Finally, the last baby was potty trained and all of their toddlers were fully prepared to age up to children. The house still looked like a daycare most of the time, but everyone was happy, well-fed, and as self-sufficient as their ages would allow. Mason and Mara were able to have a few minutes to themselves, but they were looking forward to the day when the kids were all at school. Maybe even boarding school.

Cue "Eye of the Tiger" and a learning montage!

Mason took a leave of absence from his job so he and Mara could devote all their time to teaching the babies to walk, talk, and use the potty. Sometimes it felt more like they were running a daycare, and many days they passed each other like ships in the night. Fortunately, Erika and Dylan had already mastered everything before the triplets arrived, so Mason and Mara worked with Noah first, then teamed up to teach the triplets.

Tips for multiple toddlers:

1. Around the Sims 3 toddler beds will save your life. They can be assigned, so each baby knows where to go when they're sleepy. Cheaty, but it gets the job done.

2. Skip the high chair. Those kids will have a whole lifetime eating solid food. Feed the babies a bottle on the floor.

3. A morning routine of snuggle, change diaper, change clothes, and feed on floor will keep their meters in the green long enough for Mom and Dad to eat and get showered.

4. The learn to walk alone mod is super useful. Walkers are cute, but who has time to get the babies in and out? Also kind of cheaty, but letting them learn to walk on their own frees up Mom and Dad to work on potty training and learning to talk.

5. Have a lot of skill building toys on hand so any babies who aren't being actively taught to walk or use the potty will gravitate toward learning something.

Once in every legacy (or at least that's what I'm telling myself), a child comes along who looks like absolutely no one...and yet maybe looks like everyone who came before? I don't know if Hayley is a glitch or the culmination of ten generations of genetic blending, but she is (as @papermint-airplane calls her) a baby angel. Her traits are brave, disciplined, dramatic, artistic, and charismatic. Her school traits were dramatic and charismatic, and she could literally be anything.

So. This is interesting. When Hayley was born, she had some of the features that have become almost standard in my legacy genetics. If you look at her toddler photo (especially the one of the triplets) you can see she looks like her siblings, despite having black hair.

But when she aged to a child, that's where something went awry. Since most Sims 3 kids look similar at that life stage, I didn't think much of it, but I did note that her eye color was lighter. I sent her off to boarding school with the rest of the kids and didn't think about it again.

But when she aged to a young adult, it became very clear that Hayley glitched. I copied my current save, and spawned several instant babies with her and a random townie to see if the family genetics might still be passed down. One of them had Mara's white hair, but all of them had zero slider faces like Hayley. Sadly, Marzhan's nose--which has been a legacy hallmark since Alexandra was born in generation six--was nowhere to be seen.

Making Hayley the heir would be a genetic reset of the legacy, which is not really what I want. While I admit there hasn't been a huge variation in faces from one generation to the next, watching the family resemblance pass down has been fun. Hayley is probably the most adorable zero slider face I've ever seen, but there's no resemblance at all.

Obviously I'm not going to kick her out of the family. She's still a Shimada and we all still love her, but Hayley is disqualified from being the heir.

TL; DR: Due to a glitch, Hayley is not eligible be the heir.

It was a hard decision but Mara and Mason wanted the kids to get the best start in life, so they enrolled each of them in boarding school. Erika headed off to School of Peace and Love. Dylan went to Dribbledine Sports Academy. Noah went to Smuggsworth Prep School. Mika went to Fort Starch Military School. And Heath and Hayley went to Le Fromage Art School. Will it be everything they hope it will be? We'll find out!

Finally, the triplets aged up. Heath went first and gained the artistic trait. Next was Mika, who gained the technophobe trait. And Hayley, who not only gained the disciplined trait, but her eyes are light brownish gray--the only one in the family without dark-colored eyes!

Heath (middle) is a Capricorn whose first traits are brave and genius. His favorite food is pumpkin pie, favorite music is pop, and favorite color is yellow.

Mika (right) is a Capricorn whose first traits are evil and friendly. Her favorite food is ratatouille, favorite music is roots, and favorite color is lime green.

Hayley (left) is a Capricorn whose first traits are artistic and brave. Her favorite food is spaghetti, favorite music is pop, and favorite color is Irish green.

Because Mason and Mara share the same skin tone, I was pretty sure all the kids would be eligible, unless some previous generation DNA slipped through. So, we now have six potential heirs.
