks call this “Fresh frozen” too when referring to live resin. This makes for a wetter, more terpene rich concentrate.
Budder
Sometimes instead of a vacuum oven budder is whipped up over low heat, introducing air into the mix and fluffing up the product.
Sauce
Some strains, especially when run frozen or wet, will have a lot of liquid due to high terpene content. This can also be poured off the top when creating diamonds. (see below) This is very terpene rich.
Diamonds
To make rock candy you saturate water with sugar and then manipulate the temperature to recrystallize the sugar around a stick. Diamonds are weed rock candy. Replace water with solvent and sugar with THC. Don’t use a stick. Usually diamonds come in a soup of their own terpene sauce. Sometimes they are taken out and sold separately.
Mechanical Extraction
Mechanical extractions use forces like friction, temperature and pressure to extract the cannabinoids and terpenes from plant material in Cannabis plants. This form of extraction uses no solvents. (water could be argued as a solvent for certain terpenes or flavanoids, but we’re getting pretty deep there.) No butane or propane is used in this process. Many cannabis lovers claim the high is more full and similar to a flower effect from mechanical extraction.
Rosin
The cream of the crop and hard to find in Canadian MOMS. This is bud, bubble or kief that has been squished in a press through filters at specific microns. The taste is great and no weird chemicals are used. Yield is terrible so the price is high.
Bubble Hash
Ice, water, agitation and filters at different micron sizes are used to separate trichome heads from marijuana. Color and micron information can provide a lot of context for quality.
Kief
You know, like the stuff in the bottom of your grinder? The dried trichome heads broken off and collected are hash at its most basic form.
This is by no means a complete list of words you’ll hear wooks say when talking about their concentrates, but if you know your way around these hashes, you’ll be more than primed to deal with ordering anxiety next time you’re confronted with a daunting list of ways to get blazed.
Now that you know what you’re dabbing, let’s get you up to speed on what you can use to enjoy these products in the next article. We can go through some “Rig” setups and get you something nice and “Functional”. That’s what all the cool kids call it.
As a quick side note, if you’re inexperienced with weed, take it easy on the concentrates. Less is more to start in most scenarios and this one is no different. The experience can be overwhelming for the uninitiated. Have fun and enjoy your dabs!
TL;DR: Wet = terps. // Mechanical = no ‘tane!

your current lil cal is so wonderfully constructed..........im half tempted to ask if youd take commissions to make another (this is the roundabout way of doing so because i am nervous about asking)
Aww, how kind. You're making cal blush 🧡
I've given some thought to making more. I dont think i would make another one exactly like mine, since i took some creative liberties to make him special.
But i could still make others that are just as accurate. We'd have to hash out the details. It would cost a pretty penny, tho. The materials alone are around $100 at best if you want all the bells and wistles like mine. (Resin, squeakers, sneakers, etc.)
I've been wanting to make another anyway, for a side project of mine. i can get an estimate for the total time and effort that goes into him that way as well.

my wife and I smoke oiled joints from our local shops after work every night. I like lemon haze urkle. Problem is last 6 months I can't get high anymore. She can, but everything I tried, no dice. Even went clean for a week and nothin. My wife's not happy her 5ft queenie can't get high anymore. My pussy misses being high too fuck :( any tips or tricks to help? - girls who smoke weed.
It’s sounds like you smoke infused J’s
Infused Joints are already stronger than your average joint. Distillate in the joints is similar if not the same as distillate in cartridges which is a more concentrated form of cannabis which does increase your tolerance the more you smoke it, similar with live resin and hash rosin but more so.
My personal experience with distillate is that if I use it too often the high does get bland after awhile and you have to switch to something stronger like live resin & hash rosin etc which is a whole other ball game if you don’t take a tolerance break.
A week - two weeks is normally long enough for a person with little - no tolerance to get THC out of their system but for people who smoke everyday + what they smoke; it could take longer to for it to clear your system but up to a month usually.
It also really depends on the cultivars you’re smoking too, THC percentage isn’t the most important part of shopping for your flower but higher THC is needed for people with a higher tolerance.
a 3 week-month tolerance should work for people who smoke everyday, maybe try switching up what you smoke after your break while also be mindful of your potential “new” tolerance, and don’t go for the highest THC and test out how you feel with it to see if it helped!
I’m not sure if they give you terpene information but terpenes are what makes you feel the stimulating or relaxing effects in cannabis, it’s also possible that the flower you got had a poor terpenes profile so you’re only feeling the high thc which is a boring af high especially with a high tolerance.
Everyone’s body chemistry is different and every batch of flower even by the same company will always slightly differ in qualities because no plant will ever grow back 100% the same and it also depends on who’s growing it.
I hope this helps, I’m sad you’re experiencing this!😭
If you have a it other questions I will do my best to answer them, if I don’t have an answer I’ll find one for you 🙌🏼

Worldbuilding: Consider Arctic Bees
Ran across a throwaway line about arctic bees in an SVSSS fic. There are some creative writers in that fandom, taking full advantage of the fact that Proud Immortal Demon Way was canonically a badly-written hash with excellent monsters, to do some really neat worldbuilding.
So. Arctic bees. What if you want something like that in your story?
First, decide how close to real-world biology you want your bees to be. Do you want “arctic bees” to be just another name for an actual Earth species? Do a quick search on bees in Alaska, Siberia, Greenland, or the Scandinavian countries. You probably want to do that anyway for ideas, even if you plan to base them more on magic or alien biochemistry.
Once you’ve familiarized yourself with the weirdness of bees, a few questions might come up. Should your arctic bees be solitary or colonial? Do they make honey? If so, how thick, and what quantities? Does it have the same healing properties as honeybee honey, based on hydrogen peroxide and high sugars dehydrating bacteria? Does it have extra qualities? Do the bees make wax? Propolis? What tree saps, resins, or other substances do they use? Are they strictly nectar/pollen-eating types, or are they like wasps and open to a little insect (or other!) meat as well?
Moving out into the wider world, if they’re bees, that implies flowers. What’s blooming, and when?
Note, you probably don’t need a month-by-month breakdown of this unless it’s important for plot purposes. (Or you just want neat background color.) You should put in details if the flowers are doing something unusual. Blooming in the middle of an icefield, for one. Invoking elemental fire to melt away the snow so they can grow. Or maybe they’re flowers of Ice itself, growing due to the magic left over by a long-forgotten battle between fay of ice and flowers.
And while we’re on the subject of striking visuals, what about those bees? Are they in the typical white/yellow and dark-banded mode? Green like mason bees? Or striking blues and whites to fit the winter theme? If the last, you might want to think about if you’re doing snow colors, or going with the more realistic theme of “coloration meant to deter predators”. Consider the blue-ringed octopus! If your arctic bees’ usual fellow species recognize that shade of blue means a sting that freezes you from the inside out, it’d have to be a really crafty critter who could plunder those hives.
Your characters are likely crafty. But are they clever enough?

100 Strains Renewal Program—Harlequin
Tumblr media
The strain is a cross between three landrace strains, a Nepali Indica and two landrace strains from Thailand and Switzerland, which were then pollinated by a Colombian Gold male.
The strain was originally cultivated for making hash/concentrates, but rather than creating a resinous strain that was high in THC, the breeder ended up creating a strain that gained notoriety for its elevated CBD content.
These patchwork genetics may account for the strain’s name - “harlequin” originally referred to the brightly-patterned costumes of traditional Italian clowns of the same name. It's worth noting that harlequin is a clone-only strain, meaning that in order to cultivate it, prospective growers need to obtain clippings from a mature plant.
These clones are often available at cannabis conventions and expos, or could be obtained from a fellow grower.
Although several digital seed companies purport to sell packaged seeds of Harlequin, such claims should be regarded with suspicion, as the strain’s growers claim to have never released seeds.
