There's just something about Haechan and his attitude towards his career that makes you want to root for him.

He debuted at 16. He wasn't as famous as the rest of the group then. He was the youngest. He's yet to establish his role in NCT. He even admitted recently that during the early days of NCT, he was just happy to be there.

He's extremely talented. Despite that, he went through comebacks where he has little to no lines in songs, and barely any exposure in their choreographies, especially in 127. He was a vital part of Dream, tho, so it was bearable.

Heachan being reassigned as a main vocalist in 127 and debuting in an NCT U vocal group with a YYJ ballad was just a thing waiting to happen. He's born to be a singer. His parents are both musically-inclined. He grew up with respected musical influences that shaped his identity. He's also a great dancer with technical training pre-debut, and he was the best rapper among his fellow trainees during their training period. It's just natural that with time, he'll get recognized for his talents.

That said, the time came earlier because Haechan, aside from being naturally gifted, is also a hardworker. This shows whenever he's in a recording studio, during dance practices, or when they're shooting their music videos.

According to their producers, Haechan is usually the Neo who finishes recording in the shortest span of time. That makes sense because he enters the studio having figured out what to do with his parts.

Haechan is very goofy and playful most of the time, but the shift in attitude whenever he enters the recording booth is undeniable. You'll really find him the most serious when he is recording.

He records his parts knowing what he already wants to do with them. It's actually rare to see him ask the producers what he's going to do with his parts. He'd rather ask for opinion about a change he wants to do to his part which I think speaks volumes about him as an artist.

This also reflects on his dream as a singer-songwriter. He's a very goal-oriented person who knows what he has to do to succeed. He's very proactive about a future solo career that I just wish SM would give him more oportunities to grow individually. So far, he only has one OST to his name. It's a good thing that he released 2 of the songs he made during The Link concerts, but I hope in the near future, they will be available on music platforms. The songs deserve to be heard by more people.

He's also very diligent about dancing. He's trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and sports dance. I bet it was hard to incorporate a more ballet/contemporary training in kpop compared to a more urban hiphop training but he made it work beautifully.

He is also one of the members who easily memorizes choreographies. Although he's in three active units, meaning he has more choreographies to remember, he doesn't slack off. He's one of the Neos that the mebers go to when recalling choreographies.

He's also seen in a lot of their music video shoots practicing the dance steps during his free time. With a schedule as grueling as his, he might not have the time to practice as much as the rest of the group is. His dedication to his craft is immense because you will never catch him slacking off despite this.

I'm aware that for some, recording seriously and practicing choreographies during your free time might be a bare minimum, but to me, it speaks about his work ethics and his whole perspective about his career.

He's relatively one of the most successful members of NCT at this point, just basing on the fact that from an average member, he's carved a place in the group that only he can fill. He's also built and grew a stable fandom even though he only had opportunities for solo promotions in 2022. He's one of the most popular now (and his selling power good lord). All these and he remains humble (that sometimes I just want him to be more vocal about his achievements cos I always get the urge to push him to the mic and give a speech whenever they win on music shows). He works just as hard, if not harder, as when he was a trainee.

He's such a great person to root for and look up to, and he's inspired me to work harder for myself in more ways than one. 🧡

Y/N sighed as she saved the image via screenshot. Was it weird to save an image of just a normal, everyday guy on Instagram? Probably. But he was just so unbelievably handsome and funny and talented, how could she not? Lee Felix was a full time employee at Beautiful Blossoms flower shop and probably one of the most hardworking people there. 

While his influence was small, he still had a large hand in how popular the shop became. Just a simple scroll through his profile opens a person up to the beauty of floral design - an art really that required a certain set of skills, all of which Felix seemed to be the master of. She found herself to be one of the thousands of people who fell down the rabbit hole of Lee Felix. Like and commenting on all his posts and even attending every Instagram live he did. 

She was, in essence, a hopelessly in love fangirl that was actually too shy to see him in real life. The fact she could easily Felix was terrifying to her. The flower shop was only a fifteen minute walk from her house, in the direction of her school.  Feasibly she could pass by it every day if she wanted. But she didn’t, and it wasn’t for her lack of trying. The last time she attempted to visit the beautiful man, she was greeted with a large crowd of pushy females, all vying for the chance to get inside the shop, waste their money on flowers they didn’t even want and hopefully slip their number to the handsome worker. It had been a nightmare, and she had vowed to never attempt to go there ever again (even if she really wanted to).

And for the past five months she had kept that promise, taking alternate routes to get to and from school. But today - today just wasn’t her day. Her alarms never woke her up because the power had gone off sometime that morning. She had forgotten to plug her phone in to charge that night and woke up to a battery that was 15% and only 10 minutes to get ready before she needed to leave the house in order to get to school on time. But that would mean she would have to skip every part of her morning routine and if there was one thing that she wasn’t going to do, it was skip breakfast. 

Locking her phone, she slipped it into her pocket as she continued down the sidewalk, cursing herself mentally at knowing she was going to be passing the shop soon. She couldn’t afford to take her normal route - it was too far out of the way. Her mind raced with a thousand thoughts, trying to work out different scenarios in her head of how she would avoid the crowd. Should she cross to the other side of the street? Or maybe skirt around the edge of the crowd and pray a car won’t come speeding down the road and hit her? 

Or she could just be rude and force herself through the crowd? No, she couldn’t do that. She wasn’t that mean of a person. Letting out a heavy sigh, she decided that skirting around the crowd was probably the best option. Bracing herself, she turned down the street and was ready to be bombarded with high pitched squealing, but she was greeted with silence. Looking around, she noted how calm and quiet and the sidewalk was. It was empty with the exception of herself and a business man walking a few feet ahead of her.

How odd.

Approaching the flower shop, she hesitated - eyes moving to glance inside. The lights were on, there were people inside but no crazy crowds. What happened? As curious as she was though, she just didn’t have the time to investigate. She was really going to be late and her parents would absolutely kill her if she got detention for it. Shaking her head, she started walking when the bell to the flower shop rang behind her and a voice called out to her. 

“Wait!”

Stopping, she turned to look over her shoulder and nearly tripped over her own feet. Staring at her was the very man she had been staring at on Instagram not five minutes ago. Straightening herself, she pointed to herself after giving a quick look around the area. 

“Yeah, you.” Felix laughed as he strolled over to her, a wide smile on his face. In his hand was a single yellow rose and once close enough, he held it out to her. “Happy National Flower Day.” 

She stared at the rose long and hard, trying to determine if this was some sort of crazy hallucination or something. “Uh...”

“Do you not like roses? I could get you a different flower.” Felix offered and she shook her head quickly, taking the rose from his grasp. 

“No I love roses! Thank you.” She said, bowing politely to him. His reply of no problem fell onto deaf ears as she turned and walked away quickly, cheeks ablaze with a bright flush.

She managed to get to school with a minute to spare, rushing to her first class before the bell rang. She couldn’t focus, however, on school. She was more focused on the rose in her hand and Felix, the bright smiling florist that had given it to her because it was national flower day. She has never heard of such a thing, but it probably existed. She was still in shock that she actually got to meet and talk to him. It felt like a dream come true and it was, but she couldn’t help but feel a little weird about the situation. She wasn’t exactly sure why, but something just didn’t sit right with her.  

It wasn't until she was on her way home that she finally realized what was giving her such a bad feeling. She had received such a precious - even though a simple flower, it meant so much to her because Felix had given it to her. No he didn't know her and probably didn't know she followed him on Instagram, but nonetheless he had given her a rose, an extension of himself. And the reason she was feeling bad is because she hadn't given him anything in return and she wanted to. She wanted to return his generosity, and as she passed by the local craft store, she got a brilliant idea. After all, it was national flower day.

Fifteen minutes later, she emerged from the craft store with a completed project and left over supplies that she had no choice but to take home with her. Her pace was quick, excitement coursing through her at the thought of giving Felix her gift. Butterflies made themselves known in her stomach as she approached the flower shop, and just like that morning, it wasn't busy at all. The only difference is that Felix was standing outside, a basket of roses on one arm and a warm smile greeting anyone who walked by and spared him a glance. For a moment, she thought about aborting her mission, turning around and running away, and she was very close to following through with thought when her eyes connected with Felix.

Crap! He saw her! Well now she certainly couldn't run away and look like a complete fool in front of her Instagram idol/crush. So she did the only thing she could do. She took a deep breath and walked over to him, trying to convey confidence that she didn't even have.

"Hello again." he greeted, voice smooth like honey with a hint of deepness that left she wanting to hear more. 

"Hi." she greeted, a small smile on her lips. Reaching into the bag she was carrying, she pulled out her handmade flower crown adorned with small white roses, a white feather and a few other things she had managed to find in the store. It wasn't perfect by any means, but she was proud of her creation and she was praying that Felix would like it as well. "Happy National Flower Day." Presenting the crown to him, she waited for his reaction, eyes trained on his face and watching for any signs of unhappiness. Thankfully, there was none and when he bent down slightly, she took a step forward and placed the crown carefully on top of his soft, fluffy blond head.

"Thank you, it's beautiful." he said.

"You're welcome! Every flower boy should have his very own flower crown." she told him with a nod.

"Ah true. And now I have my very own, made by..." he trailed off and she flushed, getting the hint rather quickly.

"Y/n! My name is Y/n." she introduced herself, bowing to him again.

"Ah, the pleasure is all mine Y/n. I'm Fel-"

"Felix! Yes I know!" 

"You do?" The surprise was evident and she scolded herself for just exposing herself like that. But it was too late to take it back now. So she simply nodded and offered a soft smile. "Twitter or Instagram?"

"You have a Twitter?" she asked, eyes widening.

"Instagram then." Felix concluded with a laugh. "Well then Y/n, on my next post, tag yourself as 'flower crown girl' and I'll be sure to follow you."

"Really?" She was tempted to pinch herself because sure this was a dream. Felix offering to follow her? A nobody? What could she possibly have to offer him other than boring posts about the weather? 

"Yeah."

"Okay." she agreed, rather easily too. If this wasn't a dream, she certainly couldn't just let this opportunity pass by. That would just be stupid. "I will. Uh, I should get going though."

"Alright, have a wonderful evening, Y/n. Get home safely."

With a few shaky nods, she found herself once more scurrying away with a bright flush on her cheeks - mind reeling from the events that just took place. She spent the next few hours trying to process and understand everything that had happened, but was still in denial that it even happened. That was, until she got a notification that Felix and posted on Instagram.

Choi Si Won Is One Funny Con Man In 'My Fellow Citizens'

Chronologically Choi Si Won is an actor who sings, rather than an idol who acts. The talented singer, songwriter and dancer appeared in the dramas Precious Family, Eighteen: Twenty Nine, and Spring Waltz, before he debuted as a member of the k-pop band Super Junior. Yet it took more than a decade for k-drama viewers to recognize just how funny the actor could be.

There’s no longer any doubt about the actor’s comedic skills, given his last few successful dramas and his current role as a third-generation con man in My Fellow Citizens.

Although Choi’s character, Yang Jung Kook, is committed to a life of crime, as a lucrative family tradition, he somehow winds up marrying a police officer. It only works because neither spouse knows what the other spouse actually does during the day. Choi’s fictional wife, played by Lee Yoo Young, thinks he’s a businessman, working in his family’s business, which is almost true. He thinks she has a desk job and doesn’t pursue criminals, which is almost true. He doesn’t know she worked as a detective in the violent crimes unit, but asked for a transfer when she heard men don’t date female detectives.

The desk job is too boring so she secretly transfers again, but this time she transfers to the police department her husband fears the most, the one dedicated to catching white collar criminals. Conflict is inevitable, but that might not be a bad thing. While she may eventually have to handcuff him, keeping secrets has not been good for their marriage.

My Fellow Citizens is the third in a series of standout comedy roles for Choi. His natural comedic flair won praise in She’s Pretty, which co-starred Park Seo Joon and Hwang Jung Eum. In that comedy he played a fashion magazine editor who falls for Hwang Jung Eum’s unique charms when no one else recognizes them. He takes one look at her white socks, worn with black shoes, thinks she’s purposely channeling Michael Jackson’s unique style, and decides to call her “Jackson.” For many viewers, his portrayal of the easygoing, eccentric editor was a breakout performance.

According to Korea’s Joongang Daily, it was the role that established him as an actor rather than an idol-actor, even though he was technically an actor first. In an interview with Joongang Daily, Choi Si Won said that his previous roles limited him and in order to break free from such limitations, he explored comical characters. It was a smart move.

After She’s Pretty, he enlisted for his two-year mandatory military duty, which is required of all able-bodied Korean males between the ages of 18 and 35. After his release in 2017, the actor promptly appeared in the drama Revolutionary Love, playing an unemployed third-generation heir, who develops some revolutionary ideas because of his love for a hardworking young woman, played by Kang So Ra. His “revolutionary” ideas about treating workers equitably do not appeal to his fictional moneyed family. The drama was popular not only because it mirrored the struggles and aspirations of many young Koreans, but much of the appeal was due to Choi’s self-deprecating performance as an entitled heir. In real-life, Choi comes from a well-to-do family, but he has supported himself since being discovered by a talent agent at the age of 16.

Choi also did a brief comic turn in the English language production Dramaworld, financed by the online video streaming site, Viki.com. Dramaworld laughingly played up all the tropes that exist in dramas. In his brief appearance, Choi is hit by a car and in a classic K-drama trope, wakes up to fall-in-love-at-first-sight with the heroine before being whisked out of the plot. With just a few of his signature facial expressions, he makes a lasting impression.

Choi might not limit himself to comedy roles in the future, but he’s created some memorable comic characters, including one very funny con man in My Fellow Citizens.

YUANFEN FEST ROUND 1: REVEALS + FINAL NOTES

The Baeksoo party has finally come to an end but don't you worry, the fun is not yet over because there are still lovely fics for you to catch up with and come back to :> That being said, we want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us and participating in this fest, may you be a prompter, writer, or reader! This fest wouldn't have been possible in the first place if not for you. We would give the spotlight now to our writers as we unveil who they are but before anything else, here are some words from our mods:

MOD MOCHI

Somehow, It only feels like yesterday when two of my fellow Baeksooies came into my DMs and told me about the apparent lack of Baeksoo fics in the EXO ficdom. I vividly all the times we complained because we’re craving for more until finally, we decided to simply take a leap of faith and create our own Baeksoo-centric fic ourselves. It was the epitome of a “Fuck, I’ll do it myself” situation because we knew our complaints would reach nothing if we don’t do our part in helping resolve the situation.

A week after, we decided to meet up and discuss this concept further in person. Believe it or not, I actually made a presentation/pitch deck about the fest, featuring a complete list of our objectives, content execution, and promotional strategy. We wanted to treat it as a passion project, as our little baby we would nurture months later on because aside from bringing new Baeksoo fanworks, we wanted to help bring the ‘community’ together.

Fast-forward to six months later and here we are now. It hasn’t been an easy journey for anyone, but it’s what makes this whole thing worth it because despite the difficulties that came along the way, you guys stuck by our side ‘til the end. And for that, we couldn’t be any more thankful.

To our prompters: thank you for your creativity and enthusiasm in participating in this fest. You all gave our writers gems to work with; this fest wouldn’t have been able to move forward if not for your participation.

To our very talented writers: thank you so, so much for sharing your talents with all of us. We know writing fic isn’t that easy especially when you’re bounded by deadlines (+ real life responsibilities) but you guys pulled through and made it! I hope you are all as proud of your works as much as we are. It is very interesting to see Baeksoo and the extension of their dynamics through a different set of eyes in every fic that was submitted to this fest, but the feeling of joy that each one gives is all the same. Thank you for making us fall in love with this pairing a hundred times and more, all over again.

Happy Birthday, Hobi☀️

I know this is just the birthday of an idol, and everyone around me should think I’m crazy for being so happy, excited and emotional for it, but for me, Hoseok isn’t just an idol, he changed my life in so many ways and I’m so grateful, that I feel like the least I can do is writo how much I love him and how much I want him to be happy in this day and forever. Yes, he will never read this and yes, he is going to get big presents, and celebrate with armys in Seoul today, but I’m going to do it anyway.

Jung Hoseok, my sun, the light of my life; he have the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen, just smiling he can light up the whole world and unexpectedly in a dark time of mine, he light up mine world too. Hobi is capable of that, he can fill lives with energy, he can make you think that still exist beauty in this world and that happier times will come. His laugh can make you laugh immediately, he aura is contagious, is imposible not to forget about bad things when you watch a video of him, or even a picture. That’s just who he is, a unique angelic person.

I love Hoseok, I fucking love Hoseok, he gives me life, he gives me the energy I need everyday, God, he gives me hope. Everybody says he is the hope of BTS, and yes, it’s true, he is the hope of BTS, he is the hope of ARMYs, he is my hope, the hope I needed. He owns a big part of my heart and every army will understand what I’m saying, is imposible not to fall in love with him and his precious soul.

All I want in life is to see him someday and thank him, tell him how grateful I am, and watch his smile, a smile for me.

God, he deserves the world, he is one of the seven reasons I believe in humanity again.
