— Meet Valentine Black —

— TEN (10) FACTS ABOUT MY MC —

1.) Her parents are Sirius Black I and Daphne Black nee Yaxley. When they passed away, Valentine was adopted and raised by her uncle—Phineas Nigellus Black. Total nightmare that decrepit old man.

2.) She likes to be called 'Val' or 'Valentine' instead of Black or Ms. Black. Her surname is something she's not proud of. Mind you, she loathes it. So—same Ominis same.

3.) Val can change her hair color and eye color when her emotions are intense. In fact, her name is Valentine because she was born with pink eyes and hair. However, after her parents' death, her hair turned jet black and her eyes became emerald green.

4.) She was actually considered a Squib who was obsessed with books and potion making (the muggle way) before getting admitted into Hogwarts. You can always find her in their mini library at home and stealing potion ingredients from her aunt's supplies; this was her pastime as she would always be left at home when there was a gathering or an event. Frankly, Uncle Phineas does not want to be seen with her even though she is the daughter of his favorite sibling—Sirius.

5.) Instead of being disowned by her uncle (which almost happened), Val was sent to a muggle boarding school at the age of 11. Her school was called Wycombe Abbey, which was located in the mountains, and this is where she met her first best friend. Unfortunately, her friend was sadly taken away from her too soon. This left Val in her sadness hole where she resided for years.

6.) This kid unknowingly caused a fire incident in her dormitory at the boarding school which marks the birth of her ability to manipulate fire.

7.) As aforementioned above, Val has three (3) main eye and hair color combinations. Here are its backstory and mood associations:

✴︎ Pink Eyes & Bright Pink Hair ✴︎

She was born with these features hence her name Valentine. These said features of her were regained after the fire incident in her muggle dormitory.

Furthermore, during her fifth year, she would usually face the world with this combination, for two reasons: (1) this became a reclaiming of her old self moment & (2) this was the happiest year of her life so far during that time, so when she's having positive emotions, this is her lovely duo.

✴︎ Emerald Eyes & Jet Black Hair ✴︎

Witnessing how her parents met their end was traumatizing for Val, who was only 4 when that event occurred. After this said event, her appearance slowly changed into this. This was her combination for years until she turned 15 and got into that fire incident.

To add on, after regaining her original features, she tried her best to hide this part of her. Why? Because Val associated the colors black and green with her past heavily. For instance, she is reminded of her shadows (growing powers, unresolved traumas) and her relation with the House of Black, which she didn't want to reveal to people at first because of her fear that she would be not enough or be too much.

So, this combination is related to her not so pleasant emotions.

The first person to ever see this part of Val was Garreth during their 6th year. And Val got comfortable showing this side of her in her 7th year.

✴︎ Clear Green Eyes & Light Pink Hair ✴︎

This is Val's neutral state and mostly of what she looked like during her 6th year. It was the most puzzling year so far for her in Hogwarts. Always caught in between being eternally grateful for what changed for the better and being haunted by the recent occurrences and the ghosts of her past. When she's deep in her thoughts, this is what she would look like.

8.) Self-expression is very important to her. Aside from the fact that she hates conforming (ehem, boarding schools), this kiddo aims to be more of her every day and less of what's expected of her (yeah, you heard that right Phineas). A sign of rebellion, if you will. Plus that eyebrow slit? That's made to annoy her uncle.

Val loves to experiment with her fashion. This kid would usually change her hairstyle and hair color at Madame Snelling's and would be Mr. Hill's number one customer. Quality, comfort, and style are what this kid goes for!

'Depressed but well dressed'

— Val on her perspective with looking presentable.

On the darker side, there's a part of her that does these in an attempt to hide the fact that she's a Black. Like I said, she despises her own clan. And hating Muggles? No, thank you. I'm fine.

9.) Despite her dreadful past, Valentine still holds on to the fact that there's still goodness in the world—even if she wasn't a constant witness to this. This childlike and almost naive perspective of her is what keeps her sane and feels truly alive. Thankfully, she made lifelong friends and soul family during her time at Hogwarts!

10.) Love is one of the biggest themes in her lore. But she doesn't know that yet. Whether it is self-love, love for friends, love for newfound family, love for animals, romantic love, you name it! This kid would always choose love over fear. And I think that's powerful and inspiring.

Day 1 - Let us know about your mc

This is my mc, Elaine Hopkins, and her favourite creatures. She travelled several parts of the world after her graduation to, among other things, study Graphorns. She finds out that Graphorns are actually quite gentle creatures that can use their tentacles to sense one's emotions. Therefore, Graphorns tend to seek the proximity of those who have experienced great suffering.

On her journeys, she discovered wizard communities in the Pyrenees who live in peace side by side with the creatures. In Great Britain, however, they appear very aggressive since they are nearly extinct, and the Ministry keeps hunting them down. Graphorns are quite intelligent, and they've learnt to associate humans with danger. However, Elaine managed to tame some of them (probably the last ones) and successfully increased the population of Graphorns in Great Britain. She has an intense bond with the first Graphorn she met - the Lord of the Shore.

Elaine Hopkins is not her real name; she grew up in an orphanage where she simply appeared one day; she was 5 years old at the time.

After graduation, she decides to go on journeys to research Graphorns and find a cure for Aesop Sharp. After her unsuccessful search, she began training as an Auror in 1894. After an injury, she takes over the position for Defense Against the Dark Arts and returns to Hogwarts.

It's finally here! As I said in my post a couple of days ago, I'm putting this out a couple of days in advance so that anyone who would like to do this can prepare! There is an Autumn/Halloween oriented MC questions for each day in October that you can answer and let us get to know more about your MC's!

🍁 Autumn Outfits 🍂

Day 3: Show us your MC's Autumn outfits!

Lots of knit jumpers, warm scarves, and boots. Go-to colors are green (her fav) and other earth tones to bring out her hazel eyes, with more colorful scarves and gloves to accessorize.

Her outfits are more focused on function than fashion, sometimes clashing but she has to work with what she's got. I hc she doesn't have a ton of clothes after the dragon attack, so she mixes up the same few pieces to create variety.

MCtober Day 7: Give us a random fact about your MC!

Random facts about Elsie:

She LOVES sweets (but will never admit how much)

She gets lost in thought a lot and finds herself tripping over her own feet or running into things from not paying attention. She attributes it to being awkward or clumsy but 9/10 times it's because she's too busy overthinking something.

She loves Astronomy, but less for the scientific aspect of it and more for the lore behind planets and constellations.

She is not good at cooking. Like, tragically awful. Poor girl tries her best.

She's never had a pet, but she loves animals. Though she's a bit clueless at first when it comes to magical beasts, she's more than eager to learn with Poppy's help and decides to pretty much collect as many as she can in her vivarium (all the creatures!) to make sure they're safe.

Going off of the animals bit, she's quite fond of the Thestrals once she's able to see them. The idea that a creature can only be seen by those who have experienced immense pain such as witnessing death is a comfort to her.

She secretly can be very silly and giggly. It just takes her a LONG while to warm up enough to let loose.

31 HL MC questions for October!

I will answer all the questions little by little and upload them on the last day. I would like to add photos, but I don't think I have the time. At least I will answer the questions because I think it's fun.

1- Let us know about your MC(s)

Loraine Hawks is my MC. She is 23 years old and is the new seventh year (to understand why, read the opening notes of my fanfic). She lost her parents in a fire when she was just a child, so she barely remembers them.

When the fire happened she was taken to a psychiatric hospital where she stayed until she was thirteen, when she was finally picked up by her aunt and uncle. Due to post-traumatic stress Loraine doesn't remember anything about the mental hospital she was in (I haven't mentioned any of this in the fanfic yet, anyway I'll explain it better when the time comes). She lived with her aunt and uncle in a house on the outskirts of a small village in the south of Scotland where she was abused from the beginning, she was also abused by her uncle's friends and her aunt never did anything about it.

A woman in the village taught her to read, write and educated her as much as she could. She also wanted to adopt her, but her uncle never allowed it. She tried to escape several times, but her uncle always managed to find her and the punishments got worse, so she finally gave up.

One day a silver-haired stranger came to the house, claiming to be a Hogwarts professor and that the Ministry had set their eyes on her. The rest in my fanfic :)

2- Does your MC enjoy Autumn? Why or why not?

It's her favourite season! She loves the colours, watching the leaves fall and most of all: food! She loves sweets more than anything in the world and roasted chestnuts.

3- Show us your MC's Autumn outfits!

4- Favorite Autumn activity?

Sit with Fig by the fire and listen to him tell stories or talk about Magic Theory over hot chocolate or tea with vanilla and cinnamon. She also enjoys going for walks, but ultimately any activity where they are together is her favourite. Flying around Hogwarts on a broomstick and seeing the orange colours of autumn is also one of her favourite activities.

5 - How would your MC's spend a day with their partner/friends?

With Fig:

They would probably take a walk through Hogsmeade first. The first day Fig took Loraine to Honeyduckes she almost fainted at the sight of so many different sweets. She had taken so few in her life, that day she took too much and ended up with a tummy ache. Anyway, she knew better than to overindulge in sweets, so she would simply buy a few for later and continue strolling around Hogsmeade.

They would end up at the Three Broomsticks drinking butterbeer in the staff room for privacy where they would sit by the fire. They would probably talk about their adventures, though Loraine would rather listen to him.

With her friends:

With Sebastian and Ominis she would be talking in the Common Room, challenging each other to see who can eat the most sweets without throwing up. Of course that idea was proposed by Sebastian.

With Poppy and Natty, she would spend the afternoon strolling around Hogwarts petting every creature they come across.

Although she doesn't usually spend much time with Amit, Loraine thinks he's a very interesting and weird boy, in a good way! She enjoys listening to him talk in Gobbledegook.

6- What (harmless) pranks would your MC pull?

She doesn't usually play pranks, but it would probably be by rearranging some of the things Fig normally uses.

(He usually realises straight away that it was her.)

7- Give us Random fact about your MC!

It doesn't matter if she wears gloves and two pairs of the warmest socks: her hands and feet will always be ICE COLD.

8- MC's favorite treat?

Cotton candy! As I said before, Loraine loves sweets (as long as they are not spicy), but cotton candy is her favourite.

9- MC's favorite cozy movie and/or book?

She doesn't usually have time to read, but if she did, it would be a horror book like Dracula or Frankenstein. She loves Muggle books.

10- Pumpkin carving! How would it go?

Really disastrous. She's never done that before so watching Loraine carve a pumpkin would be like watching a horror movie. But Fig is teaching her ♡.

12- Favorite Autumn scent?

The smell of roasting chestnuts and the smell of burning wood. They make her feel that she is really ‘at home’, as she has never had one.

13- Favorite Autumn-time food?

Breakfast. Loraine doesn't eat much, but at breakfast she's always very hungry. Is it the most important meal of the day anyway. She always wonders how it is possible that Fig barely has a coffee when she needs much more than that to be able to face the day.

14- MC Autumn tradition(s)?

It is rare for her to have traditions, as she has never celebrated autumn as such.

15- Your MC's reaction to seeing a ghost at Hogwarts for the first time?

She was very impressed, but not really scared. She always wondered why some people die and may be ghosts, but others are really gone forever.

16- Your MC goes to a big corn maze, what happens?

She would probably panic and have an anxiety attack. Because of what happened previously in the house with her aunt and uncle, she suffers a lot when she finds herself in a place from which she does not see a clear way out.

17- Does your MC likes the cold/hot weather?

The heat just gives her a headache, so she prefers cold weather. If it's cold you can always put on a jumper, a scarf and a coat, or take a blanket and snuggle up to the fire. But the most comforting feeling of all is when Fig takes her hands in his to warm them up, who needs gloves?

(not even gloves can warm her hands).

18- Does your MC enjoy horror movies? If so, what's their favorite?

She likes horror movies, but is the type of person who complains when the main characters act stupidly.

"Don't you two split up, can't you see that the murderer will kill you separately?" "Do you really need to warn the murderer where you're going?" "Oh, come on! The murderer is not dead yet, finish him off. Don't run away!’

19- MC's favorite Autumn colors?

Orange, yellow and brown.

20- Who is your MC's date to the Hollows Eve Ball?

She would love to be able to attend with Fig, but that would be a complete scandal, so she prefers to go alone. She would never dance with anyone else because he is the only one she has the confidence to do it with. They would have their own dance later anyway, somewhere special ♡.

21- 100+ word drabble about anything with your MC!

I am out of ideas 😅.

22- Favorite Autumn/Halloween decoration(s)?

Floating pumpkins and candles!

23- Does your MC prefers scary or easy-going holiday traditions?

She definitely prefers easy-going plans. She already has too much action with errands, adventures and saving the world from Ranrok. She just wants to relax, maybe watch a horror movie with Fig (although he doesn't like them at all, he loves watching her get angry at the main characters), with a hot chocolate and some sweets. Maybe make love in between.

24- Hiking to see all the pretty colors! Who is your MC bringing?

25- How does your MC(s) handle Peeves' pranking?

She would get very frustrated and try to throw books or whatever at him, but they would go through Peeves' body and he would mock her. And then she would get even angrier.

26- Who would your MC be in a horror movie?

The quiet, shy girl who looks like she's never broken a dish in her life, but who ends up being the one who really uses her brains and takes down the murderer.

27- What about Spooky Season scares your MC the most?

It doesn't really scare her, but going to the cemetery is something that really bothers her, as she lost her parents in a fire and there is no grave where she can bring flowers.

28- Does your MC believe any superstitions/scary stories about Halloween?

She has never believed in superstition.

29- Would your MC(s) go to a haunted house? How would it go?

She would have such a hard time that she would end up with an anxiety attack as her aunt and uncle used to lock her in the basement as punishment. She still can't get over her fear of the dark.

30- What's your MC's costume?

She would be wearing a vampire dress, matching Fig's Dracula costume.

31- How does your MC spend Halloween?

It will be her first Halloween so Loraine would be very nervous. She will spend the morning, with Fig's help, choosing the most appropriate costume for her first Halloween. It's not that she doesn't enjoy the company of Ominis, Sebastian, Natty and the rest of her friends, it's just that Fig is the only one she feels completely comfortable with and she prefers to spend time with him, as he's always busy.

She would have lunch with Ominis and Sebastian, and then play some harmless pranks (Sebastian's idea) on Ominis. In mid-afternoon she would return to Fig's office, because he had promised to carve pumpkins with her, as she had never done it before. Of course Fig's pumpkin carving is a work of art, but Loraine's would look like a child's handiwork. Fig wouldn't be able to hold in his laughter and she would blush, but in the end she would end up laughing too.

Loraine will then attend the Hollows Eve Ball. As I mentioned above, she won't be dancing with anyone. However that doesn't mean she won't enjoy the night, there is food, drink, and sweets everywhere! She would really enjoy seeing the costumes that her friends will be wearing, even the teachers! Fig's Dracula costume would be quite a surprise for her. Sometimes he brings out his rascal side. Between fleeting glances with him, she would know that they would dance together later at a special place he had already thought of.
