Danny Phantom AU different types of half-ghosts
In folklores, religions, and mythologies alike there have been beings who are half human and half... something else. In the canon of Danny Phantom some of these Something Elses have been confirmed to be ghosts, such as the Greek Hellenistic pantheon. Which leads to the question if these half human figures and creatures from myth, religion and folklore could theoretically exist.
Specifically I’m talking about Cambions, Dhampirs, and Demigods. Possibly others if you can think of any.
Cambions are the children of a human woman and a demon (typically an incubus), a famous one would be Merlin from the stories of King Arthur. They seem to usually be capable of some type of magic, and are often conflated with Changelings.
Dhampirs are the children of (typically) a human woman and a male vampire. They also seem to usually be capable of some type of magic. Along with other strange powers and features (some of which sound strangely applicable to Danny). Like being able to sense supernatural creatures with in a certain range, acute sight and hearing, regenerative abilities, immortality, control animals, and walk in sunlight. They don’t need human blood to sustain themselves unlike their vampiric parent. Common features is that they tend to have dark black hair, and lack a shadow, and sometimes seem as if they have no bones. Dhampirs are also known for their tendency to grow up to be hunters of the supernatural, and often vampires specifically.
Demi-gods/goddesses are the offspring of a human and a god, typically from the Hellenistic Greek pantheon, or the Roman Pantheon of gods/goddesses. They can often also be found in other mythologies and religious, but the Hellenistic Greeks and Romans seem to be the most prolific. The vast majority of Demi-gods/goddesses tend to only have one or two inhuman abilities/traits, if they have one at all. There are ones who have a number of Devine traits, but those are often extra blessings, and not innately born to the child in question. The only real exceptions being when said Demi-god/goddess turns out to be more godly than mortal, such as the case with Heracles who later ascended to Godhood. That guy was supernaturally strong and durable. Durability being an unusual trait among the greek/roman demi-gods outside of them bathing in the Styx river.
So yeah, I love the idea that no one in the Ghost Zone is terribly surprised by Vlad and Danny’s existence because there’s always been half-ghosts around, even if they tended to go by different names, they’re just a lot less common now. A lot of people are Christian now and very few believe in things like ghosts, vampires, and other spooks. So not many people are down to get into bed with glowing quasi magical beings from another dimension anymore. Their kind was much more common when the world was primarily Pagan, and everyone was sorta down to hope into bed with a sexy vampire, or a god, or a hot fairy. They had no TV, or organized sports, or anything to really do other than work back before like the 1600s unless you were somewhat wealthy, or there was an execution going on. Most people were down for nekkid fun with supernatural beings when they offered it.

Because I’m Boat today and can’t reply to @virtuousia’s Viking starter, here’s a little headcanon post about what this lady would be like in that world!
Firstly her name; it’s not Zelda! It’s not Griselda/Grishildir even remotely.
It’s Yrsa. And she’s a berserker.
She used to be a promising young retainer in service to the Royal Family, with a keen mind for strategy and a knack for picking up new forms of combat training rather quickly. It was thought that she had a bright future ahead of her, commanding the Royal Honor Guard.
But during her first real engagement, the Berserk woke in her, and she went mad with bear-fury, tearing into both friend and foe alike until her rage was exhausted.
Displaying a trait affiliated with the rogue Viking tribes was obviously a big no-no, and she was stripped of her sword and Banished from polite society. Now, she’s become the rough equivalent of a hermit, wandering the snowy wastes, doing her best to survive, and to keep herself from losing control. I’d imagine she’s the equivalent of a skógarmaðr; a full-ass outlaw, and that murdering her ass would be perfectly legal. Would possibly even be smiled upon. I dunno, Viking outlawrey is a Thing, but I’m not sure how it would work in this setting.
She’s a little older in this AU; mid twenties, probably. You can probably catch her wielding an axe, that being a cheaper and more easily obtainable weapon, along with shield and bow, when it’s necessary to strike from a distance.
She has to do her best to keep her emotions level, because really anything that heightens them can set off a round of the Berserk, though fear and anger are the biggest culprits. She will go into a full-ass, roaring like a bear and foaming at the mouth, chewing on the edge of her shield frenzy, shrugging off wounds and pain and making no distinction between friend and foe. In the wake of her rage, she’s left exhausted and feverish for a day or two.
She considers her rage to be... sort of a curse; she doesn’t like it or want it around, and if she could get rid of it, she would, at this point.
We’ll see how she feels about it later if she ever gets a handle on it!
#ooc#headcanonstuff#I don’t know how to pronounce ‘Yrsa’#I assume it’s... something like ‘Yeer-sa?’#please help me fix if you know how Old Norse works!

In Hyrule, “Renn” is a gender neutral title equivalent to Lord or Lady. It’s suitable for nonbinary nobility! It’s derived from the word “Honorable.”

[[Actually, I think the Gerudo having cats at the fortress would make a lot of sense. Cats are desert-adapted animals, and they typically get all of the moisture they need from their prey. They can rehydrate by drinking seawater, and wildcats actually rarely drink.
Wikipedia links to a source that says that a cat's skin has to get up to 126 degrees before they get uncomfortable, so they can take the heat too.
Plus, they eat varmints that would destroy food supplies. When you have limited resources, that’s a good thing.
So having working kitties who keep pests away from food supplies would make a whole lot of sense to me.]]

naoto for the chara headcanon meme c:
2-4 songs that are probably on their iPod
instrumentals. they help him think when he's working. a lot of it is music scores or ambient spa type things, chosen not so much for being immediately appealing "I want to listen to it" music and more for serving the purpose of being non-interfering background noise. otherwise it's kinda coffee shop acoustics soft stuff.
the one place they sometimes end up falling asleep — where they’re not supposed to
he gets really irritated when he falls asleep at his desk because now he has to remember what he was working on and besides that is SO unprofessional.
the game they’d destroy everyone else at
kanji convinced him to play pokemon and after getting halfway through the story naoto was all about the metagame, breeding for perfect IVs and movesets and trying to come up with unusual strategies that wouldn't be too gimmicky and reliant on one set of circumstances but would have some flexibility to deal with threats in unanticipated ways. he would have caught onto swagkey playstyle early on, as part of his goal to avoid all the usual metagame suspects for less conventional team members. and then once he perfected his breeding approach he then presented kanji with a flawless IV shiny houndour. (they love playing pokemon together, since naoto's so often away for work, but they can connect and trade and stuff even if kanji doesn't do any of the competitive things the way naoto does.) a lot of naoto's wifi pokemon matches end with mysterious communication disruptions from his opponents just as his battle plan has revved into gear.
the emoticon they’d use most often
what are emoticons and for that matter what are punctuation marks caps lock always engaged this is serious communication happening here
what they act like when they haven’t had enough sleep
prickly, very prickly. he doesn't like relying on caffeine boosts when he hasn't slept well because he's too mindful of the resulting caffeine crash, and that crash is far more uncomfortable to him than to just be overtired for a while.
their preferred hot beverage on really cold nights. or mornings. or whenever.
earl grey with milk, honey, and a touch of lemon.
how they like to comfort/care for themselves when they’re in a slump
he has a tendency to try to handle it all on his own, because he still worries about his place among the team and whether any of his failings are understandable. mostly he wraps up in a blanket and devours a book until he's feeling less awful.
what they wanted to be when they grew up
keeping the shirogane legacy of detective work alive has always been his dream, and he feels like he's doing okay, but with a lot of room to keep improving until he feels he deserves it.
their favorite kind of weather
it used to be a cool rainy day, the kind that would be nice to spend wrapped up working inside or reading a book, but it's a bit understandable that rainy nights are a bit too unsettling anymore. breezy spring days when the air has just a touch of chill are his favorite to enjoy outdoors. he's getting fond of snow, moreso when he's in his own boots and not skis or skates or anything else that calls into question his tenuous connection with stability.
thoughts on their singing voice (decent? terrible? soprano? alto?)
he's very self conscious about it and tends to not sing, at all, where anyone could hear him.
how/what they like to draw or doodle
he practices by people-watching and making sketches, trying to get in as many details as he can from brief glimpses. he also goes to zoos to work on it there with animal anatomy as well as zoo visitors. his motivation was to do better for his detective work sketches, but he's come to enjoy it just on its own merits, too.

Because Kirinite bones are rock-like with crystalline marrow, they tend to decay super slowly. If you ever come across a seemingly pristine Kirinite bone, it’s likely to be hundreds of years old.

Some specific geographic headcanon guidelines for the Downfall Timeline include…
Kokiri Forest – The forest actually suffered a lot of infrastructure damage from monster attacks, and the trees were barren for quite some time. Fortunately, the establishment of contact between the resident Kokiri and the outside world, following the sealing of Ganon and the Triforce, means that there is plenty of help to be had rebuilding child-sized infrastructure and removing monsters. The trees have begun to recover as well, bearing more and larger fruit and regaining their green foliage.
Lost Woods – More sinister and winding than ever before. The very trees and branches seem to reach out, now, trying to snag and strangle any visitors, Kokiri or otherwise, who dare to enter. Even the resident Skull Kids are beginning to feel the labyrinth’s wrath, with many emerging from the dense thickets, and taking shelter with the Kokiri instead. It is highly recommended that one does not enter, unless they are in the company of one of the Sages, or another particularly powerful magic-user.
Death Mountain – Nearly erupted under Volvagia’s onslaught, but fortunately, Link. Still, many smaller magma plumes breached the surface during the battle, so the topography of the area has changed a lot. It’s not dangerous anymore, but it is different.
Goron City – Some of those magma plumes burst out and flowed through the city; not so much a problem for lava-proof Gorons. More for their Bomb Flower crops, which, err… there were a lot of rockfalls. The city is in rough shape in more of a topographical sense; new rock formations caused by lava flowing through the city, fallen rock from the cavern roofs, etc. The Gorons, fortunately, ever resilient and cheery people, can see the silver lining of this, and are working to turn the new features into helpful or fun things.
Dodongo’s Cavern – Much the same as Goron City; there are new structures here, caused by pyroclastic flows and rockfalls, but it’s largely unchanged, and the creatures making their home there don’t seem to mind the new topography much.
Zora’s River – The flash-flooding common to the river due to rapid, erratic snow and ice melt in Zora’s Fountain is beginning to taper off, with the Domain and Fountain thawed and no longer freezing over. The ecosystem has shifted toward something more lotic than lentic, with monsters such as aquatic Deku Babas taking over from the free-floating Octoroks that had previously been buzzing about in the slower flow.
Zora’s Domain – Still recovering from being frozen; a lot of the wildlife was not happy with the drop in temperature, so the Zoras are finding themselves having to basically rewire the ecosystem from Step One. Fortunately, Lakeside Laboratory’s Professor is quite knowledgeable when it comes to aquatic species, and is helping to kick-start the process. The rocks have been broken in some places by the freezing water that seeped into them, but physical damages were kept to a minimum by the nature of the area.
Zora’s Fountain – Also recovering from very cold temperatures. Many of the same problems as the Domain, as well as fewer pulsed water events; the Fountain no longer freezes and thaws in unpredictable cycles, rendering Gerudo Valley and Zora’s River less prone to flash-flooding than they have been.
Lake Hylia – Remains largely unchanged, thank goodness. The lake is still full of clear, pure water, and now that the level has returned to normal, it’s a good reservoir for the thirsty populace.
Gerudo Valley – The bridge has been rebuilt, and the transport of supplies to the Fortress can now continue. It’s a nice change, being able to get wagons across again; the bucket-and-pulley system previously used did not work so well. The gorge is also less prone to flash-flooding now that Zora’s Fountain has stopped the rapid freeze-thaw cycle started by warring magical energies.
Haunted Wasteland – Not much has changed in terms of climate and harshness, but it is, like the rest of Hyrule, subject to more frequent monster. The main focus for the Gerudo, and any other defenders who choose to step into the fray, is preventing the larger, more dangerous creatures, such as venomous or fire-breathing beasts, from reaching the Fortress and wreaking havoc.
Castle Town Ruins – Battered and smashed from the final battle between the three wielders of the Triforce, Castle Town and Hyrule Castle itself have suffered quite a lot of damage over the seven-year time period, especially after the rampage of an enhanced Ganon, powered by the entirety of the Triforce. Now blighted by dark magic, and haunted by monsters, mainly undead, the Ruins show no sign of recovery from the choking miasma of death and corruption that covers them, even after several years, and several fruitless applications of purifying Light Magic. The exception is the Temple of Time, which remains both standing, albeit battered, and pure. It serves as a temporary refuge to those trapped in the ruins. The entrance to the Sacred Realm, now the Dark World, is also located here. Zelda has declared the ruins off-limits, unless one is in the company of either herself, or one of the surviving Sheikah.
The reason for the Castle Town Ruins’ continuing corruption and the continued presence of monsters is the energy leaking from the Dark World, which has its entrance in the Temple of Time. It’s not noticeable at first; the Master Sword projects such a strong aura of light as to make it virtually undetectable. But Ganon whispers from his prison inside, the greedy and weak-willed listen, they reach the Dark World, and they are transformed into monsters. The entrance won’t be fully sealed until the Imprisoning War that precedes A Link to the Past. I sorta combined and squished up the backstories a little bit to make it work with both OoT and ALTTP’s canons.
This is currently a secret to everyone in-universe.
Kakariko Village – The new center of Hylian civilization given the state of Castle Town, and the lack of resources to rebuild it, currently. Kakariko still has a fairly small-town atmosphere, but is well on its way to becoming the big city that Impa hired the carpenters to build it into. Zelda currently maintains a residence, here, though she’s rarely actually there. A wall has been built near the entrance to the village proper, and the agricultural fields lie just beyond, easily defensible by the village’s inhabitants. Most residents also tend to avoid the Graveyard during night hours. It’s more of an unwritten rule than an actual edict, though.
Lon Lon Ranch – Also subject to protection by Kakariko’s defenders, given its importance as a food source and in raising horses and other beasts of burden. Also subject to more frequent monster attacks, but between the contribution from Kakariko, and the fed-up ranch residents’ eagerness to strike back against the beasts, it’s… not too much of a problem, generally. Again, the main concern is monsters with additional powers, such as elemental control, or poison.
If your character is tied to one of these areas, and you have some different ideas, then by all means, hit me up! My purpose here is to spur thought as to how your muses would fit into this post-tragedy world I’ve got cranking in my brain, and if you have ideas, I want to hear them!

One small headcanon while we’re still motoring to the first trawl site...
Yes, you COULD say that a Princess’s power is rooted in faith.
But to interpret that as “Pray for your powers to awaken” would... not be the right translation of the word. Which is why it doesn’t work for Breath of the Wild’s princess.
Zeldas are the descendants of a goddess. All that’s left of her, in a roundabout way. To pray to the gods seems... a little bit unnecessarily mastrubatory.
It’s more of a leap of faith; faith in yourself. Knowing exactly who you are and having faith that you, yourself, will be enough.
It’s stepping off the edge of destiny and having faith that you’ve inherited Hylia’s wings, and you won’t fall.
#ooc#headcanonstuff#that got a little purple whoo#it’s as natural as breathing#in that if you think about it too much it becomes hard#but when you don’t and you let it be it just flows#and then you have THIS lady who uhhh#whacked into a few branches on the way down

Go to excessive lengths to obtain support or nurturing from others. They may even volunteer to do unpleasant tasks if they believe that doing so will evoke a positive response from others. They may subject themselves to great personal sacrifice or tolerate physical, verbal, or sexual abuse in their quest to get what they believe they need from others.
Feel helpless when alone. Because they feel incapable of caring for themselves, they experience significant anxiety when alone. To avoid being alone, they may be with people in whom they have little interest.

[[Whatever you do...
...do your best not to think of teeny baby Zelda running in to wake Impa up in the mornings, crawling up onto the bed and bouncing around and climbing all over her and leaning down to whisper in her ear, because Impa it's morning it's time to play now! Get up the sun's up (barely) and it's time to go do things come on!
And then DEFINITELY try not to think of Impa turning the tables on teenage Zelda years later, and stealing her blanket and pillow and shaking the mattress and bodily hauling her unwilling ass out of bed in the mornings, like, get up, Princess, time for training! Let's go, out of bed, right now! Unless you want a bucket of wellwater dumped on your head, that'll wake you right up!
You might die of cute.]]
