She can't sleep. Lilith is restless. there's too much on her mind, and her dumb thoughts won't leave her be.

Normally, the solution would be to eat -- something comforting usually, breakfast food is the redhead's weakness, and that would lead to her body feeling soothed, with her mind following suit almost every single time.. almost. except for tonight, evidentially.

As they lay in bed, laying on their sides and fronts facing each other in a warm embrace, one of Lilith's hands snaking over Lucifer's hip and down his abdomen, fondling what she hopes will satisfy her hunger

"your majesty!" velvette grins at him, not surprised he made it to her office. and apparently, not surprised to see him. "it seems you've been busy here. if you're trying to make your way through the vee's," she says, standing with her palms flat on her desk, "i'm willing to be next in line."

He's ... speechless. He didn't know humoring Vox one time would lead to everyone else trying their shot at the King. Though, he didn't blame them. I mean, have you seen Lucifer?

Lucifer wasn’t sure when he’d stopped waiting, maybe he never had–not really. But it’s been some time since he’s woken up in the middle of the night to tears. To claws digging into the mattress against the ACHE her absence caused; maybe that was because he’d stopped sleeping in their bed  long ago.

Draped over a loveseat that he’s only a little too tall for, led there when depression and a lack of muse left him longing; the sound of a door closing jars him awake. Has him rolling onto the floor in a groggy attempt at getting up that has him stumbling for the office door.

It wasn’t Charlie, was it? Not in the middle of the night, surely not.

Adam? Hadn’t he moved out already?

It doesn’t occur to him that it could be HER until he opens the door into the hallway and there she is. Beautiful as the day she’d left him there alone to sink. And there’s no rush to hold her. No greeting her with open arms. Just an uncomfortable shifting, the hand with his ring hidden behind his back as he stares at her. Ruby eyes wide with a mixture of SURPRISE and PAIN as he searches fruitlessly for something–anything to say.

But there’s nothing.

He smirked at the other's oozing confidence. Angel was a professional at their craft but this wasn't a normal rendezvous. The star was recommended to him as he drank his sorrows into a glass of wine, tempted by the dazzling lights and decor. It wasn't his scene, normally he wouldn't be here. But the hosts pushed for the King to meet their greatest dancer. He was just here for a fleeting moment to taste their finest wines and liquors.

Scarred hands met at the sinner's hips, pulling them closer as Angel straddled his lap. He wasn't sure what he was doing but the arachnid sinner definitely did with their charm and smile. And he was a weak man. Their words ran sweet in his ear as he chuckled, a scandalous raise of a brow with his half assed grin on display, the alcohol was definitely hitting its mark within him. For a second, he forgot he was sad. Yet, being here, doing this was against all of his morals.

And for now, he couldn't think to care. His fingers dug in further as he leaned back against the rest behind him, observing the Angel from head to toe on his lap.

with the addition of the tone and shake in Charlie's voice it would have been kinder had they just driven an angel blade through his chest. Lucifer cannot even bring himself to look his child in the eye after the question leaves their lips. already he knew that he had failed as a father. yet being faced with the consequences has convinced him that he would never understand HOW MUCH he had failed them.

there was nothing that he could say to make any of this disappear. no string of words that he could form that would make this better. but he would be damned if he wasn't going to try.

" I have loved you since the day your mother discovered she was pregnant with you, Charlie. I have never stopped loving you and I will never stop loving you. I understand that I have not done the best job at showing you. nor does anything that I have been dealing with mean that I have an excuse.

when he heard that lilith was back, he almost didn't believe it.

--- but here he stood in front of the hotel, almost just assuming that lilith would come back to see her child, or . . . maybe she would come back for him.

wouldn't that be nice? he wondered what the reason was for her absence; surely there was more to the story than he knew. he hoped that it was a damn good reason, and in equal measure, he hoped he wasn't the cause. it was a waiting game he played; he had no guarantee lilith would even show up. maybe she didn't know they were here. the thought crossed his mind that maybe she didn't even care anymore, but he pushed that thought aside instantly.

waiting was all he could do. and so wait he would, loyally; hoping things wouldn't be immediately awful upon her arrival. though, it would . . . be difficult. to see her again. he wasn't sure what to expect, and her leaving was a wound that still bled.

he missed her. terribly. and he hoped he could make it up to her, somehow.
