The Best Time to Catch Waves at Pine Trees Surfing Beach: A Seasonal GuideSurfing at Pine Trees Beach is a year-round activity, but the best time to catch waves is during the winter months from November to February. Winter swells create consistent waves up to 10 feet high. Spring and fall offer smaller waves, ideal for beginners. Summer waves are inconsistent and smaller, but perfect for longboarding. Check the surf report before heading out to the beach. The best time to surf is during high tide, and the wind direction should be offshore. High tide provides better waves and more water to surf on. Pipeline, North Shore Oahu. Known as one of the top surfing spots in the world. Surfers from all over crave to catch a wave up at the North Shore during the winter swells. With waves rising to 30ft high during this time of the year, surf competitions become regular thing.
I began surfing a year ago, then recently got more into it the past couple of months. My partner was able to make me very own longboard. A 9ft beauty; the color as right as Orange Fanta. This board has become my best friend and I finally understand why there are people who surf day and night. The feeling when you catch a long wave is thrilling.
I’m absolutely no pro, but that doesn’t mean I don't have my favorite surf spots! My number one being located right in Ewa Beach. When I tell people, they easily mistake it for beach called White Plains. Although that is a great area for beginners to intermediate level. This special spot is located at the very end of Ewa in a neighborhood beach access letter “D”. They're is hardly anyone ever there and that is why it makes it one of the best local spots to surf.
Coming in a close second is a popular spot to many called Chuns. Located in the North Shore, just pass Turtle Beach. This can be a crowded area with beginners learning for the first time, locals and everyone in between. If you arn’t too sure on your surfing skills, my tip is to stay on the outside of the wave. The worst thing to happen personally is to get in a locals way and hear about it for the rest of the time you’re out there.
These spots are just a few out of the many in Oahu. If you're a bystander or out in the water, surfing is an amazing hobby to watch and do.
