It’s been four months (and a few days) since this sassy little thing fell into her forever sleep on my chest at 3:34am. Four months of missing her every day, and wishing I could have her back. I miss all four of the hogs I lost that day, but Hedwig... she was the hardest loss of the lot. I will forever miss how she tooted whenever she was held. I will forever miss how she always made a mess everywhere she went. I will forever miss how she gave in to belly rubs after a bath. I will forever miss how she huffed when I would kiss her but she wouldn’t run away. I will forever miss how viciously she would attack her prey (worms) and eat them instantly. Hedwig was and will always be a special bean in my heart. She was a unique personality, as they we’ll are, but I found her to be so wonderfully comical. She was my sassy little snowball of hate. She will never be replaced, even with all the albinos in the world. She will always have a huge chunk of my heart. I miss her every single day. Not a single day goes by where I don’t think of her... Hedwig had “scary” eyes. Hedwig has “ghost-like” quills. Hedwig had “creepy” vampire teeth. Yet, Hedwig was so amusing to me. Hedwig’s eyes were spectacular. @ssserpentes / @ssuthershots took a macro shot of her eye once, and it was incredible. Her quills, despite how white she was, were always dirty. She was just a little pig. Her teeth were excellent for devouring her fatty, juicy worms that she loved so much. Hedwig was far from creepy. She was sassy, funny, adorable, gassy as heck, and just in general, a hoot to be around. Even though I posted her so rarely, she was still one of my favourites. She just was much harder to photograph because she often turned into just a big white blob. Hedwig was my “problem” child. She always seemed to have something going on. Whether it was digestive issues, or random scabs that showed up on her back, or tipping her water dish over and pooping in it, etc. She was always doing something to scare me. Hedwig was honestly hilarious. She would put on this tough facade, yet she loved belly rubs, loved sharing my own, personal treats, loved her little snoot-boop kisses. Hedwig stole my heart the moment I met her. @nathalia_nor had notified me of her availability and I just had to meet her. I quickly made sure I adopted her. When I brought her home, she loved to snuggle. She was always so sweet. And ironically, she was the cleanest of the four I had at the time. When I adopted @dukethedogue, her personality changed but her spirit did not. I still tried to take her out as often as I could. I even recorded her in a TikTok video a week before their passing. I really, really loved this hedgehog, and I miss her so immensely. Hedwig was not the hog I thought I would fall for. But... I did. And I will miss her forever... I loved them all and I’m so sad of their passings, but Hedwig was the hardest of the four... Because she fought so hard for those last eight hours... I was forced to cry and tell her repeatedly, “I’m so sorry. I love you so much”. I sat there at 3:34am sobbing as she crossed over... #HedwigHedgie... please know that you stole my heart with you when you went to heaven... 4am and I’m sitting here with Hedwig in my sink, staring at her butt. The things we do for our pets. Little miss gave me quite the scare, by ingesting a thread of some sort. She could use some thoughts / positive vibes for she could still have some in her system. The little stink! She will be given pumpkin to help her get rid of whatever else is in her digestive system, and she will be monitored for the next 24 hours intently. #hedwighedgie
