Did  Covid19 affect your career? “yes” 

What are you doing in the meantime? “A core group from both of our teams are communicating towards re-opening in ways that show growth from the things people loved about our contributions to our community pre vs. post pandemic. What do we need to keep the same? What should be different? We are facilitating pursuit of funding and support for our staff during the interim shut down. We are also using the down time to organize years of accumulated office documents, we have servers, drop boxes, share points and various cloud based storage full of history that's not optimally archived, as well as our physical office and all of the file cabinets. A huge overhaul deep clean of our record keeping. At home its binge TV and revisiting my music studio, probably some song writing will happen.”

Before all of this, What was your outlook, expectations, and feelings about the year at the beginning of 2020? “Unquestionably 2020's outlook was to become our best year ever. It was in optometry speak as near "perfect vision" as we've ever had. Our concert season was shaping up to offer more bigger shows with incredible talent booked. Our restaurants kitchens were staffed up and producing food people loved, our bars were stocked deep with personality, both our people and the product were on point, and our supplier relations were thriving. We were about to start construction renovating our outdoor facility to have bigger capacity and faster volume bars. Then came full stop..”

When / where did you hear about the coronavirus AND were you worried? “The news cycle and morning coffee go hand in hand for me. So as it began to get more media attention, the concern grew with it. We put out proactive memos to our staff about sanitizing and disinfecting weeks before the shut down and ordered in appropriate support products for our staff and guests, and began looking at what if contingencies. We don't have a lot of confidence in our government right now, so it became a delicate situation caught between waiting on authorities to make the call and us trying to do the right thing.”

How did you feel about COVID-19 as it related to you and your wellbeing on March 1st? “In short freaked out. We knew it was very serious and we also understood there would be plenty of people who would not take this seriously and create a vicious cycle. I have friends who own a similar business in Nashville who were hit by the early March tornado and their property devastated, but fortunately no one was hurt. I had no idea I would later in the month have tornado envy..”

How did you feel about COVID-19 as it related to you and your wellbeing when the city officially shut down? “A science fiction reality. The whole dynamic of human encounters began to change. Getting on an elevator with another human being got weird. Grocery store aisles seeing some in masks and gloves, others with no clue about social distancing. Keeping wipes and gel in my car, not touching anything public without a wipe in my hand, having an itch on my face and not scratching it. I work constantly so I love my at home time when I can get it. My living space is set up for all kinds of comfort. So being at home is easy. But waking up to discover this is still an actuality, I have not gotten used to that.”

What are your Personal hopes/goals for when this is over? “I see this as a great divide between the before and after, and one that I am hopeful the after will help bridge the divide between people in our country, who have become so divided. This is a common enemy no one can deny, at least not for long. Joining together in the fight against this, will be a reality check that we need to accept our differences and take the health of our planet seriously. Work together not just as a country of citizens but as a world community. I have family on the west coast that I cannot get to right now, so as soon as that's a safe practicality I need to go be with them and regroup. I need to be by the ocean. I hope our businesses can be resurrected and made vital again, and our team family can have their happy home back..”

What do you think the new normal for you will be when this is all over? “Atomic Cowboy has been around for 15 years, it started to all blur together. This will create a huge demarcation in our tiny history. I think when we come back it will be with much of our professional team who were so comfortable working together, and I hope will want that back. But I also feel when we return to work it will be with a new sort of reverence for each other and for our guests. If we were a big party before, we might be more than that, we might be a place where a feeling of social closeness is cherished and the party takes on a whole new level.."  

What do you think will be the new normal for STL after this is over? “If its truly over and we can throw caution to the wind, it could get wild. If there are waves of this thing cycling in and out its going to suck for a long time, and the new normal could be shitty, but lets not go there just yet.”

I might take the ideas and make it into a neat post, later on, or I might not.

Use SoundHound to Play Playlists

Since Spotify ended their lyrics partnership with Musixmatch, they've been working to help third party apps detect when it is playing so they can display lyrics for users who still want it.

One such direct partnership is with SoundHound, a Shazam-like music detector that also displays Spotify song lyrics.

Here's how.

Step 1. Download SoundHound for free on either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

Step 3. Press the Connect with Spotify button.

Step 4. Create a SoundHound account and let SoundHound access your Spotify account.

A playlist running on SoundHound won’t pause Spotify on other devices like normal, so you can have two speakers playing two different songs, but both without ads because they are both using the premium Spotify account.

It’s worth noting that you won’t have access to the full Spotify experience on SoundHound because you can't search for tracks or turn on the high quality audio.

If you want to listen to an individual song on SoundHound, you’ll need to go in to the Spotify client and add the song to new playlist before you can play it on SoundHound.

If you’re already a Spotify premium user, you should know that Spotify lets you download songs so you can play them offline. However, playing a song in Spotify’s offline mode won't prevent other devices from playing music off your account.

As long as you’re willing to be online on only one of your devices, you can have up to three others playing downloaded music at once.

Step 1. Download the songs to your device. To do this, follow a playlist then hit Download.
