this week has been very interesting, in regards to my service learning course, especially the semester-long project. on monday, my group met with Rick and Emily to discuss our findings and learn about other avenues to look for hateful and offensive content online. off of their reccomendatipn, i have been looking thorugh the social media site Parler for offesnive content. alothough i have only been looking for a week, the content which i have come across on the site is definately more blantant and open in expressing their hateful content/messages. interestingly, i repeatedly came across the symbol “o/” on several Parler pages. from waht i could tell, it is a reference to the Nazi salute. i will keep looking though the smaller social media site this upcoming week and also plan on looking more into the site, iFunny. class wise, i have enjoyed what we discussed this last week. it was interesing to learn about early christianity in the Roman Empire from both a christain and non-christian perspective. i had read other works by Pliny the Younger in my class on Pompeii, so i especially enjoyed learning about his persepcitive and opinions on the matter.additonaly, it was intersting to see how Gregory Nazianus utilitized the older literary genre of iambus and how it was influenced by his christain background. for the exam on mondya, i have been rereading all the primary and secondary sources and identifying the key themes in each. it has definataly been alot of work however, i felt that it has been managebale. for the creative project, i have begun outlining what i will write.
