sada's a pretty open book i think, so i think most of the secrets he has are ones that really belong to other people but he's been trusted with not sharing. otherwise, perhaps he has a time or two when he did something during combat that looked really cool and like he was thinking on his feet but in reality it was just an "AACK!!" kind of reaction bc he was scared or something lol.

as much as negative words affect him, positive words don't usually do much for fudou but feel like weightless affirmations, trying to convince him of things that aren't true. so for him it's all about actions, really... i don't know that it fits in the "five love languages" ... maybe quality time i guess? standing up for him, asking for his help on things... and, maybe words in the way of genuine appreciation for something specific, rather than like "no, you're not useless, you're great" lol. just... generally wanting him included or showing they find him worth keeping around. if that all makes sense lol

you know i actually have always thought so. odd maybe, because he can be so abrasive and sometimes not very nice... but he likes animals and can usually handle them well. from cats, to dogs, to tiny critters, or horses, he gets on with them well. he doesn't really like birds though because sometimes they get tangled in his hair lol

when at home, especially with those he loves most (whether that's his toudans, or his closest companions, or what have you depending on verse). where he is familiar with the space and anyone who's there, who he knows won't judge him much, and who understand him. he does also like his alone time, and sometimes he needs it, but i'd say the reassurance of someone close ups the 'safe' feeling by a lot.

hmm..... he isn't the type to have too many little nitpicky annoyances, since he's very quick to try and explain or excuse things away (even if that means blaming himself lol)... but perhaps sometimes those who talk over others. Much of the time it's not really on purpose, but as a quiet person himself he tends to notice when someone is trying to say something but can't get a word in edgewise. He aspires to be able to like... Make space for someone else when they can't for themselves. He's working on it lol

🏞️ - Favourite place (Sunao)

Listen. this cat loves to be outside just... in general. But he really loves to be out in the fields, whether he's working or just sitting somewhere he can look out over them, in the sun. It's pretty, it's peaceful (even if there's some rambunctious goings-on), and it just feels very familiar and homey to him. plus, it reminds him of positive memories from when he was a blade as well, something that sometimes gets overshadowed for him.

🍕 - Favourite food (Taikyuu)

you already know I'm gonna say anything sweet lol. But I think... He would like hard candies, or like...candied fruit maybe? things with a crunchy hard outside and chewy or soft inside?

I've never had tanghulu myself but it seems very up his alley.

🌞🌜 - Is your character an early bird or night owl? What makes them that way?

I think Taikyuu tends to stay up later when he can, but I also actually kind of imagine him waking up early. Like... Idk, he's surprisingly(?) disciplined I guess. Or maybe he just doesn't sleep as much. He's got a lot of energy lol so... I imagine he sleeps from like midnight-1am to sunrise? 6-something? Unclear if that's good for him or not but he seems fine right ?? idk

🍰 - What is their favorite type of dessert or sweet?

Hmmm.. well I know Yuichi definitely likes coffee, especially cold/iced/blended stuff, so probably something like that, maybe with caramel or something similar.

He also likes chocolate! Back when he was trying to get through college sometimes he would get a big chocolate bar (the kind that break off into little squares) and eat one after he did part of his homework to keep him going lol.

(this man needs to get his hands on some chocolate covered espresso beans I think they would change his life)

💘 - What is your muse like when they're in love? What does your muse find attractive in someone else? What are their love languages? How do they show affection? Do they show any distinct signs that they're in love?

Yuichi:

Yuichi, as we know, gets very shy, but it seems that if he knows his feelings are reciprocated he gets comfortable with the other person in a way he isn't with anyone else (especially regarding physical touch/affection).

Well. I don't think Yuichi is too picky in terms of appearance. He is well aware that he is surrounded by beautiful men every day. (But lately he's been really into tall guys with golden eyes and black & blonde hair, so. ;3c)

I don't know if this is a love language exactly but... He's got a lot of unfun stuff going on in his brain. Anyone who can manage to pull him out of or see him through that stuff just... really can have a direct line to his heart. Patience with his struggles is something he really, really appreciates.

He feels like he takes a lot, especially in terms of just... comfort and support. So... when he gets the chance, he tries to give, and to at least make sure he wants to do the so. Physically, he loves playing with the other person's hair, and holding hands. (He's very much the type to hold hands tightly when stressed/excited/very happy)

As far as distinct signs... well, again, he gets very shy around the person, and quite distracted in general. Depending on circumstances, he might find himself nervous or quite stressed, especially if he isn't sure how the other person feels.

Sengo:

Sengo is a little trickier I think. He becomes quite protective, I think, and depending on circumstances maybe a little more annoying. (I think Saseki might be a special case because the fact Saseki is his master means that he comes at it from a different and more wary angle (ie repressed his feelings)). He's already pretty flirtatious/teasing so I think it's the subtler things that would give him away.

Sengo is very prone to finding people cute/pretty/handsome lol, but I suppose as far as emotional attraction it's gotta at least be someone who... handles or maybe looks past his eccentricities, gives him the time of day.

I think what speaks to him might be persistence, similar in the above vein. For his part... Well. He's a very, very good hugger. He's also quite good at gassing people up, complimenting them and such and showing real interest. I've always thought of him as the type to see saniwa show up in a different look or something and be like "*hands on his cheeks* wahh, aruji! sooo cute/handsome/pretty etc!".

I'm not sure that he shows too many signs. Though he may appear a smidge more relaxed-- although I think those very close to him might pick up on that.

Taikyuu:

Taikyuu's answers I think might vary widely depending on who it is he's fallen in love with, so we'll see how this goes. I think as much disdain as he seems to have for taller people... He seems to find himself drawn to them in various ways. Souza is tall, Hasebe is tall, Jirou & Tarou are tall, his yari companion would surely be tall... Such is the life. He's stuck this way. Whoever it is, what gets him good in the heart is someone who understands him-- or at least tries to-- and shows him that, because he often feels like others don't as much.

His love language is very very much action-based than word-based. He is very unlikely to give you a speech or flowery words, and often any affectionate things one manages to extract from him will be yelled, snapped, or growled, aside from very rare occasions behind closed doors. More often, he might give a gift, do a favor, share something, etc. He very much likes physical affection, but it would probably take a while before he's up for doing that in front of people. Also if he lets you touch his hair, he likes you to some degree. Be fucking honored.

it's 5:30am 6:20am and I'm not sleepy enough, and I binged Katsugeki today so ...thoughts ?? probably dumb and incoherent but 👍👍👍

Mostly just "what if" yuichi headcanons and then I veer off into "well a guy can dream" territory

I'm thinking. Obviously I loooove running with the rain theme with yuichi. I'm thinking that when he uses his powers u hear the sound of thunder; more energy used means louder booms. Less means just some rumbles. Rain droplets/mist accompany the sakura petals when teleporting (not enough to soak, just enough to be like. Cool and energizing!!)

And if the above is true then I think new toudans at Nagame are basically born during a thunderstorm 🤔 LMAO in a different context that would be like...classic mad scientist vibes lol (like them animating their new creation, while thunder and lightning flash etc) 💀

I still am not sure how Exactly summonings work in a material sense (does a saniwa get like. The actual blade, like from the govt, just long enough to summon the sword? Or ..?)

But I think however it works, Yuichi performs the summoning alone and I think the...channeling he does is heavily emotional (?) more than simply spiritual, if that makes sense. Like... Maybe through this channeling he kind of... peels back layers to get to his core, where his power is purest and strongest, but also his emotions are most intense, and that's what he used to call forth a new touken danshi...?? It's not always a bad-emotions experience (he may be plagued with sadness and fear but he is more than that!) but still,,, He is probably then quite sensitive/raw after a summoning and might not be seen outside of his room for a day or two afterwards, unless it's necessary. Usually his kinji and/or one of his closer toudans are fine to check in on him but occasionally he'll request they just leave his food and go. Of course that's probably not the healthiest way to go about it but sometimes being near someone else is just too overwhelming.

I think this probably also instills a bit of guilt in him because that means he likely doesn't see any toudans he summons until they've already been there a day or two... :^( but he makes sure to greet them with food or something and try to spend some time with them once he's able. Thankfully, I think, he can do the summoning uhhhh remotely? this way the first thing a new sword sees is not A Mess and have to be like "uh...that's my new master? 😬"... Wouldn't instill a lot of confidence lol

Unrelated to that but I'm also thinking about if Taikyuu saw Harada Sanosuke while on a mission... Agh I think he'd have a hard time (unsurprisingly). Like he KNOWS he's not meant to be used as a main weapon, he's not an uchigatana anymore, and he KNOWS Harada favors spears anyway (he would love that spear to pieces if it ever manifested as a toudan), but I think part of him that's just so desperate to prove himself is so sad to see it in a way? Idk if that makes any sense LOL

Also LMAO on the chance they ran into each other taikyuu would 100% ask to see his scar. Then if he did show I see him saying something like "I did that... I could never have killed you..." etc and then probably weirding harada out LOL

Also I really shouldn't be thinking about my OCs being in toumyu cause I always fall into the trap of being sad my personal made-up characters aren't in the source material :( lol HOWEVER I'm thinking about it anyway

I think Taikyuu and Yams would have a really cool like. Rowdy song y'know, like a duet where they go bonkers on some HRA. They gotta get someone who's a good dancer to play him cause he also needs a... Like a kind of moody, cool tone song to dance to... Like if you crossed Endless Night with Gotta Go by Chungha...????

SUNAO AND KUWANA WOULD ABSOLUTELY 1000000% NEED A SONG WHILE THEY'RE DOING FIELD WORK I WOULD CRY...and then maybe like. A sad/somber reprise of it ohhhh...

5. what is your muse's ideal first date? (Yuichi)

I think it depends a bit who he's with and how comfortable he is with them, but in general I think he would do best in a relatively calm low-stakes kind of setting. Nothing too lively socially y'know... Something where maybe they can hold hands, and if they're going to kiss, somewhere they can do that without being watched. So maybe a movie, a walk around a garden, maybe a festival of some kind, or honestly just walking around town. But if there's an idea out of his comfort zone that his date puts forward he likely wouldn't say no... He'd either chicken out or just go and be uncomfortable 💀 (of course there's also the possibility that he might have fun but he's not good at seeing that beforehand lol)

12. does your muse get flustered easily? how would they typically react to compliments from someone they are interested in/dating? (Sengo)

HMM... In some ways I think no, but in other ways I think yes? Obviously he's the type to flirt a lot himself, but with these antics I think he doesn't always know what to do when it's reciprocated/turned back on him, especially if he thinks they're not just joking lol. I think he's still able to play it off most of the time, but if you really pay attention you'd notice his reaction-- pausing, blushing a little, trying not to smile too much lol

16. what is/are your muse's love language(s)? (Yasu)

As far as showing his own affection, for yasu it's very much in actions rather than words. He's (perhaps surprisingly) attentive, going out of his way to do things for his loved one, often literally with no words lol. He's not good with words, especially when he's trying to be nice-- sometimes even then he comes off sounding mean or angry

As far as receiving, I think the most prominent for him would be simply spending time with him. He knows he's a bit abrasive and not always easy to get along with, but those who take the time to try and understand him beyond that really mean a lot to him. Even if it's simply sitting in silence or asking him annoying questions, he might not readily show it but he appreciates it.

Yuichi & Saseki:

I know we briefly mentioned it so far but I really love the idea that Yuichi will/would have so much fun just sitting and painting with Saseki LOL jfjsjf like... Even if Yuichi is definitely not a painter, I think Yuichi would really like the casual just... Hanging out, maybe having a drink, and just painting, like no pressure or anything, just vibing. Maybe learning something from Saseki, maybe just doing their own thing

Yuichi thinks Saseki is like... so cool lol. Like a peer who has done and accomplished and overcome so much and hasn't seemed to lose his marbles yet lol. He only hopes he can be as competent and resilient should he face something tough.

I think eventually they'll get close enough that Yuichi can try and joke around with Saseki LOL. Like right now, he likes him a lot, but he's still like ... "Oh, we haven't known each other that well yet, I don't want to embarrass myself lol" but eventually... We'll see.

Maybe this isn't a headcanon so much as something I think would be cool but like. Their citadels joining forces sometime to take on the HRA or something, almost like a crossover episode, or...like...idk... Professor X and Magneto joining forces LMAO

Yuichi & Nagasone (doing some cause I can't resist):

In tandem with one that you wrote, I think Yuichi would very much go for the hands, especially when stressed or overwhelmed. Like, he's not the best at showing affection outright, but with some of his toudans he's gotten comfortable enough to reach out his hands. And Nagasone has big, strong, warm ones lol. Catch him gripping poor 'Sone's fingers real tight when something happens

Yuichi is very conscious of the fact that Nagasone lets him lean on him, can witness some of his less proud moments, and is always looking out for him, and I think he tries to take extra care to do the same for Nagasone when he can. Making sure he eats enough, rests enough, is handling things alright-- naturally what he does for any toudan, of course, but ... What I mean is he wants to take care that he isn't returning the favor, and not taking advantage of that thoughtfulness.

Taikyuu & Yamatonokami:

Taikyuu finds Yamatonokami so annoying. He's so... nice, and usually pretty cheerful, and kind of an airhead sometimes. God forbid Kashuu be away or something-- I think Taikyuu might not be far down the list for people to bother.

However. As different as they might be in many regards, the two are similar in their ferocity on the battlefield, and this is probably what makes Taikyuu the most proud to share a name with him. They probably get along the best/Taikyuu admires him the most, when they're both covered in blood and going a little apeshit lol

Also as annoying as he finds Yams, he's one of the few other toudans that I think Taikyuu would let intrude on his space (even if begrudgingly lol). He could come in to his room or sit beside him on the roof or engawa without much of a fuss, besides maybe a half-hearted "what do you want?". Especially if Yamatonokami was feeling down or something, he's like... Fine.

I don't think Taikyuu would realize how much he likes (loves) and appreciates Yams until he's gone away on kiwame 😭 he's already a bit lonely waiting for... Spear(TM), but Yams being gone is like... 'There goes the one person I never had to TRY and be close to', y'know? I'm emo now thinking about it 😭

Bonus: if Taikyuu were in toumyu too the Yasusada bros would both be doing flips all over the stage together lol it would be amazing

it feels very weird to say this bc yasu has always been Tiny Angry Man to me but I bet if he hadn't been broken as an uchigatana he would've been pretty tall lol like maybe in the 5'11"-6' range.

aghgfhdh it's so weird almost uncomfortable to think about HAHA like it reminds me of when I used the 'stretch skeleton' cheat on sims 2 to change characters height. We just streeetch him out... be like "oh no... This is wrong" ... And then squish him back down lol

One thing about having had yasu as an oc previously to making him a touken danshi is that it's sooooo much more natural to me to just call him Yasu but I do think it makes more sense to address him as Taikyuu since like... Just generally speaking, saying "Yasusada" means yamatonokami obv LOL

So what I'm saying is a) use whichever u like and b) if you see me switching back and forth... Shhh...

Also one big part of me just... Thinking about him in general is always always ... Him vs. Hasebe lol

Like ... I say "they'll totally butt heads" but I would not be surprised if they wound up at least almost straight-up fighting, if not actually doing so lol. They're both hotheaded enough, and one of them is bound to say something to set the other one off. And then they get sent on a mission, maybe wind up cornered or separated together and AGH... Them fighting so hard to protect each other and like. Gaining some mutual respect...

Like it wouldn't stop them from fighting at all but I also like to imagine that Yasu might often be seen lurking around wherever toudans are summoned, hoping it might be another of harada's swords/spear... Of course yasu wouldn't want to admit that he's waiting for that, or that in some ways he feels a bit lonely, and maybe... Maybe Hasebe would check in on him... Like I think they're only friends on the battlefield or behind closed doors lol

Or maybe when there's alcohol involved LOL

Completely unrelated but I also have always headcanoned that yasu likes to dance, whether it be pretty elegant dances or hard intense choreo LOL he's very flexible and agile and it's a harmless way to get energy out

i bet midare would think he's cool and ask him to join their little idol group jdjdjdksjdjs but yasu would be like "no that's childish" but midare is like "pleeeeeease? 🥺🥺🥺 maybe not full-time if you don't want... But...maybe you could feature or something?" and he is actually a bit surprised and definitely swayed by the actual interest and begrudgingly accepts to feature only to have an absolute blast and teach them maybe some harder moves idk

(also in this same vein sometimes I try to imagine yasu in myu but I haven't the slightest idea of anyone to play him or anything... I (still) have Ignition from Hanakage stuck in my head so naturally I'm envisioning him maybe dueting with hasebe or something HAHA)

Also this might be a little odd LOL but

I've always said also that yasu hates to be restricted/restrained/contained etc, it makes him anxious MAD and thus he fights harder..? (in d&d he would absolutely have a level in barbarian. he's got the rage). So that's my explanation to why he wears a harness under his (battle) getup. keeps him mad but also a bit grounded/alert. When he gets injured and the harness breaks he is Unleashed(TM)

I'm still not sure how exactly he and Yamatonokami see each other. I think Yasu sees him similar to just like. A brother who grew up in a different household y'know. They're both shinsengumi swords but were under different masters and eventually split off so they're... A little estranged.

I think normally kitchen duty is Yasu's least favorite chore... except for when he gets paired up with Souza. They don't really butt heads, and by now they can work together quite efficiently actually! Especially if it's something they've made before, they are just a well-oiled machine.

Yasu and Souza are indeed very very different, but somehow it's in a way that makes them mesh well. But Yasu has no idea how to interact with Souza's brothers. Sayo by himself I think maybe, but Like... Imagining Souza inviting Yasu to eat with them or something... Yasu would get so antsy in the sheer silence and like he's horrible at just friendly small talk so he'd just say something like "so... I heard u almost broke on your mission last week" wanting to start a conversation or something but it just..... 💀

I think for with Souza... Yasu'd be the big spoon (or try). No further comment.

Yasu would be so protective of Souza. Not that he needs it, but he would absolutely square up with anyone who gave him a hard time, especially if Souza didn't seem to be fighting back. (Looking at you Hasebe. (Tho yasu doesn't need a reason to fight Hasebe but u know what I mean))

(Дﾟ≡ﾟДﾟ): When they are surprised by somebody do they physically jump? Scream? 

I think Yuichi is the type to like. jolt a bit and freeze, and go like "Ah..! you scared me!" like he's out of breath LOL And he'll take a minute to recover

(〇o〇；): What is their body language like when they are stressed? Do they try and hide the fact that they are stressed? How do they recover from said stress?

I think it might be hard to determine if Yasu is stressed, or maybe more accurately, hard to tell what kind of stress he's feeling. He's the type whose emotions tend to all get vented out through anger, even if he's anxious or hurting. He deals with this a lot through sparring, but he also tends to just... lash out and be more combative than usual. (I always imagine Yasu and Hasebe especially butting heads a LOT, even when Yasu isn't necessarily under a particular stress. Like... I can see them straight up fighting LOL. but I also think that since they fight so often, Hasebe might get to where he could notice something different about it, and after getting over his pride(?) maybe try and check on him. And I think in some weird way the fact that Hasebe could engage with him in a similar fiery manner might make Yasu respect him more??) anyway, to recover, he definitely needs to tire himself out. maybe go drink with jirou & tarou (i like to imagine they kind of adopt yasu as a younger brother, and he can just go lay around in their room when he needs to deflate some), or get something sweet to eat. He might also spend some time by himself on the roof, or practice dancing in his room or something
