Can I get recs for anime this season? I'm not sure what else is good apart from spy x family and ya boy kongming

Please don’t feel offended but I laughed inaudibly for a solid five or so minutes reading this because I had no idea that the English title for Paripi Koumei was Ya Boy Kongming. Also, I’m sorry for taking so long to reply! Life happened. 😅

Okay, on what I’m watching this season!

1. Kawaii Dake Janai Shikimori-san

Been following the manga for a long time now. It’s one of my favorite romance shounen. I see it everywhere whenever I go to Animate. The anime is a bit different from the manga because it’s going by chronological order, though! Definitely one of the best titles this season.

2. Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These - Gekitotsu

I’m an absolute sucker for Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu and will watch as many remakes of it as they make. But if it’s your first time watching this one, I recommend watching from the very beginning and also watching the older titles of the franchise.

3. Summer time Render

Pretty solid piece up to this point. The animation quality is also one of the best this season. Reminds me a lot of Kagerou Project. Also, the opening theme is a banger.

4. Komi-san wa Komyushou Desu 2

I recommend you watch the first season if you haven’t yet! It’s very cute and funny. Even funnier if you look up the characters’ names and what they mean.

5. Aoashi

Sports seinen! First time in a while, if I’m not mistaken. You might see this and think, “Oh, great, yet another anime about soccer”, but this one isn’t about nationals or things like that. It’s straight-up about the path to becoming a professional player. It’s a lot more serious than an average sports anime, so if that rocks your boat, do give it a try!

6. Aharen-san wa Hakarenai

Another slice of life. This one is really good to watch when you just want to relax and not think of anything.

7. Dance Dance Danseur

Pretty nice adaptation of a really good anime. I’m not gonna lie, though - all the dance animes I’ve watched until now are a little bit underwhelming. Like, it feels like they all lack something essential, but I don’t know what it is. This one is no exception to that, but it’s still a good one.

8. Heroine Tarumono

I’m HaniWa trash. Their stuff is really cliche but, hey! Anything to support one your favorite once-underground creators.

9. Gunjou no Fanfare

Another horse anime but this one is actually normal. I’d give it a try just for that. Not a masterpiece but not bad either.

Hiyori wants to run track and field. To pursue this dream, Hiyori moves from her coastal town  to Tokyo, but after her father gets injured, Hiyori has to get a part-time job in order to stay in Tokyo. However, finding a job that accommodates her school, track, and financial needs, is hard. That’s why when a job as a manager in training for an idol group pops up, Hiyori jumps at the chance. Now she is working as a manager for a idol group for Yuujirou and Aizou. Their stage personalities are quite different from their non-idol personalities. Oh and they’re both her classmates too.

came here to rant a bit about the latest heroine tarumono episode. this will contain spoilers, so be sure to watch it before reading this.

holy hell. what an episode, huh?

it got finally revealed who took and spread the pictures. sadly, it was chizuru, one of hiyori's "closests friends"... or, at least, that's what she thought.

chizuru is a pretty big fangirl of the main duo, being fixated with aizou. said fanatism leads here to follow the guys around taking photos of them without permission or them even knowing she's there in the first place. basically, she's a stalker.

when hiyori found out about all this, chizuru revealed her true colors admitting to despise the cinammon roll we have as a protagonist. why? easy, because she's waaaay too close to the guys and, as pretty much every single fangirl out there, she thinks of lip x lip, her freaking classmates, as her property.

this would obviously create an enormous gap between the three friends, but nah. because even if she admitted to your face to, not only be an obsessive fan and a stalker, but that she hates you and that she spread the pictures that started a freaking bullying campaign against you, it doesn't matter! she's still your friend and y'all have to talk things out!

baby girl, no.

you have to get away from that kind of people asap because that asshole showed no remorse whatsoever when she saw from first line how all that situation affected you. she kept acting as your friend while she was actually a foe. it's absolutely disgusting.

fuck, she even punched hiyori in the face and knocked her out. i would've been so ashamed of myself i would've never appeared again and i would probably change schools and all.

chizuru needs help, but they make it seem as she just "commited a mistake" because "she wouldn't be honest about how she felt" and thus all this happened. chizuru is a big and bright red flag and no one, absolutely no one, should get close to her. she's a two-faced person, totally untrutsworthy, but they still give her another chance. i cannot believe this show.

i’ve tried getting into honeyworks a few times over the past 2 years, but it’s always been overwhelming since there’s just So much stuff. do you have any recommendations on what order to watch things in and what’s necessary and all that?

oh sure!!!

pretty much every single character has a story and is connected to the others in one way or another, so it can seem overwhelming at first, but since the story is just slice of life shoujo after all, it's not hard to connect the dots. there isn't really any need to know about Everyone either, and most of them don't really have that many songs either, despite everything

but the easy way to break it down, is that there are two main series: the love series (normal shoujo manga) and the idol series

the love series has 3 "generations" divided by school grade

we have the graduates:

and the first years!

the idol series has:

(yes, aizou, yuujirou and hiyori too are sort of a bridge between both sagas)

there are a few other characters scattered around (we know one of mona's fans, minami's girlfriend, koyuki's apparent love interest...?) but these are kind of like the main ones if you want to get to know the others

i saw this girl with black hair and a pink shirt last episode too... a repeating background character, that's nice? right?

except, I don't think so (and not just cuz this design doesn't exactly scream background character)

this black haired girl that Hiyori is friends with (Chizuru) seems to know a bit about them. when questioned, she claims she just happened to see it on TV.

So, Chizuru likes idols (or just lipxlip) but finds it embarrassing. so she dresses up when she meets them.
