So somebody's gotta talk about Sally watching Barry adoringly while he does the Macbeth monologue in the biopic, yeah??? How Hollywood takes a woman's accomplishment and hands it to a murderous and violent man they'd rather paint as a hero? How uncomfortable it was as an audience member to watch them give Worst Actor On Earth Barry Block one of the hardest monologues in Shakespeare as if Sally would EVER be happy for someone else's success???

Woooow Hank had no lines in the biopic and Cristobal wasn’t even in it. That isn’t even to mention how they butchered the story 1/5 stars DO NOT WATCH THE MASK COLLECTOR

the entire framing of the breakup scene where cristobal was trying to walk out but hank was insistent that he cannot leave him without ever explaining WHY …. i’m grinding my teeth together. just the repeated demanding “you can’t leave me” that dissolved into panicked “i love you” and “i’m sorry” and trying to physically hold onto cristobal …… and like, we as the audience know that hank is so desperate to keep cristobal inside bc batir’s men will kill him if he leaves hank (idr the other guy’s name but he basically said as much when they left), but regardless it’s still a super uncomfortable scene between a guy trying to leave a boyfriend who REFUSES to let him go, to the point of being angry and physical. and the performance anthony carrigan gave when cristobal finally left and hank went back inside??? i need a bridge and i need it now

i’m gutted but if my favorite character in any piece of media is going to die i at least want it to be as cinematic and narratively satisfying as humanly possible. barry hbo you will always be famous.

I feel like every review of the Barry series finale that's like 'it was just meh...' is intentionally missing the point cause if they actually had to confront 'hey we as a country venerate service members to an insane degree when, just like normal people cause that's what they are, some of them are bad people. we will jump through hoops to absolve any wrongs these people commit. the police do get it massively wrong sometimes. justice is not always dished out. and we will make a butchered spectacle out of a tragedy for ticket sales.' they wouldn't get many clicks.....

The fact that Sally probably didn't want John to watch The Mask Collector because she KNEW it painted Barry as a hero.

And she's not stupid, she already knows John sees his dad as a fallen hero and she didn't want to nurture that sort of thinking because she believed, deep down, that Barry was never going to change.

Only for John to go behind her back and watch it anyway furthering his own delusions about how his dad was nothing more than a war hero who was manipulated by his "evil" acting teacher to do his bidding...

When you visit your serial killer ex boyfriend and he asks you why you're not leaving and you can't say it's because you need him to love you and your acting teacher says the adoration is hard to resist and you can't say it's because you know him because you've killed a man too

But he knows that and he's not ratting you out and that's almost love and you say you feel safe with him but the second it's out of your mouth you realize it's not true and your career is in the tank and you watch him mouth I love you through the glass and you wonder if adoration is enough to fix you at this point

sally and barry aren't even sally and barry to their own son, something about that preacher talking about a guy in a den with two lions, barry straight up implementing fear into john by making him watch some kid DIE while playing baseball just so john would stop wanting to play or even have any kind of friends. sally wont even touch john, seriously that scene where sally can barely pat john made me saaddd. God they're isolating this poor boy in the worst kind of way and on top of that barry finally has someone who will believe and see him as a good person, the "hero" of his own story. barry telling his son about that story of saving albert's life but it's the twisted truth but it's just so far from all the versions we've heard before!!

there are parallels to make between sally “let’s go” reed and cristobal “it’s over” sifuentes wrt abusive situations and how different people deal with them but i’m not wordy enough to make them. something about sally feeling safe with barry despite his parallels to sam vs cristobal being afraid of hank because of his parallels to elena

The fact that they uno reverse card made Barry the one to do a Macbeth performance in the film adaptation is so fucking funny
