Fear is one of the most reoccurring emotion that pops up in my yoga practice, especially with inversions and backbends. It's an emotional reaction that has been the hardest for me to breakdown objectively. Some bits of fear is there for a good reason - it accurately identifies a dangerous situation and prevents us from injuring ourselves. But there are other bits that we have accumulated through direct or indirect experiences that may not have been harmful but were not very pleasurable - and this accumulated fear hold us back more than they serve us. . This pose scares me more than it logically should. There's something about the combination of not being able to see where I would fall backwards and the vulnerable position of the neck. I'm sure my body can handle this pose, even if I did fall, but my mind constantly holds me back from the experience. . By cultivating awareness in our practice, we can slowly start to tune into our inner intelligence - the one that can distinguish danger and illogical fear. Once that voice start vibrating louder, we start to find ourselves in a different equilibrium, one that opens us to possibilities - experience that would not have been possible if we were still lugging around that heavy backpack of past accumulated emotions. . #practiceawareness #practiceyogachangeyourworld . . . . . #invertedbackbend #headstand #backbendheadstand #headstandbackbend #scorpionpose #headstandvariation #upsidedownyogi #yogainversion #inversions #inversionpractice #yogapractice #realyogapractice #yogajourney #yogajournal #ninjayogagoddess #letsheadstand #yogisofig #yogaeveryblessedday #yogalove #yogalife #sirsasana #yogagirl #yogiofig #yogisofinstagram #sgyoga #sgyogis
