Time to Say Good-Bye
My post about bullet journalling is going to be my last for a while. I am going to take a break from this blog in order to focus some more on keeping on top my assignments, especially with finals coming up soon.
I have loved the experience so far and am so glad to see who this page has reached. The interactions I have had on this site/app have truly been amazing as I learn more about my interests and how they align with the people that follow me.
Once I have gotten caught up with everything, I will see what I can do to keep posting. This has been amazing, and I’d love to keep doing this in the future, if possible.
I have loved hearing from you guys, but I have to go now and focus on my school now (and try to stay productive). I hope to hear from you guys again soon.

Weather Update: Bullet Journalling
It’s been a while since I last talked about my journey of finding the best way to help me get organized and productive. The most recent one that I have tried is using a bullet journal (also known as a bujo). Considering how long it’s been since the last time I gave an update on this, you can say it’s been very useful (except for when it comes to doing this). Here is a bit of information about the process as a whole and my thoughts and experiences with it.
What is Bullet Journaling?
A bullet journal is, in it’s simplest form, a journal that you keep in order to jot down thoughts (sometimes using bullet points therefore giving it the name) and help keep yourself organized. They are meant to be super customizable, so you can do whatever you want in the books, whether it be making spreads where everything has a specific purpose on the page or opening up to a random page and just brain dumping. Either way, it is meant to represent and function in a way that is meant to make you, specifically, stay productive.
A few great YouTube channel or TikTok/Instagram accounts to check out if you’re interested in starting your own or just want to learn more about bullet journaling are:
Bestdressed/Bestmess on YouTube
Study Quill on YouTube
Bullet Journal on YouTube
JashiiCorrin on YouTube
Planningwithkay on Tiktok
Studywithsoybean on TikTok
Memoriesbymeyers on TikTok
Pros
Completely customizable Having a bujo means that whatever is inside is whatever will help you be and stay productive. Depending on how often you want to spend time setting things up, you can change things based on what works for up on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. It can be as detailed or as vague as you need it to be.
Relaxing Because of the way I have set up my bujo, I spend about 30 minutes a night just setting up and perfecting my spread for the next day. While this is not at all necessary in order to make this effective, it is very nice to have one activity a night where I feel like I am both being productive and unwinding at the same time. Or this time could be used in order to help you get into the working and being productive mindset. Either way, it is an excellent transition activity.
Cons
Investment Because of the way I got into keeping a bujo, it cost a lot of money for me to get an extremely good quality notebook that I would be happy to use all the time, as well as to get the butt ton of stationary. However, this is completely optional since you don’t have to go off the deep end immediately, if you just want to try it out and see if it actually works for you.
High maintenance This is not going to be true for everyone all the tie, this mainly applies to what I have done myself. It can seem fun for a little bit when you are just starting, but there will inevitably days that you can’t keep up with the way you set up your journal if you go the way I did. And because of these drop offs, it can be very hard to get back on if you choose to make your bujo a bit on the complicated side.
Reflection
I feel that this is an amazing tool for anyone who is needs to write things down constantly. I love keeping a bujo, but sometimes it can be hard to keep up with it. My advice to anyone just starting out with it is to take it easy when you first start, don’t fully commit immediately. That will lead to burn out; however, don’t be afraid to just test random things at the start so. You can better find what does and doesn’t work for you. One of the best things is the customization, so fall into it as you go; rely on it.
Let me know if you guys have ever made a bujo and your experience with it. What tips and tricks do you have for people just starting out? I love hearing from you guys.

Check Out My Latest Project
This has been something that I've been working on for at least the last month. I am very proud of this and the research that I put into it.
It has always been a goal of mine to make a resource that is actually helpful when it comes to helping people be more productive, and I think I may have done it, though that is up to you to decide if my resource is actually useful.
Here are the main resources I used if you want to read more about hyperfocus and productivity:
Hyperfocus: How to Be More Productive in a World of Distraction by Chris Bailey
I also interviewed an ADHD counselor, who I reference by name in the infographic.
Let me know how you feel about this resource and if you found it helpful. I love hearing from you, especially about what is and isn't helpful to you.

When You're Accidentally Procrastinating by Being Productive
This is something that just happened to me this past weekend. I was accidentally so productive on Saturday, that I ended up pushing back other tasks.
On Saturday, the first day that I had completely off since I quit and ended up having absolutely nothing to do, the day started off usually enough. I woke up at 7/8 AM and just lazed in bed for a few hours until I decided to get up.
Well, at around 10/11 AM, I decided to get out of bed and do all the laundry I had been putting off. Meanwhile, while the clothes were all in the washer or dryer, I lay on the couch and worked on notes or my bullet journal. I ended up with an entire chapter covered, all my laundry finished, and a few bujo spreads done by around 4/5 PM. I had considered this an amazingly productive day, considering most of my days usually consisted of me either not coming out of my room until dinner or me going to work at 12 and working until 6/10 (depending on the day).
Unfortunately, I just realized that in all of my productivity on Saturday, I completely ignored some assignments due on Sunday at midnight and that I was leaving to go out of state on Tuesday and I was not packed at all (I barely even know what suitcase I'm taking).
This absolutely sucks because I was feeling so good about everything I did on Saturday that I absolutely forgot about the things that actually needed to happen ASAP. So, I just ended up procrastinating on everything that was actually important.
Now, if this has ever happened to you or if you ever experience something similar in the future, do not undermine your achievements. Realize that you did all of that work for a reason and that it is just amazing that you got so much done. Take a deep breath and just get back to doing what you need to do. It is going to be alright and you should be proud of what you've accomplished.
Let me know if you've ever had any experiences like this and how it went for you. I love hearing from you guys and I hope you guys know that your accomplishments are amazing (whether they happened because you were procrastinating or not).

Random News Update
13 Nov 2022
I have been working on a project for my psychology class and it is due this Thursday night. I decided to make my project about ho to get into a hyper-focused state in order to help students get into a productive mindset so that maybe, just maybe, we can stop procrastination.
My plan is to make a fun little infographic and so this next week or so will mainly be about things I found while doing research that I may not have been able to fit into my final project. I also plan to share the infographic that way you guys have something you guys can easily reference if you guys want it.
I am extremely excited about this project and I hope that this upcoming content interests you. Please let me know what you think and if there are any specific questions you'd like me to look into while I am looking into the topic. I look forward to hearing from you guys, questions and feedback, and everything in between.

My Life as a Procrastinating Student
Computer: This is due *specific date in the future* at 11:59 PM.
Me: Cool. I'll make sure that the assignment is done in a timely manner. I'll start it early tomorrow.
*Tomorrow comes.*
Me: *Does nothing all day*
Also me: I have done so much today. I'm so tired and there's absolutely no time left for me to do any work at all. I will make sure to do that assignment whenever I have time tomorrow.
*Process repeats until the due date.*
Friend, 5 hours before assignment is due: Hey, have you done the assignment, yet?
Me: I have not even looked at the assignment since I saw that it was due.
*1 hour before due date*
Me: I guess I should start doing the assignment now. Let's just hope for the best.
*Graded assignment comes out.*
Me: A 100. Procrastination wins again and will definitely be used again. 10/10

Things I Can't Buy Yet or Else I'll Hyperfocus Purely on Something I Probably Shouldn't
I have come to the conclusion that my shopping addiction and complete lack of funds to do said shopping is actually a good thing for my productivity. I would be a complete and utter menace if I ever bought the following this for myself, with the reasons inculded.
DVD Player- I recently bought a 10-pack of Barbie movie DVDs. This was bought due to a complete lack of self-ceontrol. You can tell because I bought a pack of DVDs without thinking about the fact that a DVD player is required to watch them and that I don't own currently. The second I buy myself a DVD player, I will be ignoring everything in the real world and binge-watching all of the Barbie movies I have ever own on DVD, and looking for the rest to complete the entire collection.
HBO Max- I have a slight hyperfixation and addiction to anything that is labeled as Teen Titans. Sadly, I have not been able to watch the latest live action TV series because I don't have the proper streaming services. Because of these two facts, I cannot allow myself to buy HBO Max in case I start binge-watching everything that is labeled as Teen Titans (excluding Teen Titans Go!) and ignore my basic needs and responsibilities.
This is a list that I expect to constantly change and be added to as I realize more and more things that I am completely obsessed with. Let me know if there is anything you have to hold out on buying in order to maintain your productivity and what reasons you have for them. I love hearing from you.

I truly believe everyone should interact with this original post at least once. I really want to see this post get to 666K notes. Not just because it really is funny, but because I truly believe that taking care of yourself is something that is absolutely necessary in the world we live in right now.
It's important to take care of yourself. Even in the smallest of ways. Because if you don't do those small things, sometimes it will be impossible to do the slightly bigger tasks you have to do. Those small tasks will help you feel productive, and maybe, sometime in the future, it will make you feel more than productive enough to do the big tasks that you push off until later.
Okay fuck it if this post reaches 666k notes by the end of 2023 I'll practise basic self care
Why 666k? Because it's funny and impossible so good fucking luck

Sometimes, the stupidest things possible can be what motivates you. A lot of the things I use to motivate myself may seem stupid to the people around me, but they are what makes my brain happy and actually let me work. A lot of the time, it is just trial and error to find out what motivates you and actually gets your brain to cooperate. It can be as stupid as the Mario coin sound effect or allowing yourself to eat a snack after you do a set amount of work. It can also be something bigger like you are not allowed to buy something for yourself until after you do an assignment or get caught up (a recent motivator I used on myself). If you think something small is going to be the thing that finally motivates you, try it out. The worst thing that can happen is that it just works one time and you have to find something else, but at least you met at least one of your goals because of that motivator.

Amazingly Relatable Comics on Instagram
One of my favorite things about the internet is the amount of social media on it. One of the main ones that I use is Instagram and I just feel like I need to share an account with my readers here who may not know the amazing account that I will be talking about.
The account is @dinosandcomics. They are truly an amazing artist that seems to come out with new comics every day.
The art style is fairly simple, and so is the premise. The comics are 4 panels following dinosaurs talking about mental health or illustrating some mental health struggles that many people face every day.
They have 2 books out that hold collections of their comics as well as merch. They have found what people need and they do exactly that by talking about peoples' struggles in a more approachable way.
This is one of my all-time favorite accounts and I love seeing them pop up on my feed. Go check them out and give them more support they deserve.

More to Come
I am hoping that this post will help me be a bit more with staying accountable for the content that I am going to be putting out. In the past, I have had ideas of what I want and need to post, but, due to procrastination, I don't put out that content because I don't have enough time to post it. So, here's a list of what I am hoping to put out in the near future:
Shows/videos that I have been watching lately to either procrastinate or to help motivate me to study
Another weather update on my journey to find the best procrastination tool (this time talking about bullet journaling)
Things I have learned about motivation because of my Psychology class
Please let me know what you think of these plans or if there's anything that you'd like for me to talk about. I love hearing from you guys and would love to talk about anything that you'd like to learn about as well.

Movies I Have Recently Watched in Order to Procrastinate
A while ago, I made a post describing which shows I can't finish watching because I am truly afraid of what they will do to my emotions. This time, I will be talking about the things I have started to watch on impulse in order to ignore the fact that I actually need to do work.
Wolf Children
This is a movie that I have been wanting to watch for ages. I have always seen clips of it on YouTube and TikTok, so it's always been on my To Be Watched list. The thing is that I have not been able to find where to watch the show for the longest time.
But, recently, the movie came out on Crunchyroll, which I have a subscription to. And as soon as I saw that I had the chance to watch it, I jumped at the opportunity and ignored everything else on my to-do list.
It was an amazing movie that told the story of a mother trying to raise her werewolf children after their dad dies. I enjoyed the story, though I do wish they focused a bit more on Yuki in the 2nd half.
Entergalactic
When I first saw that this movie came out on Netflix, I simply put it on my Watch Later list and didn't really think about it much. The reason I started watching it was because I saw this TikTok talking about how Kid Cudi was in so many projects and Entergalactic was one of those projects.
Now, I have no idea who Kid Cudi was when I saw the TikTok and I still don't really know who he is now. However, I can tell you that he was absolutely amazing in the Entergalactic movie.
I loved how the art style was very similar to the art style of Into the Spider-Verse. I also loved the fact the representation and the humor in the movie. The music from the movie is now also on my Moody Studying playlist because I loved the chill sound that it had.
Your Name
When it first came out, this movie was pretty big in the anime community. I had wanted to watch it back then, but I didn't have Crunchyroll or any other streaming platform that I might have been able to watch it.
Years have passed since it came out and I just kind of forgot about it.
Well, this past week, I saw the movie on Crunchyroll and I asked some of my friends I was with to see if they'd seen it before and if it was worth watching. One of them told me it was worth the watch. But the thing was that it kind of reminded me of A Silent Voice and that movie absolutely wrecked me, so I was skeptical at first.
Today, though, I watched the movie and just ignored the work I had to do that was due today. I loved this movie and it did, in fact, completely hurt my heart. It was a beautiful movie and I would recommend it to anybody who has access to it.
These were some of the best movies I have ever watched and I will definitely come back to them later. If you ever get the chance to watch them, please do as they are completely worth watching.
Please let me know if there are any movies or shows that you think are interesting or that you love watching instead of doing work. I love finding new things to watch and, on top of that, I love hearing from you guys.

Mental Health and Procrastination
Sometimes, it can be very hard to pay attention to doing your work on time when you just mentally aren’t up to it.  The thing with your mental health is that it can be something that you are proud of or something that completely ruins you.
When your mental health starts to deteriorate, it can be extremely hard to want to work and get things done. You don’t want to work when you can barely stand to take care of yourself. If your mental health ever gets to the point where you have to choose between it and doing so much work that you will end up burning out, you need to choose the option that takes care of your mental health.
If you get to a place where you need to procrastinate in order to take care of your mental health, reach out to whoever needs the work done and let them know your situation.
Whenever your mental health gets to a bad place, do the work that you can and take care of yourself. All that matters is you do what you can handle and get yourself back on track, mentally.

The Pomodoro Method
9 Oct 2022
As a student that has tried many different methods to up my productivity, the method that has been the most hit-or-miss is the Pomodoro method. There are many reasons why it can help, but also a few that make it not as optimal as one would want. This is from my own perspective as well as the perspective of some of my friends who have tried this method.
Pros
The time limit is always hit-or-miss, as the schedule is normally 25 minutes of work, followed by a 5 minute break, repeated about 4 times, and then a long break of 15 minutes. The idea is that you work for 25 minutes because after that is around the time that your brain stops really paying attention and stops being productive. This is also a good time period for you to be able to convince yourself to work. If you don’t feel like doing a lot of work, all you have to do is work 25 minutes and then you’re free to do whatever you want after that. It also allows for you to have a semi-strict schedule of work vs relaxing as you move through the entire work system.
Cons
However, the time can come around and harm you as, in order for this method to be truly successful, you will have to follow this kind of schedule. This is not always helpful for people as there are times when you finally get in the zone of getting work done, only for the timer to go off, signaling the end of the work period. Or you may not feel completely relaxed during the 5 minute break period, so you just feel like you barely got the chance to take a break. There is also the part where it, especially if you’re in a time crunch, the entire process takes up way more time than if you were to study in long stints where you’re in the zone the entire time. Sometimes, as procrastinators who tend to wait until the last minute, you quite literally do not have the time to go through the entire process as you should.
How I Make it Work
What I have found works well for me when it comes to this method when I need as much time to study as possible but don’t want to get completely burnt out before I am actually able to finish everything is that I simply lengthen the time I am working to 45 minutes to an hour and maybe put a 15-30 minute break between each focus session. This helps as it feels like I am in the zone for longer and studying more while I am also being reminded to actually take a break every once in a while.
This is actually a fantastic method to use for studying, though it is more effective when you have time to truly dedicate to studying/working before the deadline. This works wonders for motivation as you watch as more study periods go by with you actively working and you see those periods pile together in front of your eyes.

2 Oct 2022
I love looking at what advice others can give me as I am always looking for new things that might just help me and become more productive. While my own experience has shown me what works and doesn't work for me and some of those things are on this list, that is me personally. I completely understand what might work for someone else might not work for me and vice-versa. One thing that I love about this list is that it brings up not hyperfixating on getting organized, which I do way too much. I am also doing my own little bit of research about hyperfixating, and how that can help with being productive. There will be more on that later the further I get into the research process.
10 actual ADHD study tips
from a student with ADHD
(or if you just have trouble concentrating)
1. put your phone in different room.
no, really. there can be any number of excuses not to (i use it as an alarm/timer, what if there's an emergency, but i use it during breaks) but i guarantee that you will focus better without the ability to check your social media. if you're genuinely worried about missing a phone call, don't put it on silent, and leave it across the room so you can hear it, but make sure it's out of reach.
2. invest in some noise-cancelling or muffling headphones.
they're a life-saver. i use them to help with sensory overloads, but now i wear them pretty much every time i study. regular headphones with some kind of neutral backing noise also work pretty well.
3. don't listen to music.
maybe somewhere, somehow, there exists a person who can actually listen to music and focus, but i've never met one. my adhd means i get distracted by anything. i'm a good multitasker, but not when the task requires lots of thought, like my science or math homework, or that english essay i've been putting off. if science is distracting for you as well, put on a neutral background noise (no, not lo-fi hiphop beats - unless that works for you). i usually put rain sounds or white or brown noise (the latter is my favourite).
4. break big tasks into small chunks.
you've probably heard this one before, but adhd makes tackling big tasks seem really daunting. like, where do you even start? before beginning a massive project, make a list of every little thing you need to do. it might seem stupid or excessive, but i can't stress how much it helps. it also gives you a sense of accomplishment whenever you knock a task off the list.
5. if you know you're gonna procrastinate, try and do it productively.
this one is one i'm still getting used to. i realised, after hours of sitting at my desk, not wanting to start on my essay but not wanting to actively NOT write my essay, and just generally feeling like shit, that it would have been better to spend those hours doing that thing i wanted to do (learn that song on my guitar, finally finish the painting sitting on my desk, write the poem that i had scribbled in my notebook a week ago). if you know you're not going to get started on your work, you might as well do something else that isn't as pressing but you still need to get done. it's okay not to be 100% productive al the time.
6. have a clear workspace.
this is a big one. i found that having a lot of stuff on or around my desk just makes me feel fenced in. i like to have 1 lamp, 1 cup of pens/pencils/highlighters, a cup of tea, tissues, and whatever i'm working on. when you're done with a task, PUT IT AWAY ASAP. that way, it doesn't build up, and you can feel ready to start on the next thing.
6.5. eliminate distractions.
i feel like this relates to the point above, but don't have lots of visible posters/lights/tempting tasks. maybe close your blinds or your door, or study in a library instead of your room if it is too bright and colourful.
7. the pomodoro method (organising your breaks).
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS. the pomodoro method involves working for a consistent slot of time (usually 25 minutes, but whatever works for you) and then having a short break (5-10 minutes), and then a long break every 2-5 "slots" (15-20 minutes). if you don't trust yourself to stick to a timer, get a cute app on your laptop - there are heaps of different themes, and it will help you organise your time and tasks. instead of thinking about a task like "it will take me 2 hours", think about it like "it will take me 4 slots of time", and it will be much less daunting.
(note: for your breaks, try not to reach for your phone/social media. this is a rabbit hole. maybe draw for a minute, or read a few pages of a book. do something you can easily and quickly put away.)
8. organise yourself, but try not to hyperfixate on it.
apps like notion can be really helpful when organising tasks/your workspace, but they can also suck hours of your time away if you're not careful. not everything has to be perfect/meticulously planned, and you're not working on your homework by planning your weekly schedule. speaking from experience, it's really easy to get caught up in something that may feel productive, but really isn't.
9. this is really niche, but... for my reading-glasses wearers:
WEAR THEM WHEN YOU STUDY. i'm very mildly farsighted, which means wearing glasses when i read for long periods of time helps me prevent headaches. technically, i can go without them, and for a few years i usually did, but i've noticed that wearing them when i study has the benefit of getting me in the right headspace, and also stops me from looking up or around my room too often, as the prescription makes me dizzy when looking at things far away.
10. just get started.
i know you hate hearing this, but usually, knocking one or two things off your list can help you get motivated. often, things that seem really difficult or time consuming aren't as bad once you've gotten started.
good luck!

Weather Update: Notion Review
If you have read my post from last week, you will know that I am currently trying and testing different productivity sites and apps to see which one actually makes me stop procrastinating and start being productive. The first review that I will be doing is about Notion as that is the one that I started out this school year using.
Pros
Inexpensive. This site is very inexpensive and very beneficial for people who don’t have a lot of money to be randomly spending on productivity programs. While there is a premium version, a lot of useful features are available without it. However, if you do wish to get the premium version, it is only $5/month or $50/year.
Templates. The templates on this site are very thorough and you can edit them all depending on what you need to do with each. There are many different types of tables, lists, and format options that are already set up if you choose one of the pre-made templates, and you can always edit them to make sure that they hold what you need it to hold. The templates can range from helping you with classes in school, projects you need to do for work, or personal goals and planning for your free time.
User-friendly. The site’s opening page is an instructional page that comes up all the time whenever you sign in on your computer, though you can change it to whatever main page you want. This front page shows you all of the things you can do if you want to start a page from scratch, and the templates also help guide you with the same kind of instructions. No matter what, you will always be able to see what you are able to do by looking at this first page or by looking at the instructions given by the template. The aesthetic of the page is also very simple and easy to look at with a neutral color theme and adjustable menus.
Cons
Tables. When working on the tables, it is very hard to get them to data between pages unless you make the table its own separate page. It also doesn’t really help that each time you input a thing into a table, that topic/main thing creates its own page itself. While this can be useful to some, it can also be very annoying, especially since this is not something that you can turn off. This leads to you having a ton of pages branching from one table, even if you don’t need those pages.
Colors. Due to Notion using mainly pastel colors, some of the colors look very similar or are hard to see. While the aesthetic is nice, it can be kind of difficult to use especially if you accidentally color code things in colors that are those colors that look similar in Notion. This is definitely a bad thing if you need to be able to look at things at a glance and be able to tell exactly what you need to do very quickly.
Pages. While the organization they can provide is nice, some of the things that Notion automatically turns into pages aren’t what you need. For example, you could put down a simple task into a table and that very simple task just turns into a page and you can’t get rid of the link to a page without deleting what you already typed on the first page. You can see what pages you have through a dropdown page, but due to the size of the menu, you can’t see the full title of the page so you also have t be careful with what you type as the title of a page.
Why it Did/Didn’t Work for Me
I feel like even though Notion is a good tool, it is not what I need it to be. I feel like the fact that it is a site on a computer isn’t that useful unless I am able to make that site the very first page that opens whenever I get on my computer. I also just personally need something that gives me reminders of what I need to do and when the deadlines for the tasks. I am also just not a big fan of the fact that I can’t see all of the information I need for the day easily when I open certain things.
I feel like Notion is something that you need to commit to if you want it to work for you, and it’s very hard for me to commit to something that I can easily forget about whenever I close my computer or look away from the window or tab that it’s in.
If you are a person who swears by Notion, let me know why you think it works for you. And please let me know any tips and tricks you have any. If you don’t use Notion, let me know what kind of sites, apps, or programs you use to kind of steer you on the right track towards being productive so that maybe I can try them. Or let me know which ones you want me to look into if you are curious about any of the productivity programs out there.
