Thinking Is Passive

I had the pleasure of taking part in Hip Hop In The Park's Town Hall Meeting last night.  Aside from the little ego boost in realizing the community still recognizes and respects Darkson Tribe as industry pioneers, seeing the hip hop community take action for once was even better. 

Over 20 people actually got up off their lazy rap asses to discuss urban issues like female participation in the industry and how we can improve on this, where are we going as a community, and the ever dark horse of marketing yourself after a record release.

The first step to making change is thinking it.  Last night I witnessed and participated in step 2, talking.  In 15 years of music industry experience, it was a first for me to see the rap community band together in a somewhat organized collective fashion, actively inspiring change.  I can get used to that.

Acting outside the box is next.  Respect due to AOK, Arlo Mav, Locution Revolution, DJ Dice, Melissa, People's Poets.  Thank you for the kind words last night, and for letting me take part in a local hip hop milestone.
