Tech Time in Helioborg (Closed RP)

Ryan was transfixed to the device on his left arm as he walked in a small circle in the front courtyard of the Helioborg Research Facility.  He was tapping it furiously, and it was not responding at all, causing him a high level of frustration. “Come on, come on! I need to contact them!” he would grumble to himself. It would be to no avail and the repercussions that information carried was very distressing to the young man. He continues his pacing, rather unaware of his surroundings.

You Never Saw It Coming

In the age they were in now. It wasn’t strange for spirits to be summoned to help in either small or large tasks, though it was rarer that someone had the potential to summon a greater spirit. Jude had watched the Four and the other elemental spirits be summoned numerous times over the years, though spirit like Milla and himself? Maybe nobody could? Or maybe they just didn’t know how? Either way, it made watching the world and keeping the balance an easier task.

And while it was not strange for Jude to help others out in his free time, whether it was secretly or directly, he was never called upon. Jude kept his spirit nature a secret as well as his old identity. ‘Jude Mathis’ was dead after all... But that was still his name, a name he used, but kept it on a first name basis to avoid any connections. So much time had passed that while people still remembered the name, it was just a part of history-- someone who helped change the world, who was long gone from it.

Or so people thought anyway. He didn’t know he’d end up this way either.

Yet it was as if something had read a part of his thoughts. A small wish that while he was doing all he could to keep this world safe, part of him wanted to help even more. He wanted to help everyone-- even if it burned him out. Jude held this power now and he wanted to use it, though Milla would likely scold him if he recklessly went around helping everyone and have a near-death experience as a result. While spirits could replenish their mana in the spirit world, it was used for them to exist and for their very artes. A spirit was still at risk outside of that safe zone.

Still, as if it was natural, Jude caught on to whatever was calling out to him. Though he wasn’t sure what it was supposed to feel like, he wondered if something had went wrong... something didn’t feel quite right during the process. And when he finally materialized in the real world, something had exploded-- and he was sent flying into one of the closest walls of the room. That... could have went better, and every fiber of his being felt like it was on fire... But he was still here, which was what was most important.

“Ugh...” no, something definitely had went wrong here.

Leia looked up at the small sprig that was hanging above them. “Uh Jude? Is that Mistletoe? You know, it’s just a silly tradition and all, you don’t really have to do anything....” The young boy smiled and gently placed a kiss on Leia’s cheek. She instantly felt her face turn a cheery shade of pink. “Haha, thanks for being such a good friend Jude. Merry Christmas!” She then pecked him on his own cheek.

Elle finally located an apple gel and pushed it into Jude’s hands as she led the way down the corridor. “There’s a little cave down here. That’s where I was hiding before.” Elle flinched as the monster roared again. It seemed closer. That was all the motivation the girl needed to pick up the pace.

Elle had been worried that Jude wouldn’t be able to fit into her cave. It was a bit of a tight squeeze, but there was room enough for Jude to sit, albeit slightly hunched. Elle pulled her knees to her chest as she watched Jude fiddle with his GHS. “Jude,” the girl’s voice was barely a whisper. “Am I an… im-ped-i-ment?” At least, she thought that was the word she had heard earlier. Back in Kanbalar, she had overheard some of the people talking as the group set out to investigate the elite monster. At the end of the day, she couldn’t even help. She was nine years old. There had to be something she could do.
