The closest to DNA that trolls have is a Soul Signature. To many, it appears as a magic circle that many witches and wizards use to conduct magic safely. But because only wizards and witches can summon these Signatures, and many of those weren’t around anymore, it has been written off as fairy tales and superstition to trolls. Then Nadia, The Last Wizard, came along and not only learned how to see any troll’s Soul Signature, but made her own book where she drew many signatures and shows what lines or sigils could identify lineage, personality and even future events. No different to human palm reading.
Nadia had perfected the art of looking at Soul Signatures to look for health issues, debunk royal lineage, determine parentage of lost whelps, fortune telling, so on and so forth. And after Eir’s concerns of little Shakti’s aggression possibly having to do with the Decimaar, Nadia decided to take a closer look at the Signature at home where she could compare to the drawings of old.
Soul Signatures rarely change, and Shakti was still a newborn in the eyes of trollkind, so it stood to reason that it might change as she grew. The changes would be minute, sometimes hard to notice, so she needed to go over the changes carefully. Summoning Shakti’s signature in one hand, she drew it carefully on paper with the other, and once she was finished, she threw open her oldest book to look at one of her most prized finds: Gunmar’s Soul Signature.
She was close enough to grab it during the war, protecting herself from his sword swings once she was spotted. After the fighting, she jotted it down in her book. It’s been something she studied intensely to see if he really was born from a Heartstone (and he was), and where she found proof that the Triumbric Stones were the only things that a Trollhunter would need to ultimately kill him.
She looked over the familiar shape, remembering it well, then looking back to Shakti’s signature. Neither looked anything alike at the first glance, and it was what Nadia suspected. It was going to be a small line here or there that would hold some similarities. Some of Shakti’s inner circles within the signature had thicker lines than she had seen in any other troll, and these did usually mean high aggression. Usually through most of their lives. But she didn’t worry about that, many trolls had bad tempers or short fuses, it was to be expected. Looking back to Gunmar’s signature, she touched it to move her finger along some familiar lines.
Long life, extraordinary strength, above average intelligence, large heart... and there was the influence of Decimaar itself. It was proof of the magic he used to summon it existed within his own soul. The sigil for it had harsh lines, extremely thin ones, a circle within a circle that encompassed--
--wait a minute.
Looking back to Shakti’s signature, to a circular pattern to the right, she locked eyes with it. Right beside the thicker lines of the signature were the thin, harsh lines that were so hard to see at first. Right alongside them. Decimaar was not influencing Shakti’s behavior at all, but having her mother thralled did instill her with more aggression than usual. Nadia checked again and again. This had to be wrong. It had to.
Shakti was not thralled. But having her mother thralled might have made at least Shakti much more aggressive than her siblings. This worried Nadia. She would have to look at everyone’s signatures again at a later date. If one of them ended up enthralled somehow...
Oh, she didn’t want to think of that. Not that Gunmar could use the children to spy on or betray Eir, but that one of the precious little things would never grow into who they were. They’d be a slave, a warm body Gunmar could move like a puppet, see through, talk through, and nothing more. They would never be their own person from birth. The thought broke her heart and boiled her blood.
It would have been unintentional, but if it succeeded how many other expecting trolls, or even trollstone eggs, would have been subjected to this experimentation? Putting her books and drawings away, Nadia made her way back to Eir’s wood to give word of her findings. Her preparations might just be put into action sooner than expected.
Gunmar might have to answer for this.

Headcanon time!
As pertains to this blog. No canon claimed.
Due to being the son of a lineage-less Corrupted Heartstone troll, Bular was not born without his problems. His horns are deformed and uneven (the right side had to be cut short during development to keep it from growing into his face), he was born without ears (and will eventually go deaf, provided he manages to survive to old age), and he’s as sterile as the inside of a bottle of isopropyl alcohol.
Not that he cares about any of that or lets it stop him any.

Hala (30 y.o.) with ceremonial clothing from Duro
Inspired by Armenian clothing
Fun fact, as I said here, one of the most prominent beauty standards for Duros is the shape of the head, so they often wear turbans and add decorations to them, to make their head look bigger and rounder, especially during ceremonies.

Q'Tark Yiqt (she/her)
Once second Padawan of Baheera Lee, she was a Jedi scout, who’s job was roaming the galaxy to find Force-sensitive children, and sometimes bring them to the Temple.
Between her researches, if she had the opportunity, she would go and visit her tribe back on Tatooine, and bring them some supplies, like water, food, clothing and stories of her travels.
The jewels on her skirt have symbols that represent the twin Suns of Tatooine, and the long lost flowers of the planet. A gift from her parents.
She had a Padawan, but they died due to an attack they suffered during a diplomatic mission. The two of them were sent there by the Senate to try and stop a Civil War with negotiations, but unfortunately due to the attack it did not work out. Both factions of the planet refused any more interventions from the Republic, and so Q’Tark was sent away, with the war lasting a whole year.
She never took on a new Padawan.
When the Clone Wars began she took on the role of General like most of her lineage, and with clone Commander Theo, she led the 149th Attack Battalion.
She died during Order 66, while leading her troopers, who turned on her and shoot her in the back.

Baheera in her Archivist robes.
Ready to keep alive and safe the ancient knowledge stored in the Temple while also chasing away the padawans who think making out in the library is a good idea.

Kai Norora (he/him)
First Padawan of Baheera, the dear Kai is a scaredy cat.
During the first years of his Padawanship he had a lot of problems talking to strangers.
It became a problem especially during diplomatic missions, where Baheera would be the only one to do all the talking, and if anyone ever tried to ask a question to Kai he would just look away and stay silent.
Also, when he was still small enough to do so, he would often hide under Baheera’s cloak to prevent others from talking to him. When he was 14 he started to become far too big to do so, but luckily he had started to feel more confident in himself and had less problems interacting with strangers.

I swear that I WILL draw her better.
I still need to get reused to draw digitally, plus I wanted to talk about her a bit and give some general infos, so for now she will look like this:
Tumblr media
This is Baheera Lee. (respectively 14 y.o. - 34 y.o. - 75y.o.)
A human jedi master, once Padawan of Ki-Adi Mundi, who worked for most of her knighthood in the Archives, a job she had to drop when she took on a Padawan, but after she was knighted she went back there almost immeadiatly.
The jewelry on her forehead was a gift from her master for her knighting.
She spent most of her life as a Jedi Master writing books, with a total of 35 done before her death.
She wrote both philosophical and children's books, some of her most famous titles were:
"To love everyone and no one: Love through the eyes of the Jedi" a book that sprouted controversy, used by many that had not actually understood what she had written as "proof" that the Jedi were unfeeling beings.
"The little grandpa in the garden" (totally not dedicated to Master Yoda).
"The Tooka who wanted to sing"
"The Little Padawan" a book in honor of her friend and peer, Lala Tian, who died at the age of 14, barely 2 years into her padawanship, who always dreamed to explore the whole galaxy.
"What fear does to the heart and mind" another book about Jedi philosophy, that she even teached in some Academies around Coruscant.
"The four Massiffs"
"The grief of the soul"
"Collection of ancient Jedi fables" written with the help of roughly 50 jedi.
"Don't give the Porg a cup of Caf"
"There's no glory in war, only tears" was her last book, which she published near the end of the war.
Unlike the other Jedi she did not partecipate in the war as a General, preferring to help on humanitarian or rescue missions.
Sometimes she would help alongside her old Master's battalion, interacting with the Clones, and starting to advocate for their independency in her Academic sittings.
She died during Order 66, she had been reading a fairytale to three younglings who couldn't sleep that night, because of the nightmares, when a group of Clones entered the Creche and shooted her, before she could even react.

POV you’re getting your ass beaten by a thief and you ask for help to the two Jedi you called freaks less than 10 minutes ago
They’re gonna help, and then laugh about you with their friends on a holocall

Hala Tao-Ni (she/her - 65 y.o)
Second apprentice of Ki-Adi Mundi, and Padawan sibling of Baheera Lee.
Despite her calm and collected nature she managed to get three equally troublesome Padawans, and the stress led her to start the bad habit of smoking a pipe, that she then trasformed in a form of art, using the colored smoke and the Force to create shapes to entertain others.
After the knighting of her third Padawan, she became a full-time crèche master, mostly taking care of the infants, since, because of her old age, she doesn't exactly have the strenght to follow toddlers running around.
