Write it Down

I spent most of the first three decades of my life performing for others, until I hit a health crisis I could no longer hide. Performing for others, instead of being true to myself took its toll, after I realized that my decisions, environment, and even some of my relationships weren’t serving me. I had a ton of work to do, and every time I looked at the to-do list, I got so overwhelmed that I just froze into non-action. This is how I stayed stuck longer than I should have. Stuck is not a great place to be, and from here, vitality cannot reach us.

To get un-stuck, I started writing down everything that was swimming around in my mind. All of it had space in a new, empty notebook that I purchased at a book store I retreated to after a bad breakup. I figured, what better time to start something new, for me. It’s probably the first time that I got so angry with myself and the state of my world, that I finally decided to look inward at who I really am and what I really want. What a beautiful gift to oneself, right?

Over the next few years, I became an expert at writing things down. Everything. It was part of my healing and a new way of life. Before this, I became an expert at doing the opposite—squashing my dreams, thoughts, feelings; keeping my ambitions small; letting my ideas get criticized before I could fully grow them; ignoring my intuition. When emotions rose to the surface, I eliminated them as quickly as possible. I learned that a strong, successful woman feels no emotion, and if she’s having a weak moment, she sure doesn’t ever show it.  I got really good at that one.

Detoxing from this high-performing mindset opened up my life to how it’s supposed to be. We’re here for purpose and fulfillment, but I was getting in the way of the bigger plan. Limiting myself with flawed beliefs and giving the critics voice both of my ears kept me in my little space of functioning well for society. Removing layers of flawed thinking, poor habits, and limiting perspectives took some time, and until it “stuck,” I wrote all of the new awareness down. I have one bookshelf at home dedicated to my numerous journals during this stage of my life. Now, all I need to do is look at this bookshelf, in my home, for a reminder of how far I’ve come.

Your  assignment will attract resentment from those who are envious of your success.

While on the other you'll be tempted to be envious of other people with greater results.

.

Your assignment will require ALL of you.

.

You have no time to play small because you're worried about what other people might think of you.

.

Neither do you have the attention or focus to be envious of another person's success.

.

You can't help anyone who is envious of you, just go ahead and do your thing.

.

And anyone who has greater results, it's important to remember that they probably have greater problems to deal with.

.

So be grateful for where you are on your journey and for the fact that the future has greater things in store for you.

Your assignment will require ALL of you. Reject jealousy. Despise envy. Embrace your assignment wholeheartedly and serve faithfully.

c) People who will not protect your assignment.

d) People who do not expect you to really achieve your assignment.

Don't waste your time trying to persuade someone about your assignment who's determined not to be persuaded.

Men are merely channels, they are not your source.

It's possible to get to that place where you feel like you hate your assignment.

.

Especially when you're putting in all the work and the people around you seem totally indifferent or downright uninterested.

.

Many times when we have this great idea that we believe can change people's lives we expect people to just jump on the idea and support us.

.

To have the same passion we have for the idea.

.

Jesus was more passionate than us yet his own disciples slept on him. He got to that place where he wished God would take away his assignment.

.

When we are in that place where we feel like people don't believe in or support our cause, let's remember two things:

.

Number one, people didn't send you, God sent you. So you'll answer to him not people.

.

Number two, let's play the long game. Don't stop just because the people around you don't get you.

.

There are people out there who do get you, keep looking for them. And as you grow and change some people who didn't believe in you today, will be your greatest fans tomorrow.

.
