In the fallout from learning about Essek’s betrayal, Caleb wrestles with his own feelings, and Essek assumes that any chance he might have had has vanished. Bellesta Theylss isn’t sure what she thinks of this scruffy Empire wizard one of her two favourite nephews is pining for but she knows that she needs him to keep Essek from losing his way again. She gives Caleb a little nudge not to shut the Shadowhand out and it’s amazing what fifty words a night can build between two traumatised wizards with trust issues.

7. Adopted Pets Together

obviously shadowgast gets cats. they become the Cat Couple (rip fjord). i kind of really like the idea of beauyasha with a husky. and i could also see beaujes with dogs! heck, give me bashter raising huskies; that’d be sooOOO cute. and aww, jester/calianna getting like a little newt would be adorable

...jestermauk ends up with either a fox or a raccoon they rescued as a baby. just,, some weird woodland critter associated with trickery, because it suits them.

14. One person steals the other’s person’s sweaters

molly and jester are serial clothes thieves who catch each other wearing one of the other’s coats or sweaters at the same time and become the spiderman pointing meme. also i like to imagine essek stealing caleb’s sweaters a lot except sometimes he’s sneaky about it by he wearing his mantle over it

How I feel about this character: honestly one of the most relatable characters i’ve seen in a long time? the Gifted Kid Burnout vibes are real, and while i don’t really have the spoons to do so atm essek means a lot to me as a neurodivergent person who grew up a “savant” and a “gifted kid”. but as for essek himself? i love his character, i love the way he’s slowly accepted over time that the mighty nein are his friends, and then the heartbreak that comes with betraying your friends before you even know them.....oof. essek is very compelling to me and i hope he gets a redemption arc and travels alongside the m9, righting all his wrongs and leaving the world better than he found it

All the people I ship romantically with this character: CALEB but also molly and artagan (apparently i like shipping the archfey with the purple bastards)

My non-romantic OTP for this character: essek and jester’s friendship is so good. so good. she gave him a parasol you guys ;~;

My unpopular opinion about this character: essek didn’t start the war on his own; his actions were just the catalyst? he absolutely did do some very bad things but he also wasn’t the sole cause of the war; matt did emphasize that it was long brewing for quite some time before essek ever did his thing.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: redemption arc and adventuring alongside the m9 blease,,,,,,
