I started doing henna 6 years ago when I began brainstorming what kind of fun creative job I wanted and stumbled across a craigslist add for a henna artist! I had only ever done henna once for fun with a friend but as always I was beyond confident in myself and I got the job! I instantly fell in love with henna. Maybe it was the infused essential oils, the zen mandalas, the beauty of each design being so unique… I had my own reasons for sure as it taught me ✨Accept what you get ✨Appreciate what you have while you have it and ✨Be thankful for that which you had 🙏 Spreading my art has always felt like sharing a personal kind of magic. Through henna I have had great opportunities, met wonderful people and had the chance to make amazing connections with people in such a small amount of time it’s insane! Mehendi is a traditional tattooing done using leaves of the henna tree. The leaves are crushed, formed into a paste and poured into a cone. A small opening is made on top of the cone and similar to icing a cake, design is made on the palm and feet. Once it is dry, the dry paste is washed off and the tattoo remains! 🐦🐦

NB : this is not the western tattoo. Mehendi is not done by scratching or piecrcing the skin.Why I said it's tattoo is becoz Since it forms an impression and stays for days before wearing off, the closest word to mehendi in English is tattoo.

This is a lehenga. Usually worn for grand functions like weddings, engagements, sangeet (henna ceremony), reception/dinner parties and so on. The top blouse is sometimes long or short, depending on the preferences of the wearer, and comes with a dupatta (shawl) as well. It’s traditionally modest and allows good movements for the ladies because they almost always have dance performances during these events. Very happy occasions, hence their joy is expressed through dancing.

The green shimmery gown worn by the most charming DoC looks almost very similar to a lehenga design, with the only exception is that it doesn’t have the skirt as a bottom. But the design of the gown and especially her wearing an matching dupatta with it, gave the outfit a whole new look. Modern, yet with an extremely beautiful traditional touch. Exquisite in design, apt colour as a respect for the host country & the most appropriate choice for a grand night event - can she get anymore perfect?? 😍😍😍😍
