Happy Nurses week and happy birthday Florence Nightingale!! This is my largest size drawing ever.. It took a lot of coordination with all the hospital floors to make this all happen in only 1 weeks time! It was a fun experience to run up and down the floors and run outside to see if things were looking alright.. it was nice to meet lots of new and old staff members while working this all out.. We all worked so hard during this Pandemic so I think we all deserved a little inspiration to persevere! Thanks to all my coworkers in the past, present, and the coming future. My completed mural commission for a maternity ward bereavement suite. I was honoured to work on this project (a topic close to my heart) and pleased there is a facility like this with amazing people leading and supporting it. #all patients have different conditions but everyone says “thank you for the beautiful 🌸 flowers.” and give me smiles...I realized that people don’t hate the person who decorate flowers for their rooms. 認知症の患者さんの症状は、怒っていたり、恨んでいたり、嘆いていたり、十人十色だけれど、私に皆笑いかけてくださり、「きれいな花をありがとう🌸」と感謝してくださる。。人は自分の部屋に花を運んでくる人を嫌いにはならないのだなぁと思いました。

Day 6: One of the senile dementia patients brought me an invisible cup of green tea very politely, sat in Japanese way and told me “thank you for painting. It is so beautiful. I’m sorry I only have one cup of tea, but please take a break and enjoy.” I also sat down in very polite tea ceremony way, and told her how much I appreciated her kindness, and enjoyed the invisible tea. It made my day❤️!

認知症病棟壁画6日目。

描いていると、近くに寄って来たひとりの認知症患者のおばあちゃんが、なんとかして膝をついて座ろうとしていました。「大丈夫ですか？」と近寄ると、「きれいな絵を、ありがとうございます。一煎しかなくて申し訳ないですが、お茶を、召し上がってくださいね。休憩に。」と、目には見えない一杯のお抹茶を、丁寧な、美しい作法で差し出してくださいました。どんなにかそのお茶の差し入れが嬉しいか、お礼を伝え、私も向かい合って正座し、ありがたくお茶をいただきました。とても胸がいっぱいになる、美味しいお茶でした🍵。

I am so excited and happy to announce this big news in my life✨❣️Pooja Bhartiya the artist from India 🇮🇳 who is my long time precious friend is coming to Japan in this September to paint 🎨 murals with me on the wall of Fukujinkai psychiatric hospital in Fukui, Japan! We used to work at the same design company in NYC for more than 2years and we became forever war friends since then✨💜. She was always my cheerleader at the office, but she has been still, always my cheerleader like my sister on FB and Instagram even though we are living in the different countries with families. She gave me sweet comments every time when I posted my murals at the dementia ward, and she mentioned “I seriously wish I could paint with u there!”, she made efforts and I got this new job to paint with her for 5 days at the hospital, we made this miracle happened to real together 🌈✨🦄‼️Can’t realize yet🙀✨but how wonderful life can be.
