Wedding invitation assembly (part 2) . This weekend is gonna be mostly spent doing something a little different - putting together our new wedding invites! . This invite design is something I made back in 2019 for our original wedding date of April 1st 2020 and it’s really nice to be able to see it again with our new October date 🤞🏼 . This year has been really hard on (everyone...) couples who’ve had to rearrange, cancel and postpone weddings and my heart goes out to every single one of you! . We finally did it! and are now officially mr & mrs! Which means I can finally talk about my dress and the creative process!! After the initial dress shopping (see previous post) I knew exactly what shape I wanted and how I wanted the dress to look. I sketched this up and was put in touch with a lovely pattern cutter and seamstress. After our inital toil fitting I went to Goldhawk road and started fabric sourcing. We thankfully managed to do this in an hour!! Typically I fell in love with a £40 pm sandwashed double silk georgette that felt like butter - luckily we managed to haggle down to £30 pm. The feather weight Tulle was a lot more reasonable, I think we maybe paid £40-60 for 20m. I started playing around with a few bead designs but the initial one I started with and thought would be a winner was much clumpier and messy than what I had wanted. So I went back to the drawing board and designed a much more delicate filgree/damask style reflect design on the computer to make sure it was cleaner and perfectly symetrical. The Man hours started from there. It came everywhere with meso I could crack on with it when the boy wasnt around. I made these as patches for the main and focal points of the dress and then bgan to fill in the gaps. A very small section usually took me 4-6 hours so I if I had to guess I think I would have spent hundreds of hours beading and then attaching these patches to the dress. However all in all I think I spent £150 on beads, and when looking at ready made options I was being quoted £400 for very small peices so definately worked out the most cost effective way. Would I do it again? 100% I wouldnt change a thing - its one of the few projects I have felt very proud of since uni and thoroughly enjoyed. Shame I didnt manage to do the whole dress but tbf the tulle couldnt of taken it.
