signalis has one puzzle that i figured out how to solve pretty fast, but because of the way it was set up i had a hard time putting the pieces together. so i pulled an old trick and solved it on a notepad first

the order of the stick is my favorite webcomic but it's so hard to recommend for all the typical long-running webcomic reasons and more. where do i even start

light's death in the manga is so good. it's so cathartic.

the change in the anime was terrible. in the anime he manages to get away and peacefully die in the sun without ever confronting ryuk. it's lame and he didn't deserve it and it's one of many ways the anime changed the story to give him more sympathy

but in the manga? we get to see his entire breakdown, including his shock that ryuk doesn't take his side. he's begging and crying and flailing against a phantom because he can't accept that this is it. that it's over and he lost. it's undignified and inelegant and it exposes light for the self-centered, hypocritical coward he always was at his core. the god of the new world, dying young of a heart attack in a filthy warehouse like he murdered countless others, completely alone and unmourned

this doesn't always bug me but sometimes i get caught up in the anatomy of humanoid characters with weird parts. like, okay, cyclops, what does the skull look like. what's the musculature that supports this four-armed character. how are the wings supported on their back in a way that achieves flight. what is that tail connected to, internally

You know as far as basis for a religion goes heliolatry is probably the most reasonable. Is there anything in the world as consistent, as persistent, as deadly, as life-giving, as intimidating as the sun? Very easy to understand how ancient peoples would want to worship that thing
